Straightforward and speedy installation. Read the manal for appropriate instructions. Newegg.ca shipping took forever and was way also expensive. The manual is there but you have to find it. It's among the cardboard printout that is on each sides of the plastic packaging. The manual in amongst the front and back cardboard printout. If you are attempting to connect an IDE drive to a SATA mobo, make sure your energy provide has a 4 pin Molex connector. If your power supply only has 15 pin SATA connectors, you need to have to acquire this item as properly: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200150CVF&cm_re=sata_to_ide-_-12-200-150CVF-_-Solution

Okay, maybe not gold. Cookies, perhaps? Seriously although, this thing worked Perfectly. I needed to migrate my ailing IDE HDD to a new, bigger SATA HDD, but my antique MB didn't have any SATA connections. Popped this child in, linked it all together, and BOOM! ready to go. Super effortless to use. The actual SATA connectors seem a *bit* loose. Any resistance on the wires can trigger it to kick out a bit, and shed connection (BIOS didn't detect the new HD the 1st time since of this). Just make sure you route your cables nicely, and it's simple as pie. Saved me from having to re-install ALL my stuff. That's worth พ any day!

Functions as it must... after you figure it out. "Set it and forget it." 1) NO directions! Luckily somebody right here already talked about that the drive should be set for Cable Choose "CS". I had it set to Master and was acquiring a bit frustrated.2) Info on the converter for IDE<=>SATA or SATA<=>IDE is useless with out some sort of reference point. You just have to set up the converter with the switch in a single direction, if it performs, wonderful, otherwise just flip the switch the other way and give that a attempt. 3) The data converter is bi-directional but the energy cable is not. The energy cable only has IDE energy connectors. If you've got a power supply with ONLY SATA energy connectors (like my new Dell) then you're out of luck. I had to reduce an IDE power connector off of an old power provide and replaced the lone floppy energy connector that came with the Dell. Then I was in organization. Products 1 and two above are really no major deal, just a minor pain for the duration of setup. Item 3 is a bit a lot more problematic. If they're going to tout the device as bi-directional, then it need to Genuinely be bi-directional.

Does what it says it'll do; easy to install. None so far. I utilized this to set up a new 1TB SATA Seagate drive into my older computer system; when I at some point upgrade, I strategy to use it the other way about for my 500GB PATA drive.

Operates fantastic to add a SATA drive to a technique with an IDE portDoesn't even want directions. Just make certain the switch is flipped the correct way.Overall performance is better than I expectedThe power cord comes with a SATA power connector, an added benefit. Can be challenging to set up, a brief ribbon cable would make points simpler in a tight case. I had to use appropriate-angle SATA connectors on two drives to get enough clearance to plug this into the motherboard. Great way to add a different SATA device if you've employed up all your ports.

Excellent way to connect a SATA drive to an older Pc with no SATA ports. I guess that is why they make them. Not really. Just the strange energy adapter etc. which is incorporated with this device. I have only employed it in one particular direction. IDE to SATA. Space around the IDE ports could be an situation for some people. I discovered that one Pc would boot from a SATA drive. An older one would not. (This is probably a BIOS issue, not connected to this device.)

NewEgg Consumer Service. I got a bad a single. I would recommend KINGWIN ADP-06 SATA to IDE Bridge Board more than this a single. I started a RMA and decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I never ever talked to a client Rep, but wrote a poor assessment. They have responded from the evaluation and created issues proper. five EGGS FOR Client SERVICE - would give them six if achievable. This unique item itself is a gamble at ideal; be forewarned.

