Cons: - Bus controller PCB is a bit crooked

Pros: + Compact+ Bundled with USB and ESATA cables+ Looks stylish
Comment:
Not a bad little unit for the price. I have one issue with this, and it's that the sata/sata power connector PCB is a bit crooked. The hard drive still fits fine though. Also, just an interesting observation: I'm using a 5400 RPM Seagate 500GB hard drive with this, and I found that plugging in one of the two USB plugs is enough to power this drive.

Cons: DOESN'T WORK - Unreliable usb connection, esata didn't work at all....

Pros: Lightweight, aluminium.

I'd give this ONE star, but NCIX looks at those reviews before posting, and I need an order number to post (which I don't have as it was a gift).Got this as an xmas present to replace my current plastic enclosure. The case itself is nice, and the aluminium casing helps keep the drive cool. That's the only good thing I can say though - the USB connection on it is VERY unreliable - it seems to have cheap connectors as the cable has to be in a very certain position for it to work, and it's a 50/50 shot at it staying connected to the computer for more than 10 minutes. Tried different connectors and computers, and it's the same always. The Esata connector didn't work at all. I'd go with another brand, as I know I'm not the only one with these problems.

Cons: - poor hw quality - connector not straight- need both usb plugged for usb2.0 connection- need both usb plus eSATA plugged in for eSATA connection- USB got mounted then unmounted for no reason

Pros: - none- zip- zero- nada
Comment:
I will not recommand this product to anyone, the MUKii product seems to be a poorly built product with very low QA done on it. It's very poor quality in both Hardware and software(driver).Environment: Win7Home-64 laptop and Win7Ultimate-64 desktopDisk installed in MUKii: Kingston SSDNOW V Series 64GB- I was not able to initialize the HD in USB mode. - I was successful in eSATA mode.- Both OS see the disk mounted then disappeared 90% of the time. 10% seems stable.I will not trust this device for any serious data, especially in USB mode. It maybe okay for photo and music but I will keep it in eSATA mode.

esata read/write speed around 85 MB/s. A bit pricey at regular price, but a bargain at the sale price of $15 (unfortunately limited to 1 per customer). Includes M One Tuning system software for turbo USB and other stuff, but I did not try the software.

Cons: -Price-No USB to Power cable included (see Summary)

Pros: -Compact size-eSata
Comment:
I really like the appearance of this drive. It's compact, all metal and easy to put the drive in. I bought it only for it's eSata capability, which works fairly well, although there it adds a delay of quite a few seconds when I boot-up my PC with this connected (a reboot is fast however). I think the price is a bit high, but I pricematched to ~13$ which is more acceptable. The drive has 3 plugs on the back: eSata (eSata cable included in the package), USB (usb cable with 2 dongles included) and DC-in (no cable included!).To use as a eSata drive, you need to plug the eSata cable and the USB one (one dongle attached is sufficient) and I wonder if this is causing the delay at boot-up because maybe the BIOS sees it as a USB drive before it switches to eSata mode. I might not have that problem if a USB to DC cable was included (in that case there would be no chance of being being detected as USB).

Pros: inexpensivecomes with cables
Comment:
Price matched this with another store and got the enclosure for under $14 with taxes. It works well and my extra seagate 7200rpm drive works with only one USB cable. Nice that it comes with an esata cable as well.

Cons: -Fit/finish could use some improvement-HDD may move in enclosure due to foam/backstop not being quite large enough on the closed end of the enclosure-No protective case/sleeve included

