Cons: doesnt work for external enclosures (at least for me)

Pros: cheap, does the job
Comment:
I tried to use this to adapt my 2.5" sata drive to a 3.5" external enclosure. Unfortunaltey it doesn't work because the sata connector is fixed to a certain position. I suppose this adapter works for a desktop chassis enclosure

Cons: Does not mount on Cosmos S Drive bay.

Pros: Fits like it should
Comment:
I think this is more the Cosmos S's drive bay problem, but it is damn fickle about it....this hard drive bracket will fit a 2.5in HD no problem, and should be able to fit into any 3.5inch rack. My only problem was that it did not fit into the drive bay (very specific holes).

Cons: -The 2.5-inch connector could be keyed

Pros: -Inexpensive-Works
Comment:
For the money, it was a great way of proving isolating a failure to the mobile drive rather than the laptop. That is, I couldn't see the suspect mobile drive connected to my desktop computer. (One of my other mobile drives was found no problem.)One of the other reviewers is correct in identifying that the little triangle in the plastic moulding identifies Pin 1; Pin 1 is aligned with the stripe on the ribbon cable. And that the 3.5-inch interface is keyed with the missing pin. However the 2.5-inch connector isn't keyed i.e., no blocked hole, and it is possible to connect the mobile drive incorrectly.

Cons: The screws included could be too long for some hdd installations.

Pros: Brings forth a medium in which a standard 2.5" 'laptop' hdd can be used inside a standard PC case fairly easily.
Comment:
Before we start some things should be cleared up. Contrary to the picture displayed on the top of the page, the order does not include two seperate drive rail adapters, but only one single chassis on which the hdd lies screwed on top. The plastic IDE adapter also contains the one pin missing, as to make it compatible with all IDE cables.I had to buy this for the reason that I was given a 40GB (37.5GB) toshiba MK4020GAS 2.5" laptop hdd. This is what comes when you order:A plastic bag encases the drive 12V adapter plug and ide adapter, a small zip-lock sealed baggette which contains 12 assorted screws to aid in installation of your drive, a metal disk chassis assembly which lies under your hdd which then can be installed into a standard 3.5" hdd installation bay. No instructions are provided. Installation:I proceeded to open the clear plastic bag and examine the parts. The drive chassis is made out of light duty steel and is painted a grey ceramic type colour. On the two side edges of the chassis there are 4 fine threaded screw holes for each side (same screw as cd-drives). The bottom of the chassis has 4 long, seperate slotted holes from which to mount the hdd with the included screws. When flipped over there is a small round hole on one side in the middle, which doesnt serve any purpose. The hdd should be screwed onto the raised portion of the four slotted holes each. It does not matter the direction the chassis assembly is screwed onto the 2.5" drive, as you will notice both back and end are symmetrical. However, out of all the screws provided (12) they all were too long to securely screw my hdd onto the chassis assemly. But luckily I have a large collection of spare screws and I found some short enough. The plastic IDE adapter should be installed only a certain way. The raised plastic labeling of '2.5" HDD Adapter" should be facing upright and while connected to the laptop hdd pins the small raised triangle should face to the rear-right side of the hdd. The plastic IDE adapter holds very securely in place and is tight on, as to allow the installation of your IDE cable without the adapter actually being inadvertantly pulled off. Finally, connect the power plug into the 4 pin connector provided with your PSU. To note is that laptop hdds do not have jumpers for slave/master/cs (I noticed this on mine) so it is not to worry about this as it was detected in the BIOS just fine.

Cons: No instructions, connector is loose.

Pros: Works, what more do you want?
Comment:
I ordered this because I upgraded my laptop's hard drive, but I wanted to put my old one to good use. So, I ordered this adaptor kit from NCIX.It works perfectly, though I'll admit I had some trouble with mounting my drive onto it. One important thing to note is that you should not toy around with it too much, and if you were going to be messing around with anything around the cables plugged into it, disconnect the drive and then do what you must. The connector can come loose if you move it around too much (which is easy if you push the IDE cable). All in all, this was a pretty good buy, especially considering you have no alternatives!

This works well exept for the fact that it is for Only for older IDE cables that have ALL THE FEMALE PIN INPUTS. (and not one missing. This is because the adapter has ALL the pins. I guess you could brake a pin off...

Handy cable to have around when the notebook drive begins to fail. My notebook has eaten a few drives due to poor cooling design so this is a nice way to clone the data off.

Great little tool for ghosting one laptop drive to another (using a desktop unit of course). I also was able to copy over 6GB's of data without any issues.

Pros: Works well.

Yes, Joel. This is what you use to connect a 2.5" laptop HD to your desktop. For those of you confused about this kit, it includes 2 things:1. Metal mounting brackets that you screw onto your 2.5" hard drive so you can mount it in your desktop PC's hard drive cage like a regular hard drive. Never used it because I only wanted to hook up my old laptop HD to my desktop to dump all the files onto my desktop HD and re-transfer everything to my new 2.5" HD.2. The actual 44 pin 2.5" HD to 40 pin 3.5" HD adapter. You connect the 44 pin end to your 2.5" HD and connect a standard 40 pin IDE cable to the 40 pin end. There is a 4 pin Molex power plug that comes out from the 40 pin end which you connect to a spare 4 pin Molex header that comes out of your power supply. Make sure that the IDE cable that you have does not have the middle lower pinhole blocked out (some of them are like that), because the 40 pin side of the adapter has all 40 pins sticking out. You might be able to use wire cutters to remove the offending pin, but it's safer to just find an IDE cable that does not block off the unused pinhole.

Cons: Not all IDE cable

Pros: easy
Comment:
You must have a IDE cable with the connector that accept ALL the PINs. The newer IDE cables have the middle one blocked.
