Purchased this mainly because it was advertised as PL2303 chipset. I wanted this especially for Win 7 x64 OS. BUT IT DOES NOT Perform WITH WINDOWS 7 x64.The Hardware Ids are:USB\VID_067B&PID_2303&REV_0300USB\VID_067B&PID_2303The device shows up as Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port. But I get a code 10. (Device cannot start out) Useless. Don't know what to say. Disappointed. I have to go back to running XP in VMWare just to use this. |

This operates with Windows 7 (x64), Windows XP, and Windows 2000. I use it with a null modem serial cable to connect to older model network switches. The drivers on the CD do not perform. I downloaded drivers from http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID៳ When I downloaded the drivers and installed them, everything worked like a charm. Giving this a 4-star only simply because the drivers on the CD are worthless. |

They do what they're supposed to do. No matters. No concerns whatsoever. Operates fine out of the box with Ubuntu and Debian Linux, without any further configuration. I have however to test them with Windows. |

Operates excellent. Windows 7 64-bit. It is an electrical clone of the Uniden USB-1 and works perfectly. Don't use the drivers on the CD. In spite of what "Tony S" says, they do function. Don't plug it in at all till you download and set up the drivers from Prolific's website. See earlier post by "Scan Man"..."Don't use the drivers on the CD. Use the official drivers from the manufacturer of the chipset, the Prolific PL2303. Get the drivers at http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID៳ . Appear for the file PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v130.zip."Don't plug it in or attempt to set up the drivers on the CD. Get the updated drivers installed initial, then plug it in. If you don't stick to these instructions, then you will end up like "Tony S". Also negative he didn't study. |

Low cost Driver install was a PITA... Product did not come with drivers. Drivers from business web site had been missing a .sys file. Ten minutes of googling, and the problem was resolved. Performs excellent for Fedora 14 and Windows 7. Each recognized the USB serial adapter out of the box with no more drivers necessary. Used to connect to Cisco router and switch.Excellent price also None |

Performs effectively. The thing stated it was plug and play. I had to go out and essentially download the drivers from: http://www.iocrest.com/Driver/Adapter/to get the factor operating on XPSP3That's my only complaint... I would get a different now that I know had been to get the drivers! |

Works in Ubuntu Linux None so far Tested in Ubuntu linux ten.10 and 10.04. Uses the pl2303 chipset. Worked out of the box, requiring no configuration tweaks. |

Operates with Windows 7 on my IBM T-61. Now I can do service work on our PLC's and screens, which require RS-232 communication.Good device for the price. Driver's on CD useless. Just plugging in the device only ended up with endless search for Windows drivers. Thanks to N/A who reviewed before I downloaded the drivers and it worked like a charm. |

Works wonderfully in Ubuntu 10.04.1 Plug an play. Use it to connect to a serial to USB device that controls my DirecTV box employing the directv.pl script. Wasn't no cost |
Works fantastic on Windows 7 Skilled 64-bit. Prolific has drivers for Windows 7 32 & 64-bit, Windows Vista 32ኜ, and Windows XP 32ኜ. None. Don't use the drivers on the CD. Use the official drivers from the manufacturer of the chipset, the Prolific PL2303. Get the drivers at http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID៳ . Look for the file PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v130.zip.Install the drivers first *BEFORE* plugging the unit into your laptop.Immediately after you've run the setup system from Prolific, plug the unit in. Pay interest to which COM port the device is assigned, in the system tray notifications. This is the COM port you'll use with your application to speak to devices plugged into it.I am using this device to plan my Uniden BCT15X analogue radio scanner with FreeScan on Windows 7 64bit.
