Cons: Capped under 130MB/s with port multiplication.

Pros: Honest-to-goodness working port multiplication. First card among many I've tried that works with Thermaltake BlacX Duet consistently. Cheap.
Comment:
Whether there the second drive was active or not, or even if there wasn't a second drive plugged in, my SSD topped out under 130MB/s. I have a USB3.0 dock that is much faster, but some utilities require the drive to be connected to SATA. Considering we're looking at speeds around 4x that of USB2.0, this makes for an effective combo with the Thermaltake BlacX Duet.

Cons: None

Pros: Cheap and Simple

Works great with my Sans Digital 5-bay array, better than the crappy RocketRaid 622 card that they bundled with it.There's no onboard raid with this card, but that's fine - I reply on Software RAID which seems more reliable anyways. For the cheap price, my drives are no longer dropping from the array and I can finally use my eSata array!

Cons: None really..

Pros: Great price, works great with my Vantec Nexstar HX4 Quad 3.5IN SATA HDD External Hard Drive Enclosure.

Thanks to the review from "Lance W" on this product, I went ahead and bought it for use with my Vantec Nexstar HX4 Quad 3.5IN SATA HDD External Hard Drive Enclosure. Went with this cheap hardware solution and it works extremely well. Using Windows 7. Make sure and visit silicon image website y "http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=32&cat=3&os=0" to get and install the latest drivers for the card.Driver Info:Name: SiI 3132 64-bit Windows BASE Driver for Windows 7File Name: 3132_x64_1.0.15.6_logo.zipDate: 6/24/2009Version: 1.0.15.6File Size: 397 kbThe driver properties window has a built in tool to update  the BIOS, which already had the newest BIOS installed so there was no need for me to download the flash or BIOS software.

Cons: -installation of drivers to win 7 64-bit took awhile to figure out

Pros: -works as advertised-cheap
Comment:
When installing the firmware on windows 7, you'd have to go into your device manager and basically click on the silicon image provided in the link by a previous poster. Works well, getting speeds up to 102 mb/s, way faster than USB 2.0...Although now this kind of hardware is probably obsolete since it's now included on motherboards...I'm just very cheap. Installation is seemless. I have yet to test out the port multiplier capabilities on eSATA. I'm just happy to have fast transfers.

Cons: Not SATA III

Pros: Driver CD included, XP Support, PCI-E
Comment:
Bought this on a budget for testing HDDs with the probox external 4 bay HDD enclosure. Simple to set up and even came with drivers for XP.My only complaint is that its is SATA II and not SATA III but for the price you cant go wrong. even the port multiplier works.

Using this with a Mediasonic HF2-SU2S2 I also picked up from NCIX.OS is Debian Squeeze, Linux kernel 2.6.32-5-686.Card was detected at boot and driver (sata_sil24) loaded automatically. All 3 disk drives are discovered, and xfer speed is consistent with what I'd expect from SATA.Only reason I don't give it a 5 is because it hasn't had any real baking time in my system.

Cons: none that I am capable of figuring out yet

Pros: Easy setup, no real hassle installing the card, although I had to rerun some power cables I had snaked at the rear of my box.
Comment:
Just threw this card in my Asus P7 motherboard. I am not a tech guy at all, in fact being a pro shooter, I am about as far from being a tech guy as possible. I installed the drivers as directed in the instructions, on powerup. Then connected my Media Sonic ProBox. Nothing. fiddled and buggered around until I finally decided to hit the Sync button and the interface button. Suddenly it all works. All 4 of my drives show up, all different sizes. Transfer rates between them is much much faster. Can't really think of anything else to say, other than thanks to you guys who wrote previous reviews.

I purchased this card because I needed a SATA card with port multiplier support. The price looked good and based on other reviews, it seemed it would work fine for my setup. I have it connected to a Mediasonic 4-Bay Enclosure (HF2-SU2S2) with 3 drives of various sizes installed. I downloaded the latest Win7 64bit drivers from Silicon Image's website and have not had any problems so far.

Thx to "Lance W" for the heads up on those Windows 7 x64 driver link. It works great with me. I use it in conjunction with a Thermaltake BlackX eSATA/USB dock and I love the speed. Now why would I use USB instead when I can get much faster speeds with eSATA?? =P

Cons: Nothing yet

Pros: Works with Windows 7 x64Port multiplication!Cheap as frak
Comment:
I bought this card in the hopes that it would support port multiplication in Windows 7 x64 (I'm planning to upgrade to a CrossFire rig in the fall and the P5Q Pro I bought for it doesn't have a controller that supports PM). In Shawn C.'s review he said it doesn't work with Vista x64, but seeing as it was only $20, I decided to take a chance anyway. To my delight it works perfectly if you use the drivers from the Silicon Image site (http://www.siliconimage.com/support/searchresults.aspx?pid=32&cat=3) and not off the CD - thanks to Ben_P for pointing this out to me. I've tried a Vantec eSATA enclosure, Kingwin dual eSATA enclosure, and the Mediasonic 4-bay Pro Box and they all hotswap and all the drives show up as they should. The drives do not show up in "safely remove hardware" though. Works the same way in XP SP3. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-21-09 11:03 PM

Cons: Doesn't appear to work (in Vista 64), drivers haven't been updated since 2006.

Pros: unknown because I can't get it to work!
Comment:
I purchased this product because I was assured that it supported Vista 64 and port multiplying. Now that I have it installed, I'm not sure it does either. The driver is installed and from device manager, it seems to be installed properly and workings. However, I have tested several eSATA drives and none work with this card. These external eSATA drives do work! I am also concerned that this Syba SD-SA2PEX-2E SATA II Controller Card's manual is next to nothing, there doesn't seem to be any support available, and the 64bit driver was last updated in 2006.Additionally, I just noticed that NCIX states: "This product can only be exchanged or replaced with the exact same item." What? Unless someone can tell me how to make this card work in Vista 64, I don't want it!I just want an eSATA card that will allow me to see all my hard drives connected to the ProBox (four drive bay). And so far, I can't even get this card to see a single eSATA drive!
