Cons: - stiff cable because or soldered voltage resistors- would be amazing if it came sleeved

Pros: - simple design- it works- short cable about 3"
Comment:
This item works very well especially if you are like me and don't want to bother with a stupid fan controller taking up 5.24" bay space AND having you friends come over and change your fan controller settings. Also I plan on doing a dual water loop and will need my drive bays clear of space especially fan controllers. The unit work very well, has the potential to be connected in series (10v + 10V = 8v line). The only thing that i don't like is how ugly it looks, if this product came sleeved it would be PERFECT. Please Nexus consider sleeving these for us !!! I will pay the extra cash because this product is very handy and very cheap.I have mine connected to Gelid Solutions Wing 120mm Gamer fans that act as my case exhaust to make then near silent.

Cons: just one setting ?

Pros: easy to install by anyone, can help fine tune your fan
Comment:
it's compact easy to install, it's sure not as flexible as a fan controller but at this price depending to the level of adjustement you need it can be usefull

Cons: No pass-thru for PWM (assuming this would work)

Pros: Approximately the same voltage drop regardless of fan type.
Comment:
This is a very nice product for slowing down an overly noisy fan. Using my DVM I figured that this is putting 3 power diodes in series with the 12V power line (red) to your fan. Depending on your fan's current draw, this could cause a voltage drop of 1.8~2.1V, so you end up with 12V-2V=10V at the fan. It is also possible to "stack" these i.e. connecting two would give you 8V at the fan. There are also pass-thru lines for ground (black) and tach (yellow). **Suggestions for improvement - It would be interesting to build/modify these with zener diodes and provide more precise voltage drops. I also wonder if they would work on PWM fan systems, in which case a PWM pass-thru line would be required.
