Cons: Only useful for input devices such as mouse, keyboard, graphics tablet or powering your phone. Did not work with any data transmission devices (usb HDD's, Thumbdrivers or smart phones (data transfer mode). Also, the fan slows down considerably when more than 2~ usb devices are plugged in. Got this for 28 - 8 mir. Have never owned a laptop cooler before so no point of comparison, but otherwise this has drop ped my crappy dell laptop's temperature by at least 10 degrees. Before this the laptop would overheat under a slightly heavier load and the cpu would drop down to a much lower speed. The only complaint is the placement of the power button makes it a little hard to reach. |

Overall, I am quite satisfied with this product. A USB port on my Macbook died, so being able to add 4 USB ports was certainly helpful. However, to really maximize the usefulness of this item, it's best to buy an AC adapter to power the USB hub. Without the adapter I can sync my iPod (but not charge), use my keyboard, mouse and multi-function printer. Adding the AC adapter allows me to attach my external HD for the Time Machine back-ups, which is quite handy! A simple PlayStation AC adapter does the trick, which I bought online for about $10. |

Cons: Doesn't come with a power adapter or a USB Y Cable. Bulky and not really usable on lap. Controls and USB hub not exactly easy to reach. Lack of automated speed based on temperature.

If you are using your laptop like a desktop hooked up to a monitor (my Dell Studio 14") and your laptop heats up sitting on the desk (especially a wooden desk) - INVEST IN THIS UNIT ! Here's more details.I use my laptop like a desktop with a monitor and occasionally take it out with me. I have a few USB devices connected (Keyboard/Mouse, Graphics Tablet, USB Storage). Sitting on a wooden desk and running all day, it gets hot (Not overheating hot - but I don't like it hot). I have tried raising the laptop and while it does help cooling a little, its cumbersome with all the cables running around and its not the most stable solution. It doesn't look good either.THE ERGOSTAND HOWEVER IS AWESOME ! Its got a clean design and built well. It raised my laptop so that my monitor and the laptop screen kinda look like a half decent dual screen setup. The cooling effect is one of the best I have seen. I had a simple Targus before this and it just cannot compare to this with its massive fan. The laptop is cool to touch now and the internal temperatures are lower by around 10C tested. The setup also ends up reducing the laptop fan speed hence its quieter than without the stand as the stand itself is very quiet.The USB hub is great. While I say that it is not easily accessible, its just fine if you are going to leave devices connected in there permanently. So to take my laptop I only disconnect the USB cable to the stand and not a bunch of other devices. The only real problem I see is to power multiple devices while the fan is running on max. I cannot connect USB powered hard drives (def not more than 1) and run the fan on max without the optional power adapter. An alternate solution is the Y cable which draws power from 2 USB ports. Again that's not provided but I had one lying around which solved the problem. Another great thing is that when the laptop is turned off - the cooler and the hub goes off too (I have a powered USB port that's active even when the laptop is turned off).Lastly, even though the manual fan control is useful (hard to reach again) - it would have been cool to have a temperature controlled automatic one.In conclusion, your lapdesktop needs one of these ! |

Cons: - the rubber stops at the bottom are removable and hence fall out easily, I can see them getting lost easily

I've been very satisfied with this laptop dock, it keeps my computer cool even during CPU demanding tasks. One turn down is the lack of an AC adapter by default. Using the fan at its maximum will cause a MacBook to throttle (not enough power?).My ThinkPad X220 has burned in the same context, not sure this is because of the dock, but it doesn't look very good.Be careful if you're going to plug a small low-power laptop and run the fan full speed without the adapter. |

Cons: The rubber feet that hold the Notebook/Netbook computer in place are cheaply made, they slide and fall out way too easily.A locking mechanism of some sort would have sufficed for the rubber feet.

I purchased this Notebook/netbook cooler for my Wife, she's got a 15.6" Sony Notebook that she wanted to prolong the life of by having it constantly cooled.This was recommended by various sources as one of the best Notebook/Netbook coolers around.Time was on my side as at the time of my initial purchase it was $25.99 with MIR of $10 to make it $15.99, I didn't even do the MIR as $25.99 was still a good deal. I saved a bundle by not shopping locally for this, locally they don't even have a cooler of this calibur and are charging identical or HIGHer than $37.99 for this.Will be purchasing another for my mother's 17.1" Acer |

I got this cooling stand as soon as I found out that my laptop can be used as a portable heater when I play high end games and so far, this thing works like a charm. It is very cool and quiet and keeps my laptop from not burning everything around it. It also comes with 4 usb ports which is awesome as can be considering my laptop has 2 usb 2.0 and 1 usb 3.0 ports. The only place it lacks would be portability. If you have a big enough laptop case, ur good to go but I can't fit this and my laptop on the brief case. No ac adpater coming with the case though but oh well. It says that it can support up to 17" I find that hard to believe cause my Asus laptop 15.6" widescreen and it can bearly fit it. Then again, my laptop fully measures 15.6" from left to right of the laptop as well as cornor to cornor of the screen so idk. If your laptop is designed like mine, the 17" version would be out of the cooler. Highly recommended none the less. Does its job and a lot more. Do hope you can drive or have muliple cases or a case and a bagpack if your getting this. |

Bought this cooler because laptop overheat before and shut down on its own several times. I haven't had that problem since I got the cooler. I bought this for a price-match because there was no discount/promotion on this cooler. For the past several weeks I've played a lot of intense gaming on my laptop and the cooler did a great job keeping the bottom of the laptop very cool. Although laptop is lifted at an angle on the cooler, I can still live with typing on an elevated laptop. |

There's really no notebook cooler on the market that can match this one. So many features and can suit all kinds of possible setups. I personally use it with a separate keyboard/mouse set and it creates a perfect gaming setup, with a raised display screen just like what you would find on a desktop setup. |

I've been looking for a laptop/notebook riser for a long time and I finally settled on this guy. So far I love it.Since it has a built-in USB hub this stand is really almost like a docking station. You can leave your USB keyboard, mouse, external optical drive, whatever plugged into the stand and a single USB connection from the stand to your laptop will make them all visible.The cable clips on the bottom are very handy as well since they keep all of your cables accessible.I've not tried the integrated cooling fan--there is no adapter or power supply provided for it. If a power adapter were included I'd be giving this product five stars.In a perfect world I'd like to have a stand that is more easily portable and also one that can provide more height, but this is a very good compromise. |

This is the best notebook cooler / stand I could find. It's got four USB ports on the side, so that's 3 additional ports. Also, there is an AC adapter for the USB ports incase you need more power. This cooler is just in a league of it's own. |
It's a great product for its price, solid and great for someone like me who just needed to elevate his laptop to match a secondary monitor setup.
