Cons: Expensive compare to some other SSD

Pros: Quiet, reliable
Comment:
This drive is quiet and reliable. MTBF is better than most of the others.Speaking of speed, it is extremely faster than normal HD, but not a big big different from my other 7200rpm drive. I would expect more from an SSD, but may be I am wrong. But after all, it is a good buy. It will be even better if the price is cheaper.

I got this SSD on sale for $90, and for the price it's unbeatable. I've updated to the latest driver from SanDisk's website, and I've had 0 problems. My motherboard is only SATA 2, but it still boots in less than 20 seconds. This is possibly one of my best tech buys ever. I would highly recommend this SSD to anyone who wants something faster and more reliable than a hard drive. I still use my 320GB HDD as a storage drive, and they work great together. I may throw another in when I build a new system, that would be uber.

Cons: Does NOT work as an OS drive with nVidia nForce590 based boards. Only works at SATA1 speeds on a SATA2 nVidia nForce590 based boards. Sandisk's new R211 firmware seems to have serious issues.

Pros: Appears to work as a storage drive in XP Pro 32bit okay using ICH7-R controller but that's not what I bought them for.
Comment:
Works with Intel's SATA2 ICH7-R controller on an Intel MoBo at 255MB/s write and 247MB/s read but never installed as an OS drive. The above seems great and this BUT that's not what I bought three of these drives for so here's the bad. I am trying to use these Extreme 120GB SSD SATA3 drives on nVidia nForce 590 SLI MoBo’s as OS drives running Win XP Pro 32bit. For starters these drives do not negotiate to the SATA2 speeds that the MoBo controller is capable of and this is just testing them as a storage drives. They get stuck running at SATA1 and this is confirmed by ATTO results. SanDisk’s SSD ToolKit actually shows them as SATA 2 generation. If you attempt to install software after you have installed Win XP Pro SP3 on them or even run an ATTO test you will find the system locks up and does nothing. All three drives did this and yes I did format these drives first using Win7 to get the correct partition alignment. Again, they work as storage drives on the nVidia nForce 590 SLI MoBo’s and return ATTO tests results without crashing ATTO or the system however you only get SATA1 speeds. I have SATA3 HDD on these system and they work fine at SATA2 speeds as both OS and storage drives. So if you are attempting to speed up an older system running XP then I'd stay clear of these SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSDs unless you have a bunch of time to waste, a bag of chicken bones and several sacrificial goats. Maybe it will work under the right alignment of the planets and stars but I don't have time to wait for that to happen. I've wasted three days of my life just trying to get them to work and I give up. Also to note SanDisk’s tech support is useless, contradictory, combative and when the tech rep realises that they made a mistake with the information they gave you then they just put you on hold and either the line goes dead or they never come back. Asking for a level 3 tech will also get you hung up on. SanDisk’s call centre being based in India makes it even worse because half of the time you can’t understand what the heck they are saying which is made worse by the lousy call quality over their IP based system.SSDs still have a long way to go before they are simply just plug and play. For now the "plug and pray" saying is all too true for SSDs.

Pros: Wow, fast, random access.
Comment:
This thing is fastI did a copy comparison to my 5400rpm disk, what windows estimated 2 hour copy/paste from same drive job was done in 30 seconds on this drive.I did tons of research, and this drive is the best for the money. They use their own memory chips, and Sandisk's extreme storage line always had the best speed and reliability. Is not the fastest drive out there, but is the best of the best bang for the buck, and it ranks near the top in speed.I deducted 1 star because nothing is perfect. :P This review was modfied by poster @ 01-29-13 07:09 PM

Cons: Needs firmware update  OOTB.

Pros: Fast. Seems reliable.
Comment:
This drive arrives with a firmware (v2.01) that is known to have TRIM issues. Updated firmware is available that fixes the TRIM problem but (according to the manufacturer's site) it slows the SATA III port to SATA II speeds. Upgrading the firmware turned out to be problematic as well. It's still a good drive for SATA II systems and is a good buy at $90. People looking for a fast drive for SATA III motherboards should look at something else.

Pros: SATA3 performanceSSD Toolbox
Comment:
I bought this to replace a Indilinx based Corsair SSD that completely died. Previous one had constant data corruption that required regular secure erase and rebuilds until it finally died in 2 years. Only had this one for a month, but it comes with a SSD Toolbox which the Corsair SSD didn't have, so it may optimize my O/S for SSD usage better than manually changing the settings. Hopefully, the Sandforce controllers are more reliable than the Indilinx; time will tell. This review was modfied by poster @ 11-21-12 05:59 AM

Pros: - fast- easy to upgrade firmware
Comment:
I bought 2 of these when it was on sale for an extreme deal of the day. One for my PC and the other for my MAC. I thought upgrading the firmware was convenient and easy. It allowed me to use the USB created to upgrade both drives easily and quickly in each machine. So far, it's been working flawlessly and fast in both operating systems (Windows 7 and OS X 10.6.8).

Probably should take this review with a grain of salt as I am not booting OS off SSD (using Vista and it doesn't support TRIM).I use it as secondary drive and install all my games on it. All I can say is I don't even notice load times anymore so it has definitely made my gaming more efficient.

Cons: - Trim not working

Pros: - Cheap- Easy to install- Fast
Comment:
1. After buying and installing, you should upgrade the firmware from R112 to R201.2. Wait for R205 to come out which will fix the Trim issue. If you search for Sandisk SSD Extreme Trim issue on the internet, you'll find a lots of issues with this SSD with the Trim not working. Trim is very important for SSD and not having it working will degrade your SSD.I would suggest that you wait till firmware R205 is out before buying this SSD or buy it and not use it till the firmware update  is out. The new firmware is supposed to be out sometime this year.Link for firmware upgrade: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9328/kw/ssd%20toolkit%20download/related/1

Pros: FastGood price

Only complaint is that I have with this item is that it didn't come with an adapter for a 3.5" mount since most older cases don't come with a spot for a 2.5" drive. Giving 4 stars for this reason only.

Cons: No adapter included.

Pros: Good price t $99.99 for 120GB. Fastest hard drive I've own so far. Sandisk brand which I trust, no issues with any of their products yet.
Comment:
Finally, I've built my computer after a long time having without one. I decided to get a SSD for my boot drive just like everybody. My choices for SSD, based on reviews, are Intel, Crucial and Sandisk. Aesthetic wise, I liked the Sandisk look then Intel and last Crucial. I've own several Sandisk product (USB drives, SD cards, mini SD cards and micro SD cards) already and haven't had issues yet so I thought I'd try their SSD. Being my first SSD, I really love how fast the boot time is. Upgraded the firmware with no problem. Downloaded the Sandisk SSD Toolkit, a handy tool that tells me its temperature and life left. Overall, I'm happy with this SSD and the size is more than what I need. It would have been nice if it came with an adapter.

Cons: Failed within a month. Painful to replace the boot drive of a system.

Pros: Booting speed is fast when the drive decides to work.
Comment:
This drive has a problem within a month I installed it. Periodically it froze itself for 20 to 30 seconds. Contacted Sandisk and discovered it is a common problem. I was given a RMA number to return but I have to ship the drive at my cost. Although the postage could be 10% of what the drive costs, the effort to replace the boot drive was a pain. I anticipated I will need to re-install my system two times - once to swap out the bad drive and once for the replacement drive. It will be very painful for the next 4 weeks. Think before twice before purchase. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-25-12 09:50 PM
