Cons: Consumes more power in my netbook than the original 5400 Seagete drive.

Pros: Low heat. Faster than the average mechanical drive.
Comment:
I think the reason my battery life has been cut down is because the computer is operating at full processor performance now that it is not waiting for the drive...that's my weak theory. That or this thing sucks mor juice than a 5400 rpm drive. Honestly, it is kinda a waste of money for the space you get, some of the new mechanical drives are just as fast and cheaper and come with 500 GB...and probably eat the battery at the same rate.

Cons: - Expensive $ per GB (as with all SSD)- Does not include mounts

Pros: - Cheap (Got in on sale for 105, Seems to be on sale constantly now)- Fast (Windows 7 loads up quick, so do games)- Quiet (None of those spinning, clicking noise)
Comment:
Overall a great product. Would recommend everybody to get one to run their OS + a favourite game or two. Also google for the SSD tweaker to make sure you have the right configuration in windows.

Picked this up to run Windows 7 in my new rig. Have not built a computer in a couple of years and was intrigued by SSD's. This is a noticeable upgrade from a 5400rpm drive. It is much faster and is silent in comparison. I also installed Starcraft 2 on this drive and load times are relatively quick. I expected quicker load times, and was suprised by a WEI rating of 6.8. I assume the low index score is due to its small capacity, but I am not sure. Overall this pairs great with a 1TB storage drive. I have no complaints. Windows is very responsive and cold to desktop is about 20 seconds. **************AMD Phenom x6 h 3.8ghz 8G DDR3 Ripjaws 1600ASUS M4A89GTD PRO

I bought this drive for use in my new Macbook Pro 13 inch (2010) and the match up could not have worked better. Startup takes less than 8 seconds, shutdown takes less than 2. Files transfer fairly fast and applications open up very snappily. After installing Snow Leopard and all the applications that came with iLife, I have a good 45 GB left to use. Space is not a concern for me because I am only using this computer for University, (rather than a media center) where it'll be busled around a lot, but thanks to the non movable parts of the SSD will hopefully last a lot longer than a conventional laptop. The low power requirement of the SSD also gives the laptop a lot more battery power which is nice, though varies by usage of course.

Can't beat this for $107. Sure, there are faster SSDs, but if you are upgrading from an HDD the difference will be astounding. Boot Windows 7 in under 15 seconds, shut down in under 5 seconds. Loads office suite instantly.

Pros: - speed- price
Comment:
Most notebooks come with core i3 and i5 cpus, 4GB DDR3 ram, and 1080p+ ready video cards. It is sad to have a 5400rpm HD to drag all other components behind.Getting an SSD like this eliminates the weakest link, or at least makes it a lot faster, and narrows the major speed gap between your other hardware. A must in any laptop/PC.

I bought this drive to replace my 5400rpm harddrive. It was worth every penny, it is so much faster. Everything opens instantly or within a second. Folders used to take a second or two to open, now they just appear immediately. Firefox used to take five or more seconds to first launch, now it takes only one second. At the same time I bought an external housing and stuck in the harddrive I took out of my laptop to use as storage. I am very happy with my decision to buy this SSD. On another note, five stars to NCIX's customer support. I was tired and somehow I managed to add the wrong product to my cart and then checkout with it. I only realized later when I read the product name in my email. I sent in a ticket to request the change in my order and they fixed it promptly. NCIX is by far the best online retailer I have dealt with.

Loads office suite instantly. From most expert reviews, this is seen as a mid-level SSD for entry-level price. I get transfer rates above the rated 250mb/s reads. Only thing I've tried that's faster is a pair of SSD in RAID.

I recently picked one of these SSD up while there were on sale for $107. Installed windows 7 on it as well as programs that I use quite a lot such as the Adobe CS5 programs as well as a few games. All of my other data is stored on a terabyte HDD. Overall, getting a SSD is one of the best upgrades to a pc for the cost and this being a cost effective drive makes the upgrade even more feasible. There is absolutely no reason not to be booting the OS from an SSD these days

SSD's are slowly starting to become more affordable, and it's about time too. This drive went into an HTPC, absolutely essential for any HTPC to have an SSD. Files are stored on WD Green drives in an external enclosure or in the case. Installation was a breeze in my Silverstone case, even with a lack of accessories.

Pros: Quick compared to conventional hard drive, absolutely silent, power consumption.
Comment:
Using this drive for my OS/boot drive (Windows 7, 64-bit Ultimate) in my HTPC. Setup was simple and bios detected it without a hitch. The speed is great and this drive cannot be heard. With Windows, office and xbmc installed with all updates I still have approx 30GB of free space on it. I'd have no issue recommending this drive to family or friends. I store all my media on a green western digital 2TB drive, which mated nicely with this SSD.

Cons: - Runs hot (can't compare to other ssd's), hotter than a platter drive in the same env.... average 44C - 48C, wonder when they'll start adding passive cooling on the chips- 7% spare (notebook use)- Low IOPs (ok for notebook use)

Pros: - Fast- Supports TRIM- Cheaper than others
Comment:
Installed in my laptop (Asus F8SV-B1). Runs latest Ubuntu - Lucid. One aligned partition, ext4 mounted with trim support (2.6.35.7 kernel)... average read speed 245MB/sec, max 255MB/sec, min 225MB/sec. Access time 0.3ms.If only it ran cooler than this. Quite surprising too, as it was always marketed as cool & quiet. Well, quiet it is. But not so cool :)Overall, it's awesome, surpassed my expectations in speed. It's all just snappy. Sandforce can't be twice as good as it costs twice as much, that's for sure.

Cons: It's not like plugging in a HDD, you need to know what you are doing and make a few adjustments in Windows.

Pros: Affordable way to experience SSD technology, great way to give your OS a shot in the arm.

Bought 2 of these on sale for mine and my wife's machine, the idea being to put a fresh install of Windows 7 and Final Fantasy XIV when it comes out on them. The rest of our programs would go on our HDD's.I did a bit of reading and learned about the write limitations of SSD's, and that even though there was no danger of practically hitting it through normal use there were still precautions you should take.Windows 7 was nice enough not to include the SSD's in our Defrag schedules, so no need to disable that. Instead of turning off the swap file or limiting the size, I simply relocated it to our large HDD's. I also turned off the Windows crash dump file, since I don't need it writing everytime we crash when I'm overclocking. lol.Overall I think I have the SSD's fairly isolated, and they are performing well. 6.9 Windows Experience scores for the both of us. Windows boots up incredibly fast, and my wife (who still plays WoW) says that game load times are STUPID fast. No more standing around Dal or Org waiting for players to appear. Once the game loads, she's 'in'.Definitely a solid purchase, would buy again.

For a budget SSD I was not expecting this kind of performance. I benched it against a Velociraptor and it chewed it up. Boot time halved, game load times shaved by a few seconds, copying small files to itself doubled in speed while big files saw a 25% improvement. Program install times also improved. My only regret is I bought it for $110 - the week after it dropped to $100.

This little drive is a steal at 100$. Brought my windows experience index score from 5.9 to 6.8. Bootups are more than twice as fast in my case (upgraded from a 500 gig WD Cavair Blue). Apps launch without delay as well.64 Gigabytes is just enough for the OS, common applications and two or three modern games. Programs I don't require to run at optimum, I keep in my backup drive.Very happy with my purchase.
