This thing runs as quick as it is advertised... Virtually... I get a 31 Mbs Read and a 18 mb/s write. The write getting a tiny slower then Patriot claims. However the write speed is still significantly rapidly then most usb 2. drives out there. I'm incredibly content with my item. Clip loop is a tiny tiny. If you want to attach it to a key chain you could have to search for a crucial ring that functions.Slightly slower write speed then advertised. Been functioning excellent for the previous 2 1ǘ weeks.

Individuals complain about random write speeds without fully understanding what tends to make flash slow to that variety of writing. Blocks have to be totally cleared before one particular tiny adjust can be written to it. This is an inherent flaw within flash that is going to be considerably far more noticable with thumbdrives due to the reduce-down nature of elements on them. This drive is essentially fairly rapid, for the most component, and less costly than a Class 10+ SDHC card of this size when on sale, if you've been using USB SD Card Readers to serve as a quicker thumbdrive like I have.I did manage to break the 25MB/sec barrier for writes on this issue... Just not when using drive punishing random create tests. (Sequential broke 30MB/sec.) Flaky as hell. There are no other words for this. You can deal with this drive with museum quality white cotton gloves and do the unmount and eject course of action perfectly each and every time, and you will nonetheless encounter strange inconsistencies with how the drive behaves.I bought this to replace my boot drive in my netbook, which was a higher speed SD Card in a USB reader hidden away in a compartment. I purchased it primarily based on size and advertised speed. This thumbdrive seemed quickly adequate (and it was, Ubuntu installs and updates have been Rapid) and soon after upgrading Ubuntu to ten.ten, the drive simply stopped booting. It still works when plugged into the netbook soon after I boot from a diverse drive. Operates in my Windows desktop, also. Partitions can be recognized, drive can be formatted, files can be copied to it, but it basically will not boot from *any* program any longer. Tried to boot from it on 4 separate systems. Failed on all. There are reports on Patriot forums about other models failing to boot. Had I known this thing would have been additional problematic than utilizing a ũ.99 USB SD Card Reader that doesn't support USB Suspend (powersaving attributes, leading to lost writes upon wake from suspend and fsck operating practically each and every reboot)... I wouldn't have bothered. I purchased a right USB thumbdrive with fast writes for correct USB function help and was left with a thing that I can't even boot from any longer.Soon after obtaining problems in the past with Patriot based thumbdrives (had a rubber Xporter XT 32GB that fell apart with minimal use... the USB plug pulled out of its affordable flexible circuit board and plastic housing, I complained on here and in emails... and they *DID NOT* present to replace it. Just said "thanks for your feedback!")... I'm going to have to say I'm done with this brand. Manufacturer Response:Dear techrat,We will gladly replace any problematic drives you have or had beneath warranty terms. As far as booting up, please retain in mind that our drives are not developed to be employed for bootup, thus this feature is not tested. Regularly above 21MB/s from SATA 7200 RPM drive. It would almost certainly hit 25MB/s w/o virus scanner or more rapidly source drive. No cap to loose. No keyring or lanyard. There is a tiny hole that you could put some thing by means of, but not a key ring... Not suggested if you want to put this on your keys. Come on Patriot, send us a short lanyard or heavy duty string to use with this issue.

This is a stick to-up to my evaluation of 08ቩ. I took Patriot up on their provide to speak to them about this drive. BTW, their personal forums have 5 pages of complaints about the write speed of this drive - interesting reading. In the forum the head of technical help (Ben) admits that the drive package should not read 25MB, but "up to 25 MB". Advertising 25MB, I believe, suggests everybody need to get that as a minimum, some may possibly get much more depending on the method. You will notice that the drive description now in reality reads "up to 25" on New Egg. Hats off to Patriot even though for their response. I speedily received an RMA drive which now gets 22MB+ in Windows for create speeds, despite the fact that my MacPro nonetheless gets writes in the teens (but with reads up to 33MB.) It is significant to realize that not only will each drive perform differently with each technique, but each drive itself will differ in efficiency. Firms perform what is named "binning", where they verify no matter whether or not a memory module meets certain requirements and can hence be sold as advertised or have to be used in lower rated items. It appears to me that Patriot had a extremely liberal binning approach for this drive, but Patriot was kind adequate to offer you me a speed-binned drive, 1 that they knew would execute at a greater level than the a single I had. Understanding this, one would maybe not be so judgmental of other people if their drives do not carry out as properly as yours. It might not be because of one's great higher-end technique, simply that you got 1 of the inherently superior performing drives. Contemplate oneself fortunate, not superior. Still only 2 stars as even though this drive performs superior, I would not have purchased it if not for the initial advertising claims. Once again tho, kudos to Patriot for their comply with-up, and thanks to Ben and Keevin in the RMA division. Manufacturer Response:Dear gare,Thank you for the follow-up. Really should you have any queries regarding your Rage drive in the future please do not hesitate to make contact with support@patriotmem.com.Thank You for selecting Patriot Memory!Sincere Regards,Patriot Memory Help

