It's real valuable and I'm positive and will be down the road. Properly constructed and created except mayby a tiny itty bit huge. It's my 1st building a computer system from scracth and sata drives are new to me. The instruction sheet mentions nothing at all (that I recall) of pluging in the normal size 4-pin molex ALSO to the drive when adapting IDE drive to plug into a SATA header. I'm not the only 1 who has a bit of irratated time figureing it out! And it was right here from what other people wrote that I figure it out also. So whoops i dropped one egg. But I am a newegg for positive.

Makes it possible for SATA drives to connect to a PATA controller, also enables PATA drives to connect to a SATA controller.Easy to use- guidelines are included. Can accommodate numerous PATA settings such as Master / Slave / Cable Choose.Drive Clever Data can be accessed through this. Compact internal option to SATA / PATA connection concerns.Energy and Activity LEDs- green and red. Straightforward to tell if device or drive is powered and active.A uncomplicated way to turn an unused PATA controller on your motherboard into a spare, albeit slower, SATA connection. Does require a connection to the energy supply. (adapter included)For connecting SATA drive to a PATA controller, has to connect straight to the motherboard- watch your clearance. For connecting a PATA drive to a SATA controller, has to connect directly to the back of the drive- watch your clearance. PATA drive settings need that the user tends to make certain that the drive and adapter are set correctly (ie: Ma/Sl/CA), but this is the nature of PATA rather than an challenge with the adapter. Performs with Linux and Windows Vista and seems to be software program agnostic with modern Operating Systems. A very good answer as extended as you have the clearance. Good for attaching an older hard drive for servicing. I have not tested it, but must perform for Optical Drives as well. Transfer speeds are mainly going to be limited by the interfaces involved, rather than the adapter.

I bought yet another SYBA adapter like this and it was comprehensive garbage, but this appears like it's been made substantially better. Also comes with a SATA cable and Y cable to a floppy power connector, worth four bucks proper there. Blocks a whole IDE port if you are going SATA->IDE, permitting only a single device for the port.

Goes correct into the ata slot on your motherboard. I set the small switches, plugged every little thing in. It worked with 2 sata really hard drives. You can boot with it, which is great. There's practically nothing wrong with it, but it takes energy. Have not tried converting ata to sata but.

Functions as it really should! Included power adapter and sata cable! Would be good if it could pull it's own power, but the included adapter is a nice touch. I honestly didn't dig to a lot with this buy, just a rapid uncover and obtain for me. The value seemed a tiny high for just an adapter, but I hadn't realized it included a power splitter and sata cable. Excellent edition to my bag o tools.

Twice truly, I had place the incorrect HD in the initial time about. I now have three HD's in my rig. Plus this goes both approaches !! IDE to SATA or SATA to IDE None so far. Thanx Newegg !! I decided to appear, just in situation there was such a issue, and there it was !

Ide from and old i810 chipset board. Supporting and recognizing sata. Sweet. Requires old fashioned 3.five" floppy power connector. Although it comes with a legacy splitter such as one. Would be good to have a sata energy connection on deck as effectively but, Even with that I am absolutely Pleased. So going to come in handy.

Transfer speed drops from UDMA5 to UDMA2 ࿁ MB/s) in Tyan MPX S2466N-4M server motherboard This is the very best bidirectional device tested. From the point of view of item management, this is the best product of 11 CCBAs tested (connectors, converters, bridges and adapters, as opposed to HBAs - Host Bus Adapters). Superior device packaging -- fully enclosed PCB, clearly marked connections, no jumpers -- as user-proof as a device like this can get. Contacting consumer service is no-hassle uncomplicated email -- no filling out fields, logging into Syba web site, absolutely nothing. Reply was prompt. Price tag is fantastic. Main drawback is that due to the fact it plugs into the motherboard IDE socket and has only a single SATA connection, can't attach two SATA HDDs to device, sacrifice a single HDD capacity on IDE channel. In addition, like all the CCBAs tested, the interface does not pass muster with Tyan MPX S2466N-4M server motherboard, as transfer mode drops from UDMA five 鲤 MB/s) to UDMA 2 ࿁ MB/s). So is compliant/compatible but not identical to PATA HDD interface.-- Roy Zider

Low-cost remedy for your older IDE devices. *Does not come with an adapter to energy the device.*I had to buy an ATA Male to LP4 Female Energy Cable adapter that added five bucks to the total expense. Read TUDrewser's critique. It would have taken me a whilst to figure out Master/Slave combos to make the device work.