Performs some of the time; when it performs, it's good. (I'm running Linux.) No upgrade to your OS is necessary, even if the OS is old adequate that it doesn't assistance SATA. It worked good for occasional low-volume use inside my Intel server, permitting me add a massive 1500 GB SATA drive to the existing SCSI and IDE drives (that don't come any larger than 750GB). But when I actually attempted really serious use of the SATA drive connected to it (e.g. restoring a backup from a different drive onto it), it would operate for minutes to hours and then hang. Entirely. Nothing but a power cycle would unhang it. Couldn't even do a clean shutdown; it appeared to hang in mid-information-transfer to the drive.I thought I might have a undesirable adapter, so I purchased two more. Attempted all three. All three hung the very same way. Attempted replacing the SATA drive. Still hung. Tried replacing the SATA cables. Nonetheless hung. Attempted moving the SATA drive to an external box with external energy. Nonetheless hung. I've changed everything but the motherboard and this device. I conclude that this device is flakey. DO NOT USE IT on a server where you will need it to run flawlessly. Ten organizations must be generating these. Perhaps one of them would make a trustworthy a single. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for acquiring our items. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you connect a SATA II tough drive, please attempt to jumper it to 1.5Gbps transfer speed. Did a wonderful job of salvaging my two current optical drives. My new motherboard, like most newer boards, has only one PATA socket which I utilised to connect my tape drive to so I purchased two of these devices to hook up my optical drives to two of the SATA connection points. The BIOS had no difficulty recognizing either drive and they're each up and operating excellent. None. These devices come with anything you'll require to connect your challenging drive or optical drives like the SATA cables.A couple of rapid installation hints. When converting your IDE devices to SATA, set the jumper on your drive to "Master" and make certain the slide switch on the device is in the position toward the power adapter plug.

Cost is cool. Has a straightforward setup. Instructions and labeling on the device can be confusing. For that cause I gave it a 4 star rating. I had an old ide drive I required to pull data from with out removing 1 of the only 2 ide drives I can hook up. Tried it with the switch both approaches and finally place a brief across the "master" setting on the ide drive and it worked for me. The DVD/CD SATA drive I also have did not have the alternative to adjust from master to slave. I guess the missing jumper on the old drive confused the method. So far it's working with no issues.By the way my switch is in the position closes to the power plug on the converter and it (the converter) is plugged into the back of the ide drive with a SATA cable going to the motherboard.

Plastic cover is flimsy.I prefer with out it.Weird energy connection as an alternative of working with a typical molex. I purchased this for the purpose of cracking my AppleTV and upgrading it from 44pin IDE to SATA. (Used a 44 to 40pin adapter)Extended story brief, it functions exactly the way I wanted it to perform.I've read from other evaluations, there is no manual included for the reference point but apparently, this a single I received does.

Couldn't get it to perform It fit where it was supposed to (both in the machine and then in the trash) RMA cost was close to the expense of the device (shipping/restocking?) Could not get it to function. Followed the directions on the integrated sheet and the comments in the reviews. The energy light on the adapter device on. Also powered the IDE device separately as shown in the diagram. Tried it with two unique mother boards and two various IDE devices (a IDE difficult drive and an IDE optical drive). Tried all the configurations for master, slave, and cable select on the IDE devices. Attempted switch in both positions -- can't consider of a different combination.

Actually plug-and-play. No software or firmware mods necessary. I haven't benchmarked it extensively, but my impression is that working with this converter, my SATA drives run drastically more rapidly general than their IDE counterparts. The circuitry is protected by a plastic housing which fits snugly and securely on the IDE socket. The unit is BIDIRECTIONAL as promised - just slide the small switch to change from mobo-mounted IDE>SATA to device-mounted SATA>IDE converter. Comes with red std SATA signal cable, black modest-diameter round power cable for the converter (Molex 4-pin interface), you need to present power for the drive. The one I have keeps the (main) case's IDE busy indicator lit continually, even if there is no associated disk activity.

It does what it says. No difficulty. It's type of bulky. It's tricky to wire in the smaller case. The energy wire to the adapter is somewhat unstable. I'm afraid it may come out. I wish the energy connector is a lot more like cpu/fan connectors so that I'm certain it does not come off.

Inexpensive, works wonderful on my Ubuntu technique. Some individuals might have clearance issues considering that it plugs straight into the IDE port and sticks up an inch or more. Windows did not recognize it. Possibly it can operate with Windows, but I didn't fight it given that I bought it for my Linux box. I am utilizing it with a Duron program.

Functions, affordable, excellent for those of us with a ton of IDE devices and only 1 IDE connection on the motherboard. Thanks to lack of directions, it was rather frustrating acquiring the two I bought to perform. 1 drive wouldn't work, so I fiddled with it and fiddled with it, and finally got it working. There's TWO diverse diagrams that tell you how the switch ought to be set, and they each read differently (one says left, the other proper from the prime). Also, had I not read here that "CS" should be chosen for the drives I'd have under no circumstances recognized that. A fantastic deal and an perfect adapter for us IDE connector depraved souls.

Cheap. It uses 1 IDE port for connecting a single SATA drive. It seems that here are similar products out there that can connect two SATA devices. This unit did not operate with my 100MHz Pentium Classic machine (Dell xps-p100c).
