Cons: could cool a bit better, pushpins suck

Pros: smaller than the 212+, cools well, low noise
Comment:
Using this in a SFF LAN case and it does the job. Cooling a S series I5 (low power) and it does the trick nicely. The noise is low and the fan seems decent.

- About 20c temp drops from stock cooler (on an i7-870)- Effortless to install- Cheap - Fan gets semi-loud during load I got this cooler for my i7-870 processor. On the stock cooler (at stock speeds), I was hitting 90-95c load below prime 95, and 50c idles... after installing this, my idles have dropped to the mid 30s, and soon after 5 minutes of prime95, I topped out at 60-70c. Really excellent cooler for 30 bucks, just don't count on to overclock an i7 on it! You need to be able to overclock some i3/i5 processors though due to the fact they produce low heat. Installation was very uncomplicated for LGA1156 socket (be certain to study directions meticulously although, you have to attack the pushpins to the heatsink in a particular style. If you have ever carried out pushpin installation for a intel stock cooler, this ought to be a breeze to set up. I did not have to eliminate the fan (comes pre-installed) to set up this, but I had adequate working space. Only unfavorable factor is that the fan can be moderately loud under load, but hey... Its a ฮ cooler! Also, be confident to apply a heavy dose of thermal compound... The face of the heatsink is re

Outstanding for ฤ. This, along with some high end shin etsu thermal interface material, keeps my Athlon 2 X3 445 at 24 degrees idle, 35 load when overclocked to three.6GHz. At stock idle is 21 degrees and load is 32. Awesome for ฤ. None so far. The item is sold and prices as a 3 heatpipe cooler with a 92mm fan, those aren't cons, they're just what you get for ฤ.

The cooler itself looks seriously good and enables you to add a second 92 mm fan if needed for a push-pull setup (fan mount clips are integrated). Comes with thermal paste :) Flexibility amongst various platforms. I think the 1 I got was just a bad 1 out of the batch. My idle temps are about 30-32 Celcius, even so the fan is continually spinning around 2800 RPM, and in contrast to several of the other evaluations stating it is quite "quiet", the 92 mm fan is the loudest factor in my computer system and theres 4 other 120 mm fans operating. It's like a jet engine taking off inside my desktop. Purchased it a when prior to I got the rest of my computer system components. I hope newegg can still support me out but I'm past my 30 days :( Disappointed in this item which received so several great testimonials.... It's a cooler and seems to hold my AMD 6-core at about 33-35C at idle. I haven't ramped up the CPU truly at all so I don't know how it cools on the extreme side of points, but I shall quickly discover out as quickly as I fire up Crysis 1. I took an egg away because throughout installation, the clip that you set up on the fastening bracket kept falling off everytime I attempted to connect it to the system board.I finally got it right after 20 minutes or so... I had to clean then re-apply HS compound right after each attempt, so that's what took so lengthy. Practically nothing

EconomicalNot hugePerforms properlyFunctions with nearly all socket kinds 92MM - louder than 120's and moves significantly less airNot appropriate for OC'd quad - but its only ฤ.00 Working with as fast economical remedy on a Athalon two 445 that unlocked to a quad for me. Didn't expect it and when it did I began Prime95 testing. Temps rapidly shot into the high 50C variety, (less than five min) so I knew I necessary a much better cooler just to uncover out if 4th core was steady. This led me to local Computer shop and a 20.00 gamble. Turns out 4th core is steady, and also that this tiny cooler is A lot superior than stock AMD. Dropped temps 10-12 degrees C. Chip stays around 45C beneath 100% load @ 12 hours. Idles in the low 32C variety. Wont OC with this cooler, four cores at three.1 is about all I trust it as well cool on a 125watt CPU.

Cools my Phenom II X4 955 (not OC'd) very effectively whilst becoming almost silent. My BIOS is set to maintain the CPU about 45 degC with a minimum 50% duty cycle and I hear only a faint woosh of air when I listen for it with the side of my case open. Temperatures dropped about 7-ten degrees Celsius over the stock AMD cooler. None truly. Almost certainly won't do as effectively as a larger cooler, but fine for my needs. Like I stated above, I have my BIOS set up with a target temperature of 45 degC and a minimum PWM duty cycle of 50%. Appear in the hardware monitor section of your BIOS setup for this. The retention mechanism for AM2/AM3 sockets appears a tiny odd at first, but is quite uncomplicated. Eliminate the fan from the heatsink 1st, mount it, then put the fan back on. The lever on the retention mechanism really should start off at the left (when looking at the lever from the front), then move it to the suitable to clamp down the heatsink.

I've had this cooler on my CPU given that I got it, so I can't say how a lot much better it is than the stock fan, but I have been amazed by its effectiveness. My CPU temperatures flat out Never ever go up under genuine-planet use. Playing a game, my GPU will be cruising up from 40c to 80c, but beneath this cooler the CPU sits at a cool 35, be it on the desktop or immediately after hours of gaming. Even in the course of CPU pressure testing, I don't feel I've ever noticed it even hit 50. Not that fairly?

nice fan, quiet even at complete speed. appears good, cleared memory with fins. doesnt completely cover the surface of the processor(phenom II, appears like an 1Ǟth inch is exposed on each finish. the ground surface looked to be around .005- .007 off flat. (eyeballed it with granite plate, didnt really feel like setting up to measure). poor speak to amongst the copper tubes and aluminum, major air barrier between them with only the top touching. all round it works, and is a ok item, but probly wouldnt buy once more and find some thing else in the identical or slightly greater price range.

I enjoy this cool, Both for function & Value. Reading alot of complaints on these critiques for the most part have easily answered solutions that really should have been apparentI'm running this on a 9850 quad qore Black edition, Which as you may know tends to run quite hot due to having 125w design. The Retention plate match nice and simply involving the heatpipes (It can be installed to blow air up/down or Left/right, Just slip the plate among the heatpipes rather of you wish to do suitable to left air) and i set it up with one more 92mm fan for a push pull and my rear fan adding another pull. To address some issues a few critiques below about the retention clip hitting the fins, I had this as effectively. Basically apply a small stress to the clip's base and the clip will slide forward allow you to clip it on with easeAs a final note: My CPU temps are as follows: Idle: 23-25 Load: 33-43(heavy one hundred% use) Can't consider of any.

I bought this from a brick-and-mortar store soon after I ordered the Freezer 7 (only to find out that the 7 blows to the top of the case). This 1 operates. Overclocked my Athlon II X3 455 3.3GHz to 4.05GHz. Stock heat sink went to 80C. This heat sink took it down to 50C.It's quiet. Requires some wrestling to get the AMD fasteners latched onto the anchor points and tightened down. There's not a lot of clearance in between the swing-arm lever and the heatsink fins (read: they rub collectively). Be ready to curse like a sailor. Nonetheless, after everthing is positioned correctly and latched down, it doesn't move.Want anything much easier to install (and prepared to remove your motherboard)? Go for the Hyper 212 Plus. Even though, if you're removing your MB, this 1 is in all probability as uncomplicated to install as anything else... Blows to the back of the case. Results above are with only 1 fan on the heat sink. I disable AMD Cool & Quiet.
