Form issue, construct high quality, quiet Integrated VGA does not perform with Fedora or Suse, jittery image. Hope I can get it to perform with a PCI graphics card but I have an I3-540 and 1 reviewer couldn't get it to function with a CPU with integrated graphics. I purchased this to create an Amahi server, which only runs on Fedora. Installed Fedora 12 and that worked until I began installing updates. Tried Fedora 14 and Suse 11.3, attempted BIOS update, no luck. Does work in Win7, so I don't think my hardware is negative, just desires Linux drivers.

Decent size and building. Installation took me below an hour. Installed Ubuntu on it. No challenges (well, Ubuntu place the refresh price of my ancient NEC monitor to 76hz, but shifting that to 60hz fixed the concern). Inexpensive (although not as low cost now) Died following a week. Machine froze; power cycle sent the fan to 150%. Next power cycle brought on the box to start up w/ fan, then die - didn't post. eSATA on front is annoying.Front drawers (CD + bottom connections) are plastic and cheap. Waiting a week to see if case Š lives... Wonderful little box. Look fits in quite nicely with A/V equipment. Almost silent beneath standard operation. Fans spin up in the course of gaming or other intensive applications, but are nonetheless comparatively quiet. Adequate power to manage the system specs listed under (though that is probably the max). Airflow could be improved considerably. CPU temps under load are a full 20c cooler with the case cover off and GPU temps 10c cooler with the cover off, implying that there is quite a bit of space for airflow improvement (temps are still acceptable with cover on). Don't expect to overclock with out modding for airflow and upgrading the PSU. Method Specs: Core i5 760, Radeon 1GB HD6850, 8GB GSkill RAM, 1xBD player/DVD burner, 2x 500GB HDD.

I thought from years of encounter with Shuttle this would make a nice laptop, the second 1 is. The powers provide is a joke 300 WATTS come on now that is just being low-cost!(Yeah an individual turn me onto a video card that will run on 300 watts or much less please.)I purchased the initial 1 it was DOA had to pay for return shipping which I truly disagree with. The second Shuttle came in and is operating.I bought the upgraded energy supply from shuttle costs 贄.00 with shipping. Why does NewEgg not carry this item?So I figured oh properly it was my turn to get a terrible 1 I imply hey considering that 2004 I have only constructed how numerous Shuttles of different models? a hundred probably? So I rolled the dice and had my wife's firm get this model. Guess what another DOA Shuttle. Now adequate is sufficient I am sick and tired of going via the RMA approach SHUTTLE I invite you to get your Top quality Handle act collectively this is not acceptable at all. Paying all these shipping costs is generating the Shuttle too expensive. DELL is searching much better and greater. I think I could be done with Shuttle they are giving me the impression that they are loosing the high quality they after had. I genuinely do not want the headaches and delays triggered by poor quality control. As I look around I see much more and a lot more no post problems with this model.

The H55 functions great with the i3-540 CPU. The integrated graphics produces WEI of 5.1 on the x64 Win7. The HD video playback is quite very good, so I choose not to use a dedicate graphics card. It has four memory slots. There are a few troubles with this Shuttle. 1. The case is not nicely developed. The top rated cover does not fit with the case properly. The case produces loud humming noise casued by the vibration of the ventilation fan. The mechanical design and style could be greater.2. The size of the case is significantly larger. It is going to take more of your desktop space. (I got utilized to the older generation of Shuttle, which is incredibly compact.Ɲ. There is no DVI output from the on-board graphics. You will need a minitor with HDMI input or use the analog VGA input. There are only 6 USB ports on the case, which is type of low in nowadays's normal. The good news is that there are two USB headers on the MB. You can get more 4 USB ports if you are will to an expansion slot on the back.

Awesome consumer service from Newegg along with good black friday rates. Shuttle gives tiny to know help, not beneficial in delivering any trouble shooting. Help list is jacked up, prior to my acquire i known as Shuttle to confirm that in truth the offered PSU outputs sufficient watts and amps for a GTX 460 and they one hundred% assured tested in our facility. Had to commit an further 贄 on 500 watt PSU.Not all DVD drives operate with this program as the button don’t line up.Terrible usb connections.Case is not well developed nor does the cover fit effectively.Motherboard had a quick as the program would not run stable. Had to send it back to Newegg to get but a different replacement. Among the technique flaws and probably the worst assistance from the manufacturer, I can advise this to anybody.