This thing is screaming rapid. Smaller files (ㅆMB) had been write at 21MB/s continuous, with bursts up to 26MBs. Reads had been 27MBs with 32MBs continual--and that was in NTFS. When I enabled write-caching, I got a 30MB/s writes continual, with 40MB/s bursts, and 40ኘ in reads. These speeds held constant transferring each small files (ㅆMB) and numerous huge single files Ɣ.04GB)--once again all in NTFS. I contemplated using exFAT, but due to the nature of my job, NTFS and FAT32 are my limitations. The plastic housing feels really affordable. I have a nasty habit of swinging my device around in circles. I have a line of paracord as my lanyard (was a B-I to get by means of that small hole), so I know the string won't break, but the plastic housing feels like it'll snap in two each time my devices inadvertently strikes a table, computer, human becoming, or Kitapotomous.

This is by far the fastest drive I have ever owned. I take a lot of digital photos and required a way to transport them other than a transportable HD, and I could not believe how considerably more rapidly I could load files onto the drive or copy them back to my mac. Practically nothing damaging to say about it, so far it operates fantastic. Not getting a cap is quite cool as well, nothing at all to drop or replace!

Very fast. Initial burst of 44MB/s and then settles to about 17MB/s. I like the style, it requires about a minute (give or take a couple seconds) to transfer a 1gb file. Capless style. I haven't really gotten it to the advertised 25MB/s speed. I'm fairly positive with some far more optimization it could attain these speeds. I want it came with a keyring or string that would make it much easier to hook onto a crucial chain. It would be cool if the connector was spring loaded also.

Decent read speeds as they are over 31 Mb/s. Drive is slower than the stated 25 Mb/s. Only got 15 Mb/s beneath Windows 7 64-bit write speed with Atto benchmark. I plugged in my old low cost 16 Gb OCZ diesel and the write speed was close to 20 Mb/s.This drive makes use of MLC flash which is more affordable, slower, and doesn't final as extended as SLC flash.Keychain hole is so tiny that it does not fit my keychain. Drive is bulkier than what I anticipated and is not as slim as other folks in the market place. There are greater drives out there which are reduced in value. size, speed. This factor is Quickly. I tested it at 28MBPS write, which approaches the practical transfer rate limit of USB2. (somewhere among 30 and 35MBPS sustained) case leaves a lot to be preferred. the USB connecter sits at that sort of not-fairly-straight angle that tends to make you think you got a cheapo drive, the casing is way larger than it desires to be (gets in the way of other ports) and is made out of lightweight plastic. Worst of all ,the essential ring slot is so thick, it wont play good on an actual key ring. and they don't give you a lanyard hook to rememdy that. Anticipated a lot more from patriot The housing on this drive bothered me so a lot that immediately after obtaining it ten minutes I took the circuitboard out of my HP 125 series drive (that this was replacing) and place in this circuitboard. Best match (except for the LED position). much much more compact now, fits nicely on my key ring, and the connector is straight like it need to be.

The ideal jump drive around for the price. Insanely quickly for the dollar. Users who dont realize what a file technique is (Read the makers comments before you buy this drive.... this like most jump drives are formatted for the FAT file method which is usable on Mac and Pc. If you only intend to use this drive on your Pc format it to NTFS). Dont be discouraged to buy this jump drive just simply because some users don't recognize how it operates. Most jump drives are sold this way so even if you make a decision to buy an additional a single you will finish up with the similar outcome unless you format it properly for your distinct technique.

Highly rapid speeds. I'm getting create speeds of about 16 mb/sec for big files and 1 mb/sec for a folder full of pics. The cost isn't a lot more than dual channel sticks. No cap to shed. No lanyard I don't know why so lots of folks are saying this is a slow drive. I anticipated to get about 15 mb/sec when I study that the max speed is 25 mb/sec. My encounter with flash memory suggests you will get about 50-60% of the claimed max speed. Visualize you bought a auto with a max speed of 187 mph. You wouldn't complain that the car is slow just since you could only go 65 on the highway due to other website traffic slowing you down.Apparently some persons are really obtaining the max speed or even higher so possibly some drives are greater than other individuals. The dual channel stick this replaced would write about 7-9 mb/sec on big files. This quad channel stick is about twice as quickly, which is exactly what I would anticipate.I in reality really feel sorry for the guys over at patriot given that they created such a good drive and a bunch of whiny brats are undesirable mouthing it all over newegg evaluations and the patriot forums. This thing is every single bit as rapid as advertised. Installing PortableApps suite has taken at least an hour on each other drive I've owned, but it was carried out in 15 minutes or much less with this one. I like that I don't have to be paranoid about losing a cap with this a single. It didn't come with a lanyard, so I have to carry it in my pocket. Not a large issue as I have gotten rather good at checking them ahead of washing clothes, but I would have liked a lanyard.
