Cons: Driver CD is useless, why bother shipping one when there are no applicable drivers. Website drivers are somewhat useless, the gigabit driver doesn't even work, go straight to realtek. I can't believe that the Via Hyperion USB3 driver is beta.
Pros: Good layout for matx board, 4 DDR3 Dimm slots, lots of SATA ports, 3 available video ports. Support from J&W was pretty good as I also had trouble updating the bios. 48 hours after emailing huang-chenxjwele.com.cn, he sent me a new afudos that overcame the bios write protected issue. Comment:
On sale, no other manufacturer provides as many expansion possibilities as J&W. The AMI UEFI bios is SLIC'able. Be prepared to search through Intel/Realtek websites to obtain driver. I'm not sure when VIA will release stable drivers for the USB3, you can't even find them on their website. On the plus side at least a real human gets back to you when you email J&W support. I give it 4 stars since I was able to overcome the shortcomings and purchased the board at a sale price. |

Cons: no support for 64bit drivers - I had to manually search from vendors (intel, realtek) for chipset, video and sound.DVI connection was faulty. With 1900x1200 (native for 24 inch display) displayed with faulty lines.Lack of troubleshooting (the j&w website didn't have proper drivers as well)BIOS update reported an error: BIOS locked from DOS version. Windows version fails at 64bitI'd not recommended for DIY starters.

I purchased this mainboard with i3 bundle deal and was also curios of this brand name.After mounting and windows 7 x64 bit Home Premium is installed, I installed the driver disk provided and nothing worked.Chipset installation seemed to work but no, there was an unidentified device. Onboard driver failed (the driver provided an error). Realtek Lan driver failed. I had to use a USB thumb drive to transfer data back and forth.Download 64bit chipset and video drivers from Intel and lan driver (ethernet) from realtek. Also might as well download sound from realtek as well.Worst was the video display at 1900x1200, it showed jagged lines. So much for Integrated graphics, I bought HD 5450 later to resolve the problem. I failed to update BIOS from DOS because of BIOS is locked and there's no help. Updating BIOS from Windows 64bit failed bad.Other than the mentioned above it works, but so much time trying to figure it out. I wouldn't recommend for DIY beginners. |
Basically, the driver program they make you use sucks and my ethernet port couldn't get going until I fiddled around quite extensively with it (had to uninstall, disable, then browse from all of the D: (the CD) for the drivers when looking at it through the device manager. But after I got it going, it has been great.
