Looks with with the red fins. Cost is also fantastic. No install directions in box, couldn't uncover any on the internet web-site either, was still capable to set up but a very first timer would have issues. Also the prescotts do run hotter than the northwoods, if you are upgrading your six year old CPU from a P4 2.six to a P4 3. you greater upgrade the case as effectively. 80 mm fans dont reduce it anymore.

it looks nice nicely this is more of my fault i tried placing this on a microstx board and had some complications seeing as the screws did not latch on...i took a hangar and bent the metal peices to produce a smaller harness which worked out completely! other than that it runs great no complaints! nope

Excellent good quality, extremely quiet (I can't even hear it), and ideal of all, good style. It certainly keeps my laptop cool. It was a bit hard to install this onto my motherboard. I believed I was going to break my motherboard by pressing down on it so challenging to push it into place, but once I talked to a technician more than the phone, he stated that it was widespread to do that on fan upgrades. Make confident you have it rotated in the correct direction, otherwise you may have to twist it about, mainly because when you touch the processor with the fan's cooling material on the underside, it can be a discomfort to get them dettached.

It cools precisely how it should. CPU is operating at the suitable temperature. No complaints on that finish. Don't think the Hype, er, I imply Hyper Silence. This unit is NOT Hyper Silence let alone Silent. It's as loud as the stock Intel fan and at least 15dB louder than my trusty Zalmann that ultimately bit the dust following 4 years of non-stop usage. Unless there's a excellent handle situation right here, your in for a slightly annoying whine of the motor on top rated the the not-so-poor fan movement noise. I'll stick with the Hyper Noise for now, it's not worth the re-stocking fee to return it. Oh yeah, this does not come with any directions, so right here's a uncomplicated 1 for you. Make certain you have the stock fan retainer cage for your motherboard. The cooler is rectangular and fits completely inside the retainer onto the CPU. Place the cooler unit onto the CPU (it comes with thermal compound applied from the aspect). Place the two clips more than the cooler side slots with the tension tabs up, you will notice the clip ideas will start out to grip onto the retainer leg holes. Make positive they are each aligned completely. Gently push down on the retainer clip tabs till they snap tight and your cooler should be snug and solid. You do not want a lot of pressure. Plug in the cooler power cable and off you go.

Awesome cooler!! I installed it on a 3Ghz P4 Northwood 478 I recommissioned, replacing the Zalman CNPS5700-D that was best of the line back when this chip was Intel's ũ,000 flagship. Not only is it silent in my Antec tower case, but it cools a lot better too.Idle from 26 to 23c, and 60minute Prime load from 61 to 55c!! All that and the Arctic Silver five hasn't had adequate cycles to fully 'settle but'. Which means it will get even much better!Oh yeah, I forgot. The chip is OCed to three.45Ghz 8^) didn't come with a drink holder. This unit would frost my Red Bulls. If your OCing or wanting to compute in peace and quiet, You've come to the correct location. Purchase it!

Snug Tight fit. Fan is quiet, and decent. One particular of the clips lifter tab broke. Leaving me with no choice to replace the grease anytime quickly. . .Its in a tiny bit crooked and I wanted to pop it off alighn it and then leave it be, but the tab had to break . . Make positive your bracket isn't plastic. These things clips go in Very tight.I attempted to RMA, at very first I was offered replacement clips, then I referred to as once again the next day and NewEgg CS mentioned it was my fault. It wasn't my fault that the clip couldn't hold on its personal. . . . Off one egg for the break, and two thumbs down for not assisting me.And I am nonetheless waiting for the บ credit. . . .

Appears properly made. In all probability the very best Intel 478 air cooler offered. Thermal paste pre-applied. Cheap. Almost certainly much better to spend money on a thing other than a 478. I purchased this for a create that ran into successive motherboard failures, so my encounter is limited. Regardless, it worked.

quietkeeps a 3.four GHz Prescott overclocked 5% cool enough when watching videos in Hulu Desktop clamping method a tiny cumbersome, but not as well undesirable. It really keeps this genuinely hot CPU cool sufficient while watching on-line videos other other high good quality videos. My video card is an nVidia 6200, so the CPU has also do a lot of function. It is truly capable of maintaining the Prescott CPU just cool adequate.

Performs as advertised, comes with thermal compound already applied. Significantly quieter than the stock Dell fan (which sounds like a jet engine). Had to remove the fan from the heat sink in order to set up. Minor inconvenience. Installed on a Dell Dimension 3000. Had to get rid of the Dell fan, shroud, heatsink and replace the heatsink retention bracket with a regular 1. Employed a Rexus 25004-four cable to convert the fan connector to the non-regular Dell fan connector.

