Nice two-3U cooler. Remarkibly quiet for such a small fan, runs in the 1700-2500 rpm range extremely nicely. The pre-applied heatsink compound was full of tiny bits of cardboard due to the fact there was no plastic protection seperating the box from the material. I dont get why Intel and other manufacturs retain generating prime-down coolers, it's just dumb and doesn't result in fantastic airflow in any method. front-back is the way to go.Dont bother with the similar K650 which doesn't have the heat pipes.

Fits in my Cube with no touching anything. Mainly easy to install. Runs significantly cooler than my Intel prime to bottom heatsink. Slightly noisy but was expecting that from other evaluations. On a scale of 1-ten it's a 2 at idle and 4 or 5 when working hard. Like others have stated, they really should have covered the thermal paste with something... couple of tiny cardboard slivers.

+ remarkably effortless install + superb side-to-side airflow by way of the heat sink...tends to make alot far more sense than top-down airflow+ incredibly properly constructed, extremely strong + nice value + keeps the CPU good and cool + like the selection of attaching it to push the air in any direction required All in all, a extremely good cooler and worth the income to replace the stock cooler. - "runs quiet" is a quite relative term...for me the fan whines a bit when working with the Computer for "normal" use (also a relative term), not to the point of annoynance or irritation, but it is noticable...which is why I'm knocking off 1 egg. The whine becomes far more noticable when you commence undertaking issues that generate heat in the CPU and in the case, like rising the clock speed of the CPU and/or RAM, for example. Not that you wouldn't count on much more noise when the cooler is functioning tougher trying to do its job under hotter circumstances, so this is just an fyi, I suppose. Looks and feels very well created, a solid unit. The included brackets that stick to the back of the mobo make installation a snap, and you can orient the cooler to push air in any direction. The spring loaded screws assure a tight fit to the surface of the cpu. Not precisely a mirror finish on the base, but nothing at all worth docking an egg over. As noted elsewhere, the thermal compound had little bits of cardboard in it due to somewhat lackluster packaging on Dynatron's component, but if you're acquiring a third party cooler you're most likely getting your own thermal compound as effectively so in most circumstances this will be a non-concern.

This is a good quality unit. I cannot speak to the fan, as I imediately removed it because my 3U case has a ducted fan technique with three 90MM pusher fans and two 80MM exhaust fans. I couldn't uncover yet another solid unit that was intended to be employed "passively", but this one effortlessly fit the bill. I have it on a Xeon 3430, and it runs 5-10degrees cooler than the stock unit considering that the air flows the proper diection through and directly out of the case. The build good quality is best notch, and the mounting feels incredibly strong. I like that there are no push pins. It was also easy to unscrew the duct around it and take the fan off.Like mentioned, don't bother with the older model with no heat pipes! None Like pointed out I didn't use the fan, but it may well be worth their effort to make it so you could put one particular fan on each side for resiliency sake, if you needed it to be active.

Goes in quickly, if you know what you are performing. Strong construct. Cools effectively for a little unit. Screws beat push-pins any day. Extremely whiny. My gut told me I really should count on it from a 60mm fan, but got it vs. the K985 base on critiques here. Really should have listened to my gut! Don't feel I have a negative fan, it's just the nature of the beast. Not a poor unit, but where I have it, I can't live with the fan noise. Got a P985 for an older 775 MB and adore it. Will replace this with a K985 (same as a P985, but sized for an 1156 CPU.) Will need installation instructions for this or the K985, see my evaluation of the P985. Only difference is the brackets. They will only fit one way, metal bar against the CPU Housing. Peel the paper and they have sticky stuff to hold them on.

Keeps it beneath 60C with no problems. Fits in my cube situation and on my gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P. Simple to install. NO plastic parts which rocks. Makes a high pitch whine when underneath load. If noise doesn't bother you, it's a good cooler for the value.

This is the ideal LGA1156 air cooler. It has a smaller footprint than the stock cooler for the i5-680, so as long as you have the overhead for the height, you're great. It definitely rips at 5000 rpm, so if you lean on the processor seriously difficult, it will get the heat out of there, but it runs nice and quiet when the CPU isn't becoming crushed. You can orient this cooler so it blows up, down, left or correct. The ASUS mobo has the DRAM correct next to the CPU, so front-to-back or back-to-front is not gonna function. I oriented the unit to blow up (which also had the logo correct side up on the cooler), and put an additional chassis fan in the leading place on the CoolerMaster chassis directly above the CPU to evacuate the CPU heat. Also, no push pins. You get two metal brackets with embedded nuts that peel-and-stick to the back of the mobo. There are no instructions to tell you how to orient the brackets, but it also almost certainly makes no difference due to the fact the mounting pattern is square and on my mobo there is a lot of empty genuine estate on the underside of the board around the CPU. Fits the LGA1156 perfectly. Snapped this on a XEON 3430 inside a Supermicro X8SIL-F-O motherboard. Fit no issues. I do like the screw in strategy which appears to fit tighter. none as of but. I did notice a couple of specs of dust like the other reviewers mentioned on the thermal paste. Not sure why they could not cover this. Rather high-priced for what it is.
