Tried to get an ancient workhorse printer to communicate with my new Vista computer. Made a connection, but doesn't play well with friends. At least the cable was at such a competitive price, that I didn't lose much on the experiment.

I have windows XP and I have had no problems with this. I plugged it into my computer and into a printer, and it worked flawlessly. I did not even have to use the software. Great value, does everything, and no problems.

The cable is useless. Windows refuses to recognize it as it has not been approved by them to use with XP Pro, and no software is available to update it.

Don't try to use with Vista 64 as the driver is unsigned and Vista 64 will not allow it to load. You can get around this, but only with complicated hacks and or going into safe mode every time you start the computer. Should be labelled as such so every one will know. Did work fine on an XP machine, but you have to install the driver for the cable itself and then the driver for the machine it will attach.

Cable works just fine. Plugged it in, and the PC autodetected the printer and installed the drivers and I was printing within 2 minutes. Didn't even need to use the included driver cd. Much more cost effective than buying a new USB printer.
