high price used to stop me buying intel ssd. Now they are pretty much same as other competitor. this 330 240gb was an amazing deal for me, and mine is retail, comes with mounting kit and nice 'speed demon' sticker. it's very reliable, I run trim regularly, and diag time by time. 4 month, so far so good. 330 is slower than 520, also slower than crucial M4. But the gap only reflects on benchmark score. I own 330, 520, and m4, I can't feel much diff for common daily use. BTW, one previous review mentioned the freeze issue on his T61. I have to say, this fast ssd can not perform alone, they need other system components to match up. I tried to install one ssd on 4 yrs old notebook with intel core2 duo cpu. ssd can't perform designed speed, freeze up after startup. But not ssd's fault, I put the same ssd in a new build pc, it runs fast, score twice in benchmark, and never freeze. In all, 330 is great ssd prod from intel, especially after price became reasonable. Now they are not expensive, but quality doesn't drop. |

I just discovered that this is a common bug and Intel refuses to issue a firmware update to fix. They don't recognize that there is problem. Symptom: while browsing the web in either IE or Firefox, my T61 freezes for approx 30 seconds. You can't do anything until the system unfreezes. It's random, but seems to be more common early after a system start up. |

I bought this elsewhere because it was on special but a couple of days later NCIX had it on for the same price. Everything went fine installing a fresh windows and I like their toolkit. Testing on CrystalDisk indicates it seems to be about the same speed as my previous 120GB OCZ Solid. I thought the version I bought was retail but it turned out it was the same reseller version that NCIX has. No big deal, it's just missing a screwdriver and the cable for transferring windows for a laptop.I give it 4 stars because it's too soon (3days) to see how reliable it is but so far, very good. |
