If you need a way to get a large storage drive into a laptop, this is probably the best way to do it. 1tb SSDs are still too expensive to be feasable for mass storage |

Cons: Seagate software DOES NOT support USB cloning

This SSHD seemed like a great idea to speed up my HP ENVY dv7. I did not realize I had a second internal drive bay (no connection wiring provided, of course)so I was doing an external USB clone. The Seagate software referred to does not work with USB connections - I asked them. I finally found EaseUS ToDO Backup FREE 6.5 which worked cleanly the first time. Be sure to turn off all non essential programs - AV especially! |

this SSHD needs to "learn" before being very speedy. This is a really nice combination of the high capacity of a regular hard drive but with a built in SSD that access the files very fast. |

Cons: Not a 7200 RPM disc. Would definitely increase the read speeds with a faster HDD. Seek times of non-cached data are that of a 5400 RPM 2.5" drive, keep that in mind.
Pros: Very fast read/write speeds, sustained write above 120MBps - great for network backups as a hot swap disc - would also be great in a laptop as a data drive/game drive. Comment:
For applications that are used on a regular basis, there is a significant decrease in loading times. |

Bought this to replace the Toshiba OEM drive in a laptop. Was easy to install in an Acer Aspire and didn't take too long to load up the standard Win 7 x64 setup. Currently, the drive doesn't appear to be much faster than the OEM TOshiba drive on boot up (quite a bit slower than the OCZ SSD) but I understand there's a bit of training the drive involved.Will re review in a few weeks so see if speed improves. |
