Cons: the quality and packaging just weren't there, attaching the cables to the power supply the plastic housing was flexing.
Pros: looks good, got it on sale for 189, couldn't beat what i got for that price, plus it is plat. certified. no humming, no buzz, fan works great. no issues at all. Actually smaller in size than what i was expecting Comment:
this is a great psu, i would recommend it when on SUPER sale. I wish now that i purchased a Be Quiet! unit instead. |

Cons: Pricey for 1000w P/SWish the engraved labelling on it would be white on black instead of all black making it easier to read for connections to the P/SA bit more sleeve coverage on cables would be ideal.

This is an amazing SPU. I am very happy with it. After reading reviews of other PSUs, I was worried this would have a hum or buzz to it, but it doesn't. This PSU is a fair big longer than my last PSU, and as a result, I had to remove an extra fan from my case. |

Cons: 24 pin cable is not very long, in some larger cases I could see this being an issue.

Best PSU I ever had, for a pc that runs almost 24/7 the 80+ platinum really helps save power. It is really quiet even with the fan on. The sleeving could be a bit better, the modularity helps a lot with wire management. |

Cons: -cables are not sleeved into the box-cables are a little short

I bought this after my good ole' PC Power & Cooling 750 bit the dust. The cables are not sleeved from end to end so the cable colors stand out which I find distracting in a black case. The cables are also a tad short but I ordered sleeved extension cables which will also help reduce the amount of exposed colored cables. The price was good although it did drop right after I bought it. :-/ |

First thing I'll say, this unit is dead quite, even with the fan on.I've seen better "stock" sleeving and better accessory on other units, but it comes with everything you need.For a computer thats basically on 24/7, high efficiency was a must, so it was this for the Seasonic model. I got this on sale for 200, so at that price it was a no brainier.Other then that all i can say is mine wasn't DOA, and does was a PSU should.Even at retail price, for the wattage, efficiency and hybrid fan mode, this is still a great buy. |

I couldn't hope to evaluate the electrical properties of this unit as well as the experts out there, so if the details of voltage regulation, ripple, efficiency etc. thing are what interest you, I would suggest Googling for the JonnyGuru review of this PSU. For other more general impressions from me, keep reading below.My overall impression is that this PSU is great. The high efficiency and low noise are great for people who participate 24/7 in folding or other distributed computing projects. The modular design is great for reducing cable clutter, especially if your case didn't leave enough space behind the motherboard tray for cable management.The packaging is simple and has no frills - it's just a series of cardboard boxes. This may explain why this PSU is a bit less expensive than the Seasonic Platinum 1000W unit which is built on the same platform - this one simply uses cheaper packaging.There are only two minor problems that I noticed: Firstly the PSU does not come with any 3-pin fan adapters, so I had to scavenge a few from an old PSU to be able to plug in my case fans. Secondly, if the PSU is installed with the fan facing downward it is hard to read the labelling on the modular connectors. This review was modfied by poster @ 01-05-12 08:39 PM |
After a recent video card upgrade (from a AMD 5870 to a GTX 770), I obviously needed to upgrade the PSU from the Bronze 475W that came stock with my Dell. I decided on this XFX PRO1000W Black after reading many favorable reviews. While I realize 1KW is huge overkill for my GTX770 and my i7-920 CPU, I do intend on upgrading the rest of my rig soon and wanted to "future-proof" the PSU so it could follow me on my next few builds at least. Another advantage to the PRO1000W is the noise... there is none when idling (I've read the fan is not needed when idling under 200W) and very little when under heavy load.The cables are modular, which is a must if you're looking to have a clean looking build with a windowed case. I was shocked at the amount of cables included with this PSU, including several SATA power, a few MOLEX 4-PIN (came in handy for case fans), and 3 set of PCI-E (this can apparently handle some 3-way SLI setups!). I used about 1/2 of them, and I'd be hard-pressed to think of a setup that would use them all.