Pros: -Aluminium main body (end caps are plastic/resin)-Supports SATA-II (SATA 300) through the eSATA port unlike many older eSATA enclosures-Included eSATA cable-Fairly nice design-Cheap when on sale :)-Free included "Zipo" 3.5" HDD storage case (probably a limited time/intro offer)
Comment:
Purchased one of these Mukiis for an SSD which will be used for car duty. Already have a regular HDD in the car in another enclosure but decided to move to an SSD for better shock protection and access times. The Mukii "TransImp" is fairly nicely made and very simple to assemble. I have no idea what "TransImp" is supposed to mean though--I was thinking maybe something was lost in translation there but I dunno? On assembly I would note that the screws merely thread themselves into "rails" in the enclosure, so it's a good idea to thread and remove the screws prior to actually putting on the HDD/endcap, that way you don't get the screws going in on an angle or stripping the rails. Installation of your drive is otherwise very straightforward and is pretty much 3 steps--drive onto endcap, slide in drive, screw in the screws! There is a blue LED that indicates power/access and it's not offensively bright which is a good thing IMO.There's lots to like about the enclosure. First off it supports SATA-II/SATA300/SATA 2.0/SATA 3Gbps (whatever you want to call it) *properly* which is good given I have other eSATA enclosures that have issues with SATA300 drives having to either use a FORCE150 setting on the drive or doing some other workaround or the drive just ends up in SATA150 mode on it's own when in the enclosure. The current enclosure in my car (an Acomdata Executive) has this exact problem (which I mentioned in the Q&A section of that product page a long time ago). Vantec Nexstar3s also seem to have this problem--they don't support SATA300 properly or consistently across drive brands. On the TransImp, I can't make out what SATA bridge is on there (the chip is very small and on the circuit board almost underneath the endcap) but it defintely works without a hitch with SATA300 drives in SATA300 mode. After using eSATA pretty much since its inception and seeing this messed up in so many enclosures, it's nice to see a company getting this right. Connecting up the SSD drive to an Intel mobo controller both normally and through the enclosure's eSATA connection showed pretty much identical Crystal Disk Mark numbers. In case anyone is wondering the way it works in eSATA mode is just like most other 2.5" eSATA/USB enclosures I've encountered. When there is a cable plugged into the eSATA port, the USB function is automatically disabled and then the USB port is only used to power the drive. As a note in USB mode a typical ceiling of 30-40MB/s is seen. Mukii includes some additional software for USB mode, which includes something to spin down the drive (usually USB connected drives are incapable of this) as well as some other features. One I noticed was some "Turbo" feature but I didn't bother to install any of the software to try it. Not sure what kind of difference it could possibly make in USB transfer speeds though? In the box is a USB cable (dualhead in case you have a drive that requires more than 500mA), eSATA cable (something often not incl. with older eSATA enclosures), the enclosure itself, and two assembly screws. Also included as a sepaate bonus from NCIX was the Zipo (looks like a Zippo lighter, but they probably couldn't use the name Zippo) 3.5" HDD carry case, which is quite nice. I think the case has a $10 reg price (probably less on sale) so pretty nice inclusion esp. considering the enclosure was only $14. One thing notably absent from the package was any type of sleeve or case for the enclosure itself, which means you may end up getting it scratched up while transporting it in various bags, pockets, etc. The finish doesn't see that durable (see below) so it would have been nice to have something to protect it. But for $14, you can't really get too upset about this.Speaking of scratches, mine was a little scuffed and the "SU" logo partially scratched off, right out of the box. Not a big deal but does point to the low cost of the enclosure. The materials used are good but the fit and finish could use some improvement. As another example, the end cap doesn't really seem to "lock-in" or be precisely lined up with the body like it is on other enclosures. It just kinda screws together and that's that. Finally there's a foam/rubber end stop in the case I believe but it seems it's not thick enough. My SSD will clunk against the inside ligthly if I shake the enclosure around a bit. Of course this isn't really an issue with an SSD but when I fit an HDD in there as well to test, it seems the SSD casing was actually ever so slightly longer and the HDD actually moved more readily! So you may want to stuff some add'l padding in there or something if you encounter this--the enclosure should have a little better drive support. In conclusion it's a great little enclosure that has a lot of positives and only a few minor cons. At the [sale] price, you really can't go wrong and if you get the bonus Zipo it's even better
