Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 PA03586-B002 Sheet-Fed Duplex Scanner for Windows

I've been considering this scanner for about a year - the main reason I held off is the price. I wish I had bought it sooner!This scanner may not be for everyone, but if you're like me and you have tons of paperwork that you need backed up and prefer not to keep any physical files on location, this scanner is must have.I have been using a flatbed scanner to import all my documents over the last several years. It does the job but it's slow and requires manual feeding for multi page documents. As a result, an 8 page document can take me 5-6 minutes. Doesn't sound like a lot but it's a pain and it causes a huge backlog of papers sitting on my desk because I hate spending time scanning. The Fujitsu blasted through my built up pile in under an hour. The same 8 page document takes under 10 seconds to scan, is scanned at a much better quality, and is automatically imported as a searchable PDF. It also only take a second or two to convert  it into a fully editable word file.This thing has literally changed my life, saving me many hours of time wasted digitizing documents. I highly recommend it for anyone running a business. The software works really well also, saving me time organizing the files once they're on the computer.Lastly, the scanner itself is extremely compact, and folds up to leave you with a very manageable footprint. This allows me to keep it right where I need it beside my monitors. The downside? Price. But think about how much your time is worth! I got it on sale for $379 plus a $40 rebate which is pretty good.If you have larger format things that need to be printed or you scan pages from text books etc... then of course this scanner is not for you. It does come with a plastic feed sheet for small receipts and flimsy materials.

Comment:
The scanner is fabulous like most Fujitsu scanners - except - it uses a proprietary driver. It does not have a twain or an isis driver which means it will not scan directly into many applications - like Adobe Acrobat or TAM from Applied Systems - so is pretty much useless for most business applications. Windows will recognize it but that is pretty much it.

Takes multiple sheets and works like a charm, doesn't choke and the quality of the scans is exceptional. Already recommended it to two colleagues.

My work office bought one for document scanning to create efiles. We have never regretted it's speed, ease of use, applications, and ease of installation. We love this little toy so much we bought 2 more to allow those of us who work in files to be even more efficient and fast. Love it!!!

The scan snap series from fujitsu are very capable units and have helped out around our office greatly over the past several years. Being able to quickly scan documents onto the network as opposed to photocopying hard copies has reduced clutter and saved space. The software bundle that comes with the unit is very useful; text recognition to convert to word or excel files is very useful. The business card reader program is also very useful.
