Good reliable drive, little in size, wonderful small docking cradle and choices to expand... None yet... Only issue that is that when two are plugged in at a time on windows, you need to go into Windows Computer system Manager and set the second disk to online. It will say one thing about a conflict. Just suitable click on it and set to on the net... I don't look at this a Seagate challenge, but a Microsoft one...

Runs relatively quiet. I notice it a bit more I guess due to the fact I'm not really applied to it getting right here but. Nonetheless, quiet and good. Massive capacity, although I'm not confident of the transfer speeds because I'm working with it with my old lappy appropriate now, and the USB ports aren't wonderful.Amazing that you can use it to plug in external HDD's, as I'm going to do some HDD cloning here quickly, so I can just plug it in actual simple. Ummm, none that I can think of. The auto backup computer software it comes with tends to make it run a lot, but that's in all probability just due to the fact the computer I'm working with it with is old. I just uninstalled the program and do backups myself when I need to have them. Excellent item, sits suitable subsequent to my second monitor on my desk and doesn't take up substantially space at all. Really like that it's pretty future-proof in that it has the optional USB 3. port. I know if I ever get around to creating my sweet desktop I'll be in a position to use this at fantastic speed with the USB three. attachment.

Huge capacity. Consists of cable, energy supply, some computer software I did not use. I bought two to do alternate backups and keep some redundancy. Beep Beep Beep. Two units dead. Both just 1 month old. Out of dozens of external HDDs, I have in no way had failures. These are the only ones. Utterly pathetic. They spin up, beep awhile, then quit. I did manage to get private and confidential data on there so there's no way I'm going to send in for replacement. Understand from my misfortune.

Large capacity, quick transfer I reviewed a when back about the heat. Well it hasn't changed, but no difficulties there. I have been having concerns with the drive not powering down following shutting down my Computer. Immediately after numerous hours searching google and speaking with tech assistance, it seems this is a pretty frequent concern. Supposedly the drive was made to run at all instances. If you google it and study through the seagate forums you'll see what I'm speaking about. All round it's a decent drive. I am concerned about it operating all of the time at the temps it runs it and how it'll influence its lifespan.

RMA was quick and painless Issue would reset each ten-15 minutes. Seems QC must be watching these drives a tiny superior. I have bought Seagate considering that the starting. This is my 1st a single dieing so I hope it does not take place once again. Fantastic organization 1 undesirable encounter compared to more than one hundred great.. Not poor odds... Seagate please start taking much better manage of the QC... Thank You

I completely enjoy the capability to upgrade this drive. But even additional than that, I adore the reality that it has a removable eSATA port in the dock. This signifies you can use literally any eSATA drive ƒ.5" or 3.5") with the dock - this makes factors Incredibly beneficial, and I would have gladly bought the base alone for this cause. I was looking for a 2 TB HDD that I could activate and put into an external enclosure, and not only was this less costly (the cost is phenomenal), it was also just as uncomplicated. Write speed is a small slow. Upon further inspection, the drive itself is 7200 RPM, but file transfers from my laptop's HDD aren't as quickly as I could have hoped. This may be fixed with the USB 3. dock, even though - I'm certain Newegg has that someplace else on the site, so if you're searching for a little quicker write speed, you can most likely shell out a little bit much more funds for it. I, like an idiot, ordered the drive on a Thursday. Newegg promises a 3-day delivery, but UPS is closed on Sundays and I have classes/work on Mondays, so the wait time turned into five days. There is certainly nothing at all else incorrect and this was purely my fault but I advise you not to do the identical.

Installs very easily with vista just plug and play. Runs silent no heat. Transfer speed is very good adequate to play films directly from the drive. The drive un-mounts and then re-mounts about every 15-20 mins when idle. If you are writing to the drive or reading it wont do it just at an idle. Not a large deal but it genuinely must not do this. I played about with the power settings to try and make the dilemma go away but it isnt a large adequate deal for me to actually be concerned about it. Other than this one challenge the drive appears superb

Straightforward setup, runs quiet, and operates good with the USB three. kit. This factor gets hot. It's sitting on my desk in an open region and the space temperature is on the cool side, but it's nevertheless coasting around 54-55c. I spoke with help and was told that was acceptable as the redline is 60c. I'm not certain I like the concept of becoming within a few degrees of "redline" when the drive is idle. This is only my second day owning the drive, so issues might modify. All round I'm happy with it, I just worry about its lifespan with as hot as it is at the moment operating.

