low cost inexpensiveI lost so much information on this drive. it just ejected itself, employed drive utility on the make & stated it required repairs. couldn't get an of my information back off it & can't even reformat it. I've under no circumstances, ever had such comprehensive troubles with any other drives. Will under no circumstances purchase an additional seagate again. I'm not even going to bother sending it back for a replacement below warranty. Don't opportunity losing your data, cos if it happened to me it's bound to come about to someone else.

Uncomplicated to plug in. Software program totally free! USB two. Quick USB Cord. I had a Western Digital 1 TB drive years ago and it started clicking, ever since I have bought Seagate drives and they have by far much better functionality, and last longer.

Really Fast and effecient after "Properly Set Up" Quiet. Not a portable unit but I didn't want portable I purchased this on an additional web site for a little additional but works good. It Must be set up properly. I see these posts about not staying on, "set up the energy saver to longer", and clicking, "If your house is pretty quiet Hard Drives essentially click when transfering data. Don't Set something on it and don't set it on its side set it flat. People speak about becoming slow its truly a 7200rpm drive about as very good as on in most Pc's. High amounts of Massive Files is gonna be slow there is no way around that. General Wonderful Product if your unsure obtain it Load some info on it and wait a week if you notice one thing then send it back, but recognize this there is constantly a terrible egg in a bunch.

The only point is fantastic about this item is the cost. Received hard drive although deployed and as quickly as I plugged it into my computer system it doesn't perform. I would not advise anyone to by this difficult drive. I have also contacted Seagate personally and had a very difficult time trying to resolve the dilemma or speak to a person live chat. I would suggest that everyone not to acquire this brand of hard drive.

silent, higher capacity, low price tag, runs nicely, low temp non so far I purchased this distinct drive at an additional retailer, I am extremely happy with it. I have done adequate usage on it by now to have identified any concerns. I could have been one of the fortunate ones, so your milage might differ. My suggestion is obtain from newegg, and use the device A LOT withing the return period. Like most HDD's, if they are going to fail withing three-five years ,it will be withing 30 days. (and normally withing the 1st 90 hours of usage). So run it, use it, move files on and off, for a week, if it operates fine after that, it will most likely last a lengthy time.

it is a fantastic deal for the price tag provided. i have recieved the harddrive today in a very good condition. I am statisfied with the item so far. I have heard some -ve comments not too long ago that in 20 min the solution clicks (unplugs itself). However Upon investigation i located that when we install Dashboed software , there is a setting which make the device sleep soon after 15 min of in activity to save its life. i have created it never , other individuals might choose their own decision. But i personally feel that this is excellent item. Practically nothing so far as i am a 1 day owner of the item. Lot additional comments to come soon after testting additional.

Huge and low-cost. I bought this as a drive for nightly backup and lengthy-term storage. Sometimes backup will fail, as for some explanation the drive will just disappear. This happens fairly regularly. A equivalent dilemma that freaked me out was exactly where the drive was located, the files were visible, but I couldn't open any of the files. Pulling the energy plug from the back and plugging it back in solves the difficulty. If I did professional work, this drive would be unacceptable as-is, because it does not reliably remain obtainable. My old, substantially smaller capacity Western Digital external drive by no means had this difficulty. Unnerving, and I may possibly acquire a different drive because I don't trust this 1 to actually keep my data.

Incredibly big capacity.Somewhat low-cost with promo code compared to other drives of equal capacity. - Only two year warranty (despite what the description might say).- Quite loud compared to other externals I've applied.- The plastic case was generating a rattling sound for the duration of the initially minute which was fixed by kinda flexing the two plastic halves of the case together.- Right after copying about 60GB of information to the drive, I hear a kerchunk... kerchunk... kerchunk each and every two or 3 minutes followed by a small bit of grinding. Perhaps it's moving information into the drive so rapidly that you can hear the bits slamming against the back of the case. Whilst it still appears to copy information to and from the drive, with a sounds like that, I don't think it'll do it for long. I'll be returning mine. Why can't any individual make decent electronics these day? And what happened to 5 year warranties for tough drives? It's practically like they know they aren't meant to last. When I ordered the drive, Newegg had it listed with a three year warranty. The drive I received only has a two year warranty.

It's a good size and operates well. Doesn't have e-SATA, I was incredibly disappointed when I found out (didn't seriously spend interest when I was acquiring it -- just purchased for a storage drive). Also the power management function on the drive is somewhat annoying, it shuts off right after about 10 or 15 mins and requires about ten seconds to start off up once more. This is extremely annoying simply because anytime I do just about anything I have a ten second lag due to this drive getting off and the OS usually has to access it for some stupid explanation. Easy way I got about it is to place all my music on it and play music all the time (which I normally do anyway).

