This is an excellent low-cost webcam. Picture and sound quality are ok, especially at this price. It has an LED light on it that is adjustable by a control on the cable, handy in a dark room. Plugging it in to an XP-based system there was no need to install driver--it was up and running with Skype in seconds. If you have a computer under the desk and want to place the webcam on the top of your monitor you may find the cable a bit short. If this is a problem for you, NCIX does sell cheap USB extension cables. |
i didn't install the bundled software for this ngear product.this has better low light performance, resolution, clarity, and video recording ability (compared to logitech quickcam for notebooks deluxe.)build quality fit-n-finish could be better, but not a significant drawback: base could be more stable (CRT & flat panel), and lense direction is off centre (but easy to compensate)it gets VERY warm (but not hot) even when idle.the three led lights are nice but not needed and are manually controlled from a wheel on the short usb cable.when on sale, i think this product is well worth the money.
