Cons: -Fan always on-Fan loud during anything stressful-Poor touchpad software-Preloaded with a lot of junk software

Pros: -Looks Nice-Sandy Bridge Processor-Reasonable price (on sale)
Comment:
I'll start with the good. The touchpad and keyboard are well designed and comfortable to use. The touch pad can quickly be switched on and off by tapping the top left corner. The screen is matte. The system comes with some nice little features such as 802.11n, 7200rpm hard drive, and bluetooth 3.0. The processor is a Sandy Bridge, and provides good performance; even its 3d performance is on par with low end discrete video cards. The cons.-The fan in this notebook is always on if the notebook is turned on and plugged into AC. HP is aware of this and unwilling to fix it. The problem lies in the APCI settings in the BIOS. If you work in a noisy environment you might not care, but if you want a quiet notebook I wouldn't recommend this one. Note that some other HP models have the same problem. If you want a quiet notebook, Asus notebooks tend to handle the cooling much better.-In addition to the fan always being on, the fan is rather noisy compared to other notebooks when the system is stressed. This suggests to me that the cooling system is poorly designed.-The touchpad software is disappointing. The multitouch abilities are overly limited. For example, I can't get it to middle click by tapping two fingers.-This notebook comes preloaded with a lot of junk software. If possible, I suggest doing a fresh install; it's quicker than removing all the junk software.Overall, on sale, it was a reasonable buy. The fan problems are probably what irk me the most. I suggest paying a bit more and buying an Asus.