Massive capacity, cheap, sleek. The drive will not spin down right after being disconnected. The only way to shut it down is by unplugging it, which is a hassle. So excess noise, heat and energy consumption.

Drive is practically silent, has great capacity for a fantastic cost and the interface alternatives are good. I have USB three. on my Pc and FireWire 800 on my MBP so it is truly nice to be capable to have each. It also contains NTFS drivers for mac which is a actually good touch. sits a tiny loose on the dock, but it's not too negative. adapter rates aren't also terrible.

Fantastic price tag for the storage size, comes with the USB two. base adapter. The licensed computer software that comes with this drive can backup D drive (or any other) rather than just C drive. It will unmount and remount itself on a rare occasion if the drive is picked up or otherwise moved around whilst it's on. Appears sensitive to motion. The USB 3. adapter for this drive is also a bit pricey, but I knew that ahead of creating the acquire.

The drive has a pretty low price and several connection possibilities. Bundled with NTFS drivers for the Mac. Numerous computer software tools for Windows. A backup resolution is included. The connection options need paying for a proprietary part. The drive does not perform adequately with the Mac OS. If you set up the Mac drivers and tool as advised by the manufacturer, it nevertheless sleeps only on its schedule and not when the operating program tells it to sleep. This means that in order for it to appropriately sleep and for it to let the laptop or computer to sleep (so the laptop or computer does not detect the drive disconnecting) you need to unplug it from the energy.

Tons of storage. Low cost. No on/off switch. Set it up for my mac, and have had no technical troubles with it due to the fact. Have it plugged into a USB hub and works fine. Only problem is that it has no on/off switch, so when you're not making use of it, you have to unplug it to turn it off.

2TB Just got it two days ago from Greatest Purchase. I loaded 250gbs of data onto it. The next day. I commence to hear clicking and random disconnecting starts to occur. I was trying to keep optimistic about the item but on day two of ownership the item fails totally. I just get clicking and what sounds like its connecting to my Vista Pc but it does not show up in My Computer system. I would guidance all to stay away from this item. The customer service from Seagate is not useful at all. I should have gone with WD like I was originally organizing. I hate myself for acquiring this external hdd. So a lot information down the drain.

Rapidly 7,200 rpm (makes no distinction in USB2 but nice to know you have a rapidly drive if you strip it out). Flexible base is very good for some but not that practical since the other base modules are not readily available. It comes with a USB two and there is suppose to be USB3, Firewire, and e-sata alternatives. These will almost certainly be much more than just replacing the enclosure anyway.Quiet and cool running. No transformer brick. Just a smaller cigarette box size adapter. Comes with some backup software that is nothing additional than adware. The other utilities are extremely standard. Just come across some no cost Smart utils on the web to monitor it. Power cable is too thin for an external device that is meant to be moved about back and forth. It will surely break just before 2 years if you do anything much more than just leaving it hooked up to your method.Base has no lock. It's attached by friction. No rubber feet for horizontal placement. It ships completed covered in plastic stickers. Some not so bright users might be operating the drive with them on and causing over heating. Copies files among 20 Mbytes/sec to 29 Mbytes/sec based on the host technique. The minimum shut off wait time is 15 minutes.Evaluation completed following filling the drive with 1.4 TB of information and testing with a variety of benchmarks and pressure test utilities in Windows and Linux.Functions with Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Windows XP. Comes preformmated with NTFS.

The drive is working so far without situation. Within a day I've transferred 750GB to it, transferred 200GB off (to test), and even repartitioned the drive with no issues. Very first of all, with Win7 and Seagate FreeAgent and Segate GoFlex attached at the very same time, there is a hardware collision, Seagate didn't change the drive ID to anything new for some cause. If you knowledge this, go into Disk Management (Administrative Tools) and ideal click -> Online. It works.Second issue, the computer software for advanced customers like myself is absolute junk. The licensed non-trail version only backs up drive C. I have my OS on C and software on D. If you want to use this computer software to do this, far better cough up $$$ for the pro version. They also offer you 3 other trail applications defaulted enabled on install. They are trial, if you like them, superior cough up more $$$. I just decided to back out of the setup and delete the files. No fantastic for me. This drive is much smaller than the FreeAgent 500GB drive, and lighter also. The drive is quiet but makes a weird annoying hummmmmmm when on my wood, flat desk. I necessary to location anything soft underneath it to get rid of the humming noise. Not a problem though, the challenging drive in the end is what matters most, and that, so far, is working wonderful. I knocked an egg off for the tease-software-trialware.