Neat small unit. I wanted to use my old WD 60GB HD as an internal backup throughout my Windows 7 upgrade from XP and my P6X58D mainboard does not have any IDE ports. When i figured out how to hook it all up, anything worked like gangbusters. The transition went truly nicely and I'm still working with it in this configuration. The directions on utilizing this unit are practically nonexistent. I went thru about a half an hour of confusion and had a significant "duh" moment when I finally figured out that you have to power Both the adapter AND the challenging drive separately. I wish the makers of these devices would do a bit superior with preparing their instructions.

It can plug into my old IDE drive and fits the SATA cable on my motherboard. Both the IDE drive and the adapter need to have to be powered, and my computer only has one particular smaller 4-pin power plug (no massive four-pin FDD or HDD plugs). So even with the supplied Y-cable converter, the IDE drive and the adapter can not be powered at the same time. So it does not work. It does look like a decent product, but the directions are vague. The product description should have mentioned about the requirement of having at least one huge four-pin power plug. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer, Thank you for buying our Syba products. We are sorry to hear that the item has stopped functioning as it must be. Please refer to our critiques. We have good evaluations for this item. I think both the IDE hard drive and adapter need to have to be powered on in order for it to function. I would like to point out that we can also concern RMA returns. We generally attempt to provide the most trustworthy merchandise to our customers and all products come with at least three-year warranty. So please don't hesitate to contact us at help@sybausa.com for replacement or question. Regards, Syba Customer Service KN 101910

Worked excellent...allowed me to connect my old IDE hard drive to a SATA on my MB with no issues. May buy an additional to use with other IDE drives I have laying around considering that I have so quite a few open SATA ports. None so far, other than getting to troubleshoot a bit. When I very first plugged anything in my Pc hung on POST for like 30 seconds and then finally entered BIOS. When there, I saw the drive wasn't detected. Dang. So turned it off, looked at the instructions and noticed there are two little switches underneath the SATA ports on the adapter. You need to make certain those switches match up to the HD jumper based on the directions (Master, Slave, CS). It's confusing, simply because it looks like you only will need to set those if you're plugging into an IDE port on the MB...which is not the case. When I set each the HD and adapter to Master, it POSTed quickly and let me into the BIOS exactly where the drive was detected just fine. Created some adjustments in boot order (so it'd treat this as a secondary drive) and the thing booted suitable into Windows. Formatted the drive and all is nicely. Performance is actually genuinely good as well. Couldn't be happier!

Construction high quality is good for the price paid and comes with molex power & Sata cables. Works as advertised! Can be used for SATA HD to IDE MB or SATA MB to IDE HD. Guess time will tell about reliability. The old Gateway 700S Computer MB had IDE connection for the 2001 WD 80GB IDE HD, began to get noisy, time to replace the old perform horse for a WD VelociRaptor 150GB HD for a small extra Robustness on a tired technique employed for net surfing. Applied the free WD edition of Acronis Correct Image to clone the boot drive. It positive beats an OS, application, and up-dates re-install.

I cant give it any pros, cause I can't get it to perform. I have tried six approaches from Sunday with all achievable configurations, but I can't get this adapter to perform. At no time did the bios find the difficult drive. And yes I employed three unique IDE hard drives in case 1 was corrupt.

The item worked after a fair amount of trial and error. I needed the adapter to install a drive off an old laptop to access information. I had the drive and adapter set to slave. No very good. The computer only recognized the drive when every thing was set to master.
