Bought this motherboard to replace one from another brand with a failing memory controller. Pulled the old board, dropped this one in and was up and running in no time. I have mine in a full tower to fit my video cards and hard drives, but everything is well placed even if you have a small case. It is the standard Intel RAID controller, so I did not even need to reconfigure the drives. I am not overclocking, but always buy overclocking boards for the better quality components. I have never been disappointed with Asus hardware.

Cons: X-Fi sound is not a true X-Fi.

Pros: ATX features on a mATX board.Bios has every overclock feature you could think of.
Comment:
I think this is the best mATX board you can get for an i7. Dual video cards in a sff case is the ultimate lan box. only downside is the x-fi soundcard is not a true x-fi, it is a soundmax intergrated chip that is able to use creative x-fi software. The sound quality is good but dont be fooled by the claim of being a creative x-fi. I would still recomend this board to anyone that is going to build a i7 lan box.

As a Christmas present, I purchased all the components to build a new I7 Gaming computer for my 17 year old son. This was his first ever build. I read reviews on just about every x58 socket 1366 motherboard in existance! This motherboard caught me eye because of size, features, and reviews. After putting everything together, my son flipped the switch, and this motherboard, without any delay, without any problem fired right up and has been running without a glitch since Christmas. I has absolute lightening speed, runs all the latest games like they are absolutely nothing. he takes this out to LAN Parties and is the king of the party! Nothing competes with his computer! Absolutely no problem with heat, no problem with memory, this works so well that I've started to build another identical system for my office! Two Thumbs Way Up for this Asus Rampage II Gene!!

Cons: Northbridge gets really hot

I'm extremely happy with the board. I'd recommend it to anyone. Someone looking to build a just all-around machine that will be able to be upgraded and kept for years, all the way to the extreme overclocker and gamer. This board has had great reviews everywhere I can find, as well as many people reporting the best overclocks they've had with an X58 chipset. I've got my i7 920 running at 4GHz with no effort at all. The only warning I would have for someone with this board is to make sure that you have some good airflow for it. The Northbridge can hit 90c pretty easy and fast, so you want to make sure that you can keep it around 40c idle and you'll be just fine even under load. The Antec Spot Cool works great for me. I just aim it at the chipset and have it exhaust out the top of my P180 mini and it does the job great. I don't this ASUS did a bad job on the heatsink or anything, it just needs a decent amount of airflow for the heatsink to do it's job well enough. This board is worth the money, and it's pretty easy to find on sale and get for a great deal too. Recommend this to anyone!

Cons: some memory issues.

Pros: Easy overclocking. Well thought out layout.
Comment:
I've really enjoyed this motherboard though I initially had quite a few memory issues when using a corsair kit and couldn't resolve them until i bought a supertalent memory kit. Now I'm not sure how to upgrade to 12gigabytes as the local retailer has stopped carrying supertalent. other than that, though, this board has been great - easily rund core i7 920 at 3.5ghz 24/7 with no issues.

Installed it into a Thermaltake LANBOX with an i7-920, 6gb 1600mhz ram, and a 9800gx2 and ran like a champ! The motherboard's layout is excellent. Having a big video card wont block your SATA ports, unlike alot of other boards i've owned. The packaging was excellent and the board itself looks very sharp. Not to mention the on board audio is top-notch and the drivers were a sinch to install. Definately worth the investment if your putting together a small 'mobile rig'.

Cons: Runs extremely hot!Needs higher voltages for OCMemory compatibilty issuesDIMM slots close to socket (obvious with mATX size)Stability issues!

Pros: Nice LayoutmATX sizeRuns my i7 D0 at 4.0 GHzLGA 775 cooler compatibility
Comment:
Overall I haven't been too impressed with this board. It has a decent layout and feature set for an mATX board, but suffers from stability issues. A higher vcore is required to overclock and as a result the processor and surrounding components run hot. The Northbridge would benefit from a fan but there isn't much space to work with. If you don't plan on overclocking your mATX build, and want a nice board with lots of features then I think this is a great option. For an HTPC it would work great since you can use one of the many LGA775 coolers available, and at stock settings, even undervolted, the 920's can hit 3.2 GHz and sometimes more. Not a bad board, but I'll be trying out the EVGA micro and hoping for different/better results!

Bought this MB as part of complete new system upgrade along with the i7 920, EVGA GTX275 (1796MB), 6G Corsair Dominator 1600 memory, 300G velociraptor HD and Ultra 850 PS. So far it's been rock solid. Can turn graphics settings wide open on every game tried so far and plays flawless. However, Ntune from nvidia causes problems (blue screen) for some reason, so plan on using a differnet utility to control fan speed on GPU.

Im giving Quality a 3 because the red metal aesthetic piece that come GLUED on was broken off on arrival, not to worry though just junk. ill glue it back on myself. Other than that this card is a serious piece of work, with more bells and whistles than you can imagine. works hard no problems, build was flawless and the user guide was extremely helpfull. It is an extremely small board, i built mine in a mid tower case, but i see now it was meant for lan boxes. If i ever try sli my card it may be too tight to fit antoher, but maybe it will. Verry happy, good purchase.

Created an Ultimate Gaming Rig. Using this mobo, Core i7 920 (OC to 4.3Ghz), 2 BFG H20 edition GTX 295 cards for Quad SLI, swifteck custom water cooling system (dual 120mm rad, waterblock, pump, resivior), 6gb of ddr3 1866mhz, Tagan 850watt power supply, Thermaltake LANBOX(with handle, painted it black), and 6 120mm Noctua Fans. Crazy system, EVGA oc'ing is very easy with their software. 920 oc'ed to 4.3ghz, runs 46idle. Great High End Mobo, GENE FTW!!!
