It does not really look like the picture. The unit is black and silver and it's written Cisco on the top, not Linksys. Speed are really good and works like a charm. Cisco products just rocks ! Easy to install, about 1 minute. That's the kind of products that I need for my small business.

Pros: Works perfectly, fast, small, clean

I haven't exactly stress tested it to see how much it can handle, but it works beautifully non-the-less. Would recommend it for anyone looking for a nice little 8-port gigabit. I've always been impressed by linksys and now linksys-by-cisco products.

Cons: earlier versions prone to heat-related failures

Pros: small, fast, simple, good price
Comment:
The Linksys SD2008 is a compact, slick-looking unit, with a very sturdy metal case. Unlike many comparable switches, it really is just barely big enough to offer 8 ports along one edge. Even the power adapter is small, and designed to use only a single outlet in a crowded power bar. However, after about 9 months in use, my SD2008 died totally. I spent an hour talking to Linksys tech support (including at least 3 disconnections), and eventually got an RMA number. Almost exactly two weeks after shipping the switch to their Toronto-area depot, I received a brand-new unit. All in all, very good service. One thing: my original switch was version 2.1. There have been reports of heat-related failures with that generation. (Version 1.x was the one with the noisy fan; this was dropped in version 2.x.) The new one I got is version 3.0. These have supposedly addressed the problem. So far the new unit working great, so I'm hopeful that this is true.I believe even the 3.0 version still doesn't do jumbo frames. This isn't a big concern for me. Performance is very good, even when moving large amounts of data to a NAS drive. Not many devices will run at full gigabit speed anyway.Even with the reliability problem, I'm looking to order another SD2008 shortly. There's really nothing out there that can touch it in an 8-port, gigabit configuration, especially at the latest $65 price. You can pay just as much for a bulkier, uglier unit and not get the lifetime warranty. However, I do wish that the NCIX.com page specified which revision they're currently shipping. Cons: Doesn't support Jumbo Frames. Has a fan...

Pros: Gigabit speed, slick design
Comment:
I ordered two of these thinking that a GigE switch was a switch but learned before it arrived that it couldn't handle large frames and, almost worst, it actually had a moving part, a fan!... So i returned them and will get a GS108 instead.

Cons: Requires very small screws to mount on a wall

Pros: Nice design, small, works right away.
Comment:
This little box sits well on a desktop. You plug in the power, the ethernet cables and your all done. If you have to mount it on a wall, you'll have to find very small screws. But it works very well.

Pros: Easy to use

I was looking for a decent switch into which I would plug all of my living room networked appliances (game consoles, laptops, even my TV), including my wireless bridge. This little box did the trick. Gigabit is a little overkill due to the wireless link, but I have no regrets.

Cons: Loud-ish fan

Pros: Small form factorWorks as desired
Comment:
I am upgrading my home network to all GIG and needed an affordable switch. This unit has worked out well - the small form factor and 8 ports make this ideal for home networking. Some reviews show the fan is a little loud - I bought a replacement and some heatsinks. The mod is quick and easy and allows the unit to still run cool without the loud noise.Would recommend this product for those looking for a cheap solution to move to GIG ethernet at home.

Cons: Not found.

Pros: Brand name, price, build quality and performance
Comment:
Use it in a small office to link up workstation and printer. Seems like causing less problem than the EZXS88W. Will like see how it performs when our system has been upgraded to gigabite.

Cons: UnmanagedNo jumbo frame support

Pros: Small sizeMetal casingGood price
Comment:
A serious little switch, small size but big on performance! And yes, one of my beefs is it being unmanaged, seriously, an 8-port GB switch unmanaged? I would pay double or triple if it was a managed switch. The 5 port D-Links and such I can see being unmanaged, but not an 8 port or above. And it would be nice if it handled jumbo frames, most of the SMC switches in this league do, come on Cisco, time to catch up! Having said all that, I have now purchased 2 (one work, one home) and would recommend and buy them again for sure.

Cons: -Power connection isn't on back, it's on the side.-LED's (or ports) are backwards, easy to get mixed up.-Lack of status LED's, only one per port.

Pros: -Solid Construction-8 ports-Looks slick-Fanless! (I got the v2 unit)
Comment:
This unit is quite good, works just as it should, I have two workstations using it at gigabit speeds and although I don't know what kind of transfers I'm getting, it's snappy and consistent. I would give it 5 stars in terms of performance, but since there are a few things cosmetically and functionally with the unit itself, I'm going to give it 4 stars, as there is room for improvement.First of all, the power port is on the side. I realize that there is a size constraint as the ports take up all the space on the back, but if they would have made the unit larger and put the power on the back it would have made cable routing that much easier (I'm particular about cables; or lack of them for that matter)Secondly, the ports on the back are number from left to right, 1 through 8, as they are on the front. So the LED on the front corresponds to the port at the opposite corner, which makes it confusing when troubleshooting connectivity issues. Normally, Linksys will have the ports on the back labeled from left to right, 4 (or 8) through to 1. That way they match up with the front. Not a big deal, but something I would have expected for a relatively high-end component such as a gigabit switch. And thirdly, the LED's on the front. To cut costs they use single LED's to convey messages about the port status, solid if connected, blinking of transferring. So I can't tell at a glance which ports are using what. And since there are three different connection standards available (10/100/1000) I would have liked to have been able to determine that from the LED. Shame on Linksys for leaving that out.

Cons: Could be less expensive.I prefer LED's on same side as cables.Doesn't do jumbo frames.

Pros: Compact, sturdy construction, simple.
Comment:
Very nice little switch. Metal casing so it won't break easily. Gigabit speeds but doesn't do jumbo frames. Could be slightly less expensive, but it's not overpriced really. I would prefer to see the LED lights on the same side as the connectors, but most desktop switches seem to be the same as this. I have bought 3 so far and have been satisfied with all of them. Will buy again.
