To start I purchased this monitor on sale with an EVGA GTX 670 on sale for $630 and it is replacing my Dell SP2309PW a 23.6' monitor with a resolution of 2048x1152.The GoodIncredible contrastThe blacks look very deep but without losing too much definition, the whites are very bright and colours really popVery brightThe LED back light it among the brightest I have seen without detracting form the blacksLarge screenAt 27's this monitor is noticeable bigger than the 23.6' it is replacingCustomization optionWith a plethora of colour and image customization options this should satisfy even the most discerning videofileThe "Meh whatever" (average)ResolutionAt 27' 1920x1080 is hardly breaking any new ground if anything it is a little low for the sizePixel densityThis is really noticed in games if without any AA options, I would recommend forcing AA on via the drivers if you have the power to handle itAll of the "SAMSUNG MAGIC" optionIt might just be me but I found tuning the monitor my self to be far more effective and produce far better results then using the built in "MAGIC" options, but this may differ for you.The BadMissing DVI and Display PortThere really is not excuse for this one, it's a monitor not a TV give me the right inputsNo supplied HDMIAgain no excuse for this, if you are going to force me to use HDMI you could at least supply a cableInputs may interfere with wall mountingI understand that with LED backlit LCDs the small footprint hampers downward facing inputs and plugs, but it is a pain finding a wall mount that can sit flush against a wallBase is not to stableNot a deal breaker but defiantly annoying when a bump my deskSupplied Power Cable has a 90 degree angle this covers an outlet on my power bar, though good if you are plugging it in behind a deskConclusionsince I was going to pay $400 for my video card an extra $230 for a 27' LED monitor was a bit of a no brainer but at full retail with a major lack of inputs I would suggest looking in to one of the more affordable ASUS or BenQ 27' monitors. |
