Cons: How windows and Intel expect you to use it if you can get over that, then its worth installing it. The Intel way of using the flash ram is only good if you have 1GB of ram in the system, if you have 2-4GB of ram, this stuff will be useless.
Pros: Get rid of how Intel and Microsoft wants you to use it if you have more then 1GB of ram. I have LG R500 with 4GB of ram, 320GB Sata HDD, 8600GS. So the ready boost and the ready drive don't help me out that much, I suggest these steps for anyone in the same position Comment:
Alright, So you have to have the ready boost and ready drive enabled, so right away, 512MB of the 1GB is unusable, no way around that. But there is away to free up a few hundred MB, To install a few applications. Follow The Steps Below.-Right Click On My Computer And Click Manage-Go To Disk Management-You Will See A Drive Labeled NVCACHE-Right Click On It And Assign A Drive Letter-After That Go To My Computer-Right Click On The NVCACHE Drive-Click Properties-Click On The Ready Boost Tab-Set The Space For Reserved System Speed To The Lowest (230MB)-Click Apply-Click OkNow you will have a fwe hundred MB to install applications, I tested it out with installing IE7 And Safari, only took 30 seconds to install the applications and only takes a second to load the application now. Its not much to work with but it's kinda cool to use some of it.End Statement: If you don't have it in your system yet and find it easy to only the laptop and install it, it is worth the $30.00. |
Straight forward install in my gateway laptop, intel provide the install software on disk.provided a small increase in Vista Performance.
