My HP laptop wireless adapter failed and HP said my extended warrantee was past the time by one monnth and they would not help me. If I called them for help it would cost 50 dollars with no gaurentee that they would fix the problem. For a new mother board they wanted to charge me over 250 dollars for a problem they know exists on their laptops. I purchased the wireless adapter amd had it running in under five minutes. Great item and a real cost saver. Take that HP. |

my lap top wifi stopped working so I have been using a net gear usb with out an antenna. this hawking new one has boasted my reception from fair to very good, sometimes excellent! VERY HAPPY I got it. |

This USB WiFi adapter worked right out of the box. I installed it on both XP and Vista PC's and both worked flawlessly. I like the ability to remove the attached antenna and replace it with an external high gain antenna. |

Works like a charm. I have a weak reception with my wireless system and my options were to pay hundreds of dollars to have the laptop and wireless port fixed/replaced or buy this usb adapter. This unit saved me a lot of money and I do not have to buy a new laptop. My reception is better and stronger than when the laptop was new. |

I selected this adapter only after I did some research. I am very good at network configuration, so the setup was very straight forward for me. This adapter is secure WPA2 and fast, I would probably get faster download speeds if I used a Hawking router. |

This worked alright for a bit until i dropped it from abot my waste never worked after that eventually. If you have two usb beside eachother you might want to by a hub too cause it's so big and clunky it took over my other usb port |

Received this a few days ago. After opening up the package I was up and running within 15 minutes. I have an old 2003 Dell desktop that I was about to throw away and then my neighbor told me about wireless adapters so we will keep this system and move it into the guest bedroom while we wait on our new laptop from Dell. Anyway, after reading the mostly good reviews on Amazon I ordered this device and I am very pleased with the type of reception we are getting. The software was easy to load but there was a part of the download where a disclaimer comes up saying something to the effect this device does not ''jive'' with windows Xp blah, blah, blah. I didn't know what it meant so I ignored it and continued the download and it hasn't effected the quality of the downloads off the web at least from what I can tell. I needed a wireless adpater that works easily with Linux and supports packet injection while having the option for attaching other antennae. So I purchased this fine little device and it works flawlessly. The only downside to the HWUG1 is that when its plugged into the usb port it is a bit flimsy.