The absolute very best price I can uncover for a 2TB external HDD. 2yr warranty, a lot of external drives are only 1yr. Pretty stylish. This is my second 2TB Seagate GoFlex, the original is nonetheless running fine...just bought this a single to backup the first one particular :-) Simply because USB three. is backwards compatible with two., I come across it to be a bit of a rip-off that they even sell this model with the 2. choice. But, I guess it lowers the value.I dislike that the activity light just slowly dims/brightness to show activity. I would prefer a distinctive flashing like most external drives. For some reason my Computer would not recognize this drive at initially. Not positive why, but I did have to go into disk management and pick "online" for this drive. It was offline and would not mount.Drive goes to sleep at the set time but is consistently woken up and remounted numerous instances. This is a difficulty that has been reported across numerous forums. I just use the Seagate computer software to disable sleep. Seagate has had it's ups/downs just like any other HDD manufacturer. HDD's are mechanical and WILL fail at some point. This is not a portable drive and need to not be treated as such. Don't knock it over when it's running and you'll probably have fairly great luck with it. To this date I've only had 1 external HDD failure that was not brought on by a drive tipping over even though on.

Excellent storage capacity, fair price tag, good case. Information transfers are slower than other USB drives on same systems. I bought 2 new drives, and own two much more from final summer (it is March 31 2011 now). The older devices, like my Western Digital and Maxtor external USB drives, typical from 14 to 24 MB/sec transfers, based on the data and the host. Both these new drives average from 4 to 6 MB/sec on identical platforms. I tried a far better good quality USB cable (the new drives consist of the thinnest USB cables I've ever observed), but it appears to make no difference. The average consumer would be far better off without the included Seagate computer software, which attempts to install itself upon 1st connection.Every package has 4 various serial numbers! I've tried to get Seagate to clarify which is the appropriate number to use for product registration, but so far it has only turn out to be a lot more confusing. This is extremely annoying! At the Seagate product registration page, the images of "How to find the serial quantity" are incorrect.Their KB update is incorrect too. NOTE that the KB update mentioned above is offered at:http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocIdI'm incredibly disappointed at the slow throughput of data on these new devices, as well as the high overhead of the formatting. It is called a ŖTB" device 񢉐 gigabytes), but in reality is only 1.8TB of usable space. Why does their formatting waste 200 GIGABYTES OF DRIVE SPACE?!?Based on the Seagate forum pages, these devices are not incredibly reliable. I guess I am lucky; no failures yet. But there are SO a lot of posts on the support forum pages indicating a high rate of drive failures and/or data loss.In my opinion, Seagate is truly slipping.

Drive functions really nicely! The LEDs aren't insanely vivid (in truth, they're the excellent intensity). My drive didn't really get that warm even following constantly loading data onto it for three hours, your mileage could differ although. What I thought was cool is how the drive turns off automatically when the USB cable has been disconnected from the personal computer for about ten seconds or so. The drive is also quiet (see other thoughts for much more info). It has the potential to upgrade to different interfaces, which is why I purchased it. I very recommend this drive! None. I haven't applied the software so I can't comment on that. Transfer speeds are what you'd anticipate for USB two. (when it's on that interface). When my laptop was in low-energy mode (unplugged), I was acquiring about 20 MB/s in writing information to the drive. Also, as far as I'm conscious, if you want the LED capacity gauge to work, you can't really remove the drive software or format the drive mainly because that'll eliminate the necessary bits that interface with that.About the noise (well, lack thereof), I cannot hear the drive when my area's ceiling fan is on low speed and the drive is 3 feet away from me. You CAN barely hear the drive start up when you 1st plug-in it to the wall, but otherwise it's all good!Thank you FedEx for acquiring it here a day ahead of schedule!