Really simple develop. Little, nicely completed, clean front panel style. Heat pipe cooling method. I'd like 1 more USB port in the front. This is the 12th Shuttle XPC I've constructed. They're outstanding little systems that seem to last forever. I bought this one with a PNY NVidea Quadro Pro video card, and I5-750 CPU and 8G of ram to run Solidworks CAD on. So far it's outstanding! Obtain all your tech stuff from NewEgg - they're superb also.

Looks pretty sleek, internally the case and cables are laid out good and cleanly. Appreciate the heat pipe CPU cooling answer. Attempting to make a HTPC to sit next to the Tv, this seemed like a very good barebones case to choose up. However it didn't truly function, and I had to send it back.I spent the whole weekend trying to install Ubuntu, Win XP, or Win 7 (any would perform for me) but could never get it operating stable. Machine would invariable kernel panic or BSOD in the course of set up or, when the install succeeded, right after an hour or two of operating. Strain tested just about every other new element (CPU, RAM, HD) extensively in other machine, no issues there, this and error codes point to a flaky motherboard on the Shuttle. At very first I thought it was just the HDMI out causing problems, but kept obtaining the exact same troubles with built in VGA as nicely. Actually didn't get pleasure from wasting a entire Saturday narrowing this down. Warning: you Can\'t RETURN THIS FOR A REFUND. I'd have preferred to order a diverse bare bones core i case/mobo combo from anyone that is NOT Shuttle, but you can only return for a replacement. I'm rolling the dice on a new one particular, but it appears like others have raised reliability with this motherboard as nicely, so I'd most likely have bought something else if I could do it all more than once more.

I built a SFF HTPC with this one particular. Paired it w/ a fairly high finish Lynfield CPU, Nvidia GT220 GFX (fanless) and a BluRay drive. It is quiet but not completely silent. That becoming mentioned, covering the insides of the top rated cover with Dynamat gets the noise down to the point that you can\'t hear something from 4+ft, which is good adequate for my setup. All in all, this is a excellent small package for the value! The power provide has a tendency to whine a little. Not as much as it applied to w/ Core2 generation systems but nevertheless it's there - see the Dynamat comment above. And one particular additional little annoyance: Only a single USB port in the front. This is the third Shuttle Pc I have built... It's almost certainly one particular of the most price successful options out there, brief of getting a Dell or some thing like that...

It mostly performs .double slot graphics cards fit.4 DDR3 ram slotsLight weight. BIOS instability, CPU overheats soon after resume from standy (fan speed stays low). Heatsink is not genuinely in a position to deal with 95 watt CPU - load temps in mid to higher 80's - can not decrease CPU voltage, only boost. Construction feels flimsy. Difficult to get BD-ROM drive to line up with the door open button. Can't get into BIOS with my logitech USB keyboard - but the Cherry works ok. After numerous years of working with the MSI Hetis series as my go to SFF Pc, I was dissappointed by most aspects of this method - but it gets the job accomplished. CPU temp drops significantly when the case cover is removed, possibly I need to drill some holes in the front to let air in.Tech assistance was not very helpful - I could not clarify to them that it overheats After resume, not in the course of standby.

Newegg has been wonderful the entire time, one hundred% consumer satisfaction is there only priority. Shuttle lies, blames other companies and makes any excuse that it can’t be a hardware failure. It took three barebones to lastly get the system to work adequately or at least for the most part. Matters range from method not posting, failed memory slots to weak usb connections. I have tried numerous keyboard and mice combos and each one particular micro stutters. Attempted both two.4ghz to Bluetooth.

I had no dilemma assembling the systems considering that I have constructed numerous Shuttle systems in the past. The 1st program had the Intel i3 and the second has the i5 processors. Newegg did a great job of communicating with me and the service is tops. None

This is my third shuttle develop and wanted a thing to take care of newer age games and photo editing and processing.Core i5 750 8GB Gskill Ripjaws EVGA GTX 460 1GB뢘bit Windows 7 Premium WD 500GB HDThis exceeds my expectations of what Shuttle can provide for the price tag. Idle temps and load temps are way inside operating spec. The laptop or computer is quiet, though you can make it quieter with an aftermarket fan for the I.C.E cooler. Even so I do program on water cooling and I myself will be upgrading the stock fan.No complaints with this computer, I will be building another 1 soon, maybe with an i7. My only concern was the 300W PSU. I wasn't confident it was capable of handling all my parts but it performs fantastic and I have had no troubles therefore far. I don't foresee any either. Excellent machine for the income.

