Cons: None that I can think of

Pros: It's a cheap KVM switch with cables
Comment:
If you don't have desk space, or can't afford a single monitor for each of your computers, a KVM switch is the best way to go. We have four towers in one cubicle and rather than have four sets of monitors and four sets of keyboards and mice, it's more efficient to put one of these in. Definitely worth it if you have more than one computer

Cons: The four sets of sockets are placed two on each side of the switchbox. So if you have more than two platforms hooked up the spidering effect of the resulting cable splay can be rather messy.Image deterioration with some graphics hardware.

Pros: Quality construction both with the switch box and cables. All four sets of cables provided. Handy button on switchbox for changing between platforms. The size of the switchbox itself is quite small and easily placed.
Comment:
Received my FREEDOM9 freeView 4P 4 Port VGA PS2 KVM Switch today. It appears to be of good quality and sets up easily. However, the model i received is not exactly the same as the one pictured. Mine is set up to receive two sets of cables on each side, not four sets on the back which would be more convenient.I also noticed some image degradation with one of my platforms when using the switch as compared with just connecting up the VGA connection without the switch. There is a slight smudging effect of text and images. Not bad, but noticeable. On another platform this image deterioration is less - just barely noticeable. The platform where the image deterioration transmitted is most noticeable is a platform utilizing an integrated graphics chip. The other platform, less noticeable, uses a good graphics card.I have no experience with KVM switches so as far as i know this is par for the course with any of these switches. I can only surmise that doubling the length of the cable between the graphics chips and the monitor - as well as adding the extra connectors in there, has an effect on signal transfer. So far i have only connected the two platforms, and both to the one side of the switch, so the cabling is not that messy. But it would get a bit nasty with both sides of the switch box fully wired in. The selection switch on the unit i received is on the top of the switch box and is very handy to use.

Cons: PS/2 inputs would be better placed in the rear - minor quibble

Pros: Small size. Good construction quality and layout. Works fine. Cheap price
Comment:
First of all: Yes the cheaper model is the one that comes with the cables (KVM-04PC). Go figure.I needed a 4-port switch and price was my main concern. For the money you get a nice metal switchbox and 4 decent cables. I like the layout, which has all of the computer outputs on the back, unlike other cheap switches that have them all the way around the device.I'm just running 2 servers and a hardware testbed from mine, so I'm not doing anything fancy. I run a 17" CRT at 1024x768 and visual quality is identical as it is with no switch at all. The front panel button cycles between the 4 outputs, and you can also jump to whichever you like by hitting the scroll lock twice and punching number 1 - 4 on the numeric pad. A very quick beep confirms that you've engaged the switch, but nothing loud or obnoxious. I use a Microsoft USB optical wheelmouse, and it works fine through a USB>PS/2 adapter.A few months previously I had purchased several IOgear 2-port KVMs, and now I find myself needing 4-port units. I would definitely purchase this switch again.
