Rather, Low Energy The interface is unbelievably slow. Appropriate now I am transferring a film file at three MB/S more than a gigabit switch! I have in no way seen it transfer much above eight for any sustained period. That is so considerably slower than USB.... Unreliable as nicely. I unplugged the NAS for a day or two then when I powered it back on and attempted to log in the language of the menu was Japanese or Chinese. When flashing the firmware it crashed and died. I lost all the information since you can't access the information on raid devoid of their controller. I sent it in for a new a single, they sent two undesirable ones to me and then the third ultimately worked! Pathetic. Do not get this at all. Also the initial Buffalo CS Rep was particularly rude and acted like it was my fault the firmware failed to flash and it died. To be fair the other CS Reps have been beneficial, the initially a single was extremely rude and even hung up on me. I have a Buffalo only because its evaluations about its variety were so strong, it was tough to get Buffalo after owning this product.

Extremely modest, practically noiseless, stable, DLNA server, USB Printer support, and it's hackable. Heck, it's a RAID capable NAS that only draws 15W, so you can leave it on all the time without obtaining "Carbon Guilt". None so far. I have never had a single challenge with this or any other Buffalo NAS. I admit that the internet-based management interface leaves a tiny to be desired, but it gets the job performed. Plus if you seriously hate it, you can root the box virtually effortlessly and fundamentally handle it like any other Linux box (Note that it's ARM primarily based so you'll probably need to have to setup an alternate create environment). Some folks have complained about the Network speed. I admit that you're in all probability only going to get 10s of MBs of transfer speed, but the trade off is properly worth it for the space, noise, and electrical savings. FWIW, I have copied multi-gigabyte files from/to it whilst simultaneously streaming video to my PS3 with no any noticeable slowdown. YMMV.

Super power efficient, extremely small footprint, great capacity, flexible sharing/permissions, quiet Not the fastest NAS This has been a wonderful NAS for my house network. I configured it for RAID 1 mode and set up a number of shares with permissions for diverse loved ones members. No complications with it at all.I agree that the internet interface is a bit slow and could use a little function, but I don't devote a lot time there; set it up and barely want to check on it.I'm contemplating getting a second 1 for extra information redundancy.Sorry to hear of the troubles other people have had, but I still think in this small guy and am very content with it.

Compact size, quiet User interface is really slow, permission administration is slow and clunky. And lastly, IT CRASHES typically!! The very first mini we owned totally locked up and died soon after 10 months of use, then its replacement just lost one of the two drives so that now there is no backup. The issue is, when a drive crashes, you should send in the failed drive in order to get yet another one along with the data that's on it. There is no choice to recover any information yourself and transfer. Don't buy this product, it's not dependable
