Eric L@NCIX Rating: Review Date: 01/23/13 |
Cons: -no optical drive eject button is a major over sight luckily DVD/blu-ray drives can be ejected via the operating system-No included harness for laptop size mini power connector at time of purchase (can be purchased via NCIX) aka Silverstone CP10-included fans can be a rather load, nice (almost completely hidden) fan speed control switch included on top back of case-may need to read instruction book as there is an order in which to assemble this case.
Pros: -great quality case-fits a mATX gaming system nicely-fits my huge Zalman CNPS10X Extreme CPU Cooler-great cooling performance-impressively small case for a real gaming system-fits a standard size power supply-fairly easy install other than some wiring was tight for space with my huge CPU cooler installed. |
I got this case to make my current mATX gaming system as small as possible while still having sufficient cooling which is in itself a difficult task in small cases without modifications. This case fits the bill and pulled off my objective gracefully. This amazing case that can easily fit my huge CPU cooler measuring at 135(L) X 100(W) X 160(H)mm. It even fits very high end video cards including my mid range HD7870 video card and still room for more.Fits a standard size power supply such as my Corsair Professional Series HX650 (Modular) and modular I recommend for this small case. Small flaw was that fitting the case included internal power adapter was a bit confusing at first. With fan controller or resistors added such as those included with Gelid or Noctua fans this system can be made to run almost dead silent. Left all included case fans in other than the lowest quality rear exhaust fan and switched out with Noctua NF-P12 running off a Gelid fan controller included with "certain" Gelid fans such as the GELID Solutions GELID Wing 12 1500RPM 120mm UV Green Gamer (also beautifully silent).Only major flaw that bugs me is that there is no eject button for this "slot loading" slim (labtop size) optical drive using case. Only option is to eject the CD through the operating system. Slot loading is also hard to find if you want a blu-ray drive so hard my only options at the time of writing this was China and one place in the USA which could only be located via Ebay. For regular DVD you're in luck Ebay has a nice Silvertone slot loading drive to go with this Silvertone case aka Silverstone Slot Loading Slim DVD Combo Optical Drive.Yes I would recommend this case for sure, after having installed in many computer cases this one is the smallest useable for a gaming system while maintaining cooling effectiveness.