Shuttle is tiny! Like the shuttle but if you order 1, make sure the intel processor supports the onbard video. I have an intel i5-7xx which doesn't assistance the video. an i5-6xx would... Doesn't make a lot sense and spent a whilst figuring out what the problem was. A search beneath "Why the Shuttle model SH55J2 doesn’t give POST?" need to give you a PDF with much more infoOf course it doesn't say this on the Newegg description so I'm now hosed / want to order a video card. We'll see what newegg does to compensate if something. Wish new egg description was more full.

This method is quiet and effective. I fitted it with an Intel Core i7 720 (Item #N82E16819115213), XFX Radeon HD 5770 (Item #N82E16814150447), 2 Corsair XMS3 8GB Kits (Item #N82E16820145315), a LG Black 10X Blu-ray Burner (Item #N82E16827136181), 2 Western Digital 500 GB SATA 2 Tricky Drives and Windows 7 64Bit Home Edition. I will be upgrading the Radeon HD 5770 with an XFX Radeon HD 6850 (Item #N82E16814150516) shortly. In addition, I bought an 500 Watt upgrade power supply (AX/PC63J for SH55J) directly from Shuttle for 贄. This is the similar power supply utilized in the Shuttle SX58J3 (Item #N82E16856101093) The initially unit I received was defective and wouldn't post. All it would do immediately after hitting the power buttons was spin up the CPU and GPU fans to complete speed for possibly five seconds, then power them off for five seconds ahead of repeating this. I RMA'd the unit and received a replacement that worked without having any difficulties.Due to the size of the case, I was restricted in the length of the upgrade video card I could obtain. I originally ordered a Radeon HD 6870 but had to downgrade to the Radeon HD 6850 dues to length constraints. If the power switch connector was in a distinct place on the mother board and the SATA connectors had been not in the way, this wouldn't have been an problem. The method runs ten degrees cooler with the lid off. I wonder if it wouldn't run a tiny cooler if the cover had far more holes. Instead of using the thermal paste included, I purchased Arctic Silver 5 (Item #N82E16835100007). It was much easier to apply. This is the initially time I didn't do a clean install of windows when upgrading hardware. I was upgrading from an AMD Athlon64 X2 running on a Shuttle SN27P2. Right after booting to safe mode, Windows 7 was able to auto detect all but the LAN driver and after a reboot, all I had to do was upgrade the LAN driver in the device manager with the one included on the CD.Just before I did this upgrade, the preceding program had AMD's Fusion Utility for Desktops installed and Windows 7 was working with this plan's power profile. I noticed that the CPU core temperature was essential when the CPU was % utilized. Then I changed the Windows 7 power profile to energy saver. This fixed the overheating issue for me.

Looks shiny. DOA. Inexpensive exterior parts. This is my third (maybe fourth) Shuttle and I've been incredibly pleased with them up until this point. Ahead of I could even deduce the power provide was DOA, I had to fix the power button as it was broken on arrival. Soon after taking the front off, the power button is attached by some extremely flimsy plastic on every single finish to act as the spring and a wire appropriate behind the button to hit the actual power switch wired to the mobo. In any occasion, the wire was bent, so upon pressing the power button, the wire would graze the actual power switch and slip past it generating it impossible to turn the power on. Immediately after straightening the wire to really flip the power switch, it became apparent that the PS was DOA. Just to reiterate an additional comment right here, the front bottom panel and USB ports are also produced of the very same flimsy plastic as the power button. Even though nothing truly broke in my whole 5 hours of ownership, it surely has a give and is no exactly where close to as solid as prior models.Though it's not clear anyplace, if you're operating an i5 760 (no on die graphics), I think you may not be in a position to use the integrated graphics on the mobo and would have to buy a separate graphics card. Clearly, I didn't make it that far in my testing.

Compact and peppy little unit. Nevertheless effectively developed internally. Externally it feels cheaper that older versions. Hate the front plastic - it won't final extended. The energy button is correct next to the button to open/close the DVD drive - only accidentially hit it when, but still. Earlier models also included a HDMI->DVI adapter, but this model did not. Pretty lame. eSATA on the front?? Ok, whatever. Only has 4 USB ports on the back, but does have two open USB headers so you can quickly add a few far more ports and use all the spares you have in drawers collecting dust. General it nevertheless met my desires, but feels like they cheaped out a bit.