Performs properly. Good and quiet. Takes a bit of patiences to install. The brackets are at the bottom of the heat sink, so it can be a tight squeeze acquiring your fingers in there if you have major fingers like me. I need to have waited to purchase it - it want on sale two weeks later. :)

Huge 92mm ball bearing fan - implies reduce RPM's, more air pushed, quieter then my prior 70mm fan heatsink. Oh yeah, I opened a brand new tube of some stock paste that came with my CM V8 sink just for this occasion only to uncover out the hard way this infant is smeared in some silver paste currently. And its not these dried out t*rd like stripes as on any most recent stock coolers, this came as a fresh square point and it was protected by a plastic cover which I ...ahem... ignored. Live and find out. I used the paste that was on the cooler and its been 3 weeks operating with good report. An individual unintuitive clip style, had to go on the internet to appear up this ancient Socket 478 mounting scheme. Minor discomfort. Also when I came right here to write the critique I found out that my prior cooler is being sold right here, and its the most high priced a single here for socket 478 - MASSCOOL 9T370B1M3 70mm Ball CPU Cooler. Nevertheless I didn't hope they sill make these and exactly where could I get that 70mm high RPM fan - I'm sure they're distinct from the stock 70 mm case fan RPM's. Any-who I purchased this a single, what's accomplished is carried out and this cooler operating 24ǝ for three weeks because I installed it on my massive (but old) media back up machine. To those reviewer providing low rating or unfavorable evaluations I have to say that any solution is a gamble and something could be accidentally harm in the course of transport or at any point, or just break, and with any low-cost brands I anticipate it even additional, that's why I was shocked at this small capable issue. Major point - hope the fan lasts (or at least outlasts this 6 year old CPU). Beneath my old sink (which served me from 2004 till final month) my P4 ran stock 3.06 GHz at about 33-38 C during hottest summer time (with AC on, of course and ambient about 72-77 F), now when the sink started sounding like an old two cylinder russian motorbike and sometimes ASUS Probe soft reported RPMs there was a time to change. I bought this Rosewill sink on the count of price (I have yet to trust this brand with something else) and unexpected outcomes rolled in. Effectively 1st of all this old machine seems operating kinda slow so I tweaked it a bit and changed it from three.06 GHz to three.22 GHz effortlessly. Then, I booted into XP and witnessed some temperature alterations. This sink runs at least five-7 degrees C cooler, not to mention its O.C. Temps had been 29-35 C, but due to the fact now its cold as hell right here the temps are 26 on CPU and 23 on the Mobo. Gets 38-39 C beneath complete load crunching something.

Big fan, and seems to be a very good heat sink as well. Ball bearings a plus, and the truth that the fan wires are in a shield is a plus. The clips fit into factory clips on motherboard so no need to take away the motherboard, and that is a huge plus!!!! The thermal grease is low cost thermal grease! I took the cheap thermal grease off and place on Artic Silver as it is my favorite grease to use. I did this on an old dell dimension and it dropped the cpu temps by about ten% C simply because of dell not putting a fan straight over the processor. I also cleaned the chipset in this computer system and place artic silver on those heatsinks as properly. This child rocks now for an older personal computer.

Silent and very Nice. Cool look and performs extremely very good for the hottest P4. None The Rosewill name has grown on me. I have bought Rosewill devices more than the past two years and I have not had one challenge with them. It is a quite excellent economical brand that is very trustworthy and economically worth far more than you spend for.

Larger then usual size fan, moves a lot of air, and it's QUIET. Wires are in a braided wrap for a nice look. Comes with thermal compound currently spread on the bottom of the heatsink. Comes with thermal compound already on the bottom of the heatsink. No, that was not an accident, I see this as both a pro and a con. I was organizing on making use of my own, arctic silver, as other reviewers had suggested the supplied thermal paste wasn't too excellent. It is sort of annoying currently getting it spread on, but what are you gonna do? I although it would come with a small salt packet size thermal compound, I didn't know it was already applied to the heatsink. I was going to wipe it off so I could use arctic silver rather, but then decided not to. Glad I didn't since it would have been a waste of time and arctic silver. The supplied thermal grease works just fine. The side air duct of my case extends down and hugs around the fan extremely nicely. I get a temperature of 13 degrees Celsius at idle and light use. Temperatures have however to exceed 20-25 degrees. I guess the side air duct aids a lot, but I'm gonna have to go ahead and say the supplied thermal grease functions just fine.