The expense. Incredibly low-cost drive at 2TB for 贄. Larger than other equivalent 2TB difficult drives. Poor construction - energy connector was slightly off kilter from the hole on the case. A rattling sound instantly inside the case - possibly a piece of plastic from the manufacturing process. Tough drive spin down is incredibly frustrating. I was employing a mac, creating it difficult to set instances for the drive to spin down - also, the mac was reactivating the drive. The spin down and reactivation meant that the drive kept mounting and unmounting incorrectly, causing havoc. Faulty sectors had been detected a week into use. Drive began clicking intensely about 1 month into use. Horrible buy. Be prepared to RMA this drive and that you have added back ups of your 2TB worth of data. I would advocate Western Digitals 2TB Components challenging drive as an alternative of this one particular. The drive seems to just carry out a lot better, quieter.

Space, Noise level, Speed, Lays flat, Reputable Brand, Sturdy Drive, and Application to adjust power settings is included on the drive. None Seagates are hardy tiny drives. I chose this model simply because it lays flat. My older 500 GB stands upright and those are extremely poorly balanced (I.E. Top rated Heavy with modest base). The 500GB has fallen 2 and 1Κ feet to the floor at least 6 instances and nonetheless keeps going. Seagates are by and large incredibly hardy and trustworthy. I am happy with the information transfer rate on this model it's substantially more rapidly than my 500GB. It makes a tiny clicking noise when it's energy setting kicks in but it took three days for me to even notice. I suppose it's barely audible to me more than my Quad Core's Huge PSU fan and my GPU's FanYet another plus is that the light on the front blinks while data is transferring. So if you're moving 200GBs of information you'll know exactly when it's completed even if you're not at the pc at that moment. It only took me 2-3 hours to transfer 480GB of data onto it which is very quickly compared to my older drive.

All round a good way to back up files. With 2terrabytes you don't have to worry about space which tends to make this wonderful. It is economical and does what it's supposed to. If you leave unattended it will turn off and on once more(it has a mind of its personal). Also it gets a little warm and makes use of two. usb. This is good if you have patience due to the fact it doesn't have e-sata to transfer files rapidly. But like I said you can't go incorrect with 2tb and for the value I'd say it is fair. Oh and most of these bad critiques are most most likely simply because they don't know how to format the drive or have and know-how of how a tough drive functions.

High amount of storage. Sleek appear. Comes with backup software program (if you want it). Rapid as can be expected for USB two.. No energy-button or status lights, if its humming I assume its on. Rather-brief USB cable Ɠ-feet, I guess six-feet would be just as well darn a lot). Purchased this for the wife for storage-expansion, but ended up replacing it with a smaller two.five" 1TB FreeAgent, this just isn't truly portable. I can burn data straight from this drive to a DVD (single-layer DVD in about six mins), so its not as well slow, but copying 500GB of information took a couple of hours. Right now I would purchase USB 3., specially at 2TB, but a year ago that wasn't an solution.Attempted the Sync software, wasn't specifically what we wanted (scheduled backups don't function nicely if its not plugged in at the time), but it wasn't undesirable either. Also has the selection for synchronized mode which I assume operates whenever its plugged-in, but haven't tried it out. Also, this only lays flat. Unless we threw one thing out, this drive will not stand sidways (it's beveled so it won't balance). I retain it on the floor due to the fact of this, but it seems to be ok down there, assuming I don't kick it as well substantially.

The capacity for the price tag I paid was really great. The drive will disconnect numerous time via out the day. It's taking place not only on my system but many of my good friends as well. It will disconnect and reconnect inside couple seconds. I've attempted it straight connected to computers and through a powered USB HUB. Not satisfied with it's connection challenge.

An affordable external storage resolution. Tends to make sufficient clicking noises at random instances to lead one to believe that it's about to fail. When I initially plugged it in it would unmount uncontrollably. After carrying out research, downloaded Seagate Manager and changed the internal power settings in the firmware. That fixed it for about two weeks, then it began to unmount again. I'm finding some thing else that is not Seagate. Will not operate as a time machine drive. Seagate says that it should, but it doesn't. Don't do it! Save your self the headache and go with something diverse. My pal has the 1.5TB version of the identical drive and he's possessing the similar challenges. I'm so disappointed in seagate. I used to be a fan, but I'm not anymore.
