In my case I just plugged it in and booted up the computer. I run XP on a 7 year old Dell which saw it immediately, installed it, and I was good to go! My Dell only had old USB 1.0's so for $9 to add four 2.0 slots was a no brainer! |

This a piece of crap if you are running Windows XP 64. Called the mfr to find out that they have no firmware or other fixes. Looked for fixes online with no results. It installs just fine but will lock up the computer at boot after a while. Seems it messes with the registry hive causing nothing but problems. Mfr offered absolutely no help what so ever. In fact Mfr knows they have a problem with product and almost laugh in your face when asked for a solution basically you are stuck with a piece of JUNK. |

Made this purchase at the beginning of the new year. Had this card up and running within minutes. Put it into an older p4 Desktop without trouble. Recognized immediately after re-boot. Ease of installation was nice and helped eliminate any of the headaches that might have been encountered with lower-end product. Great pick for any of those do it yourself types. |

Worked good for two months than the fist port stop working which is tied to the internal port so the front hub I ordered this for no longer works. Can't return it to the manufacture because I didn't register it within thirty days of purchase. REGISTER,REGISTER. |

At first when I installed the card it did not work, but I am not blaming the card, the computer I am using is an 11 years old 1998 Gateway. So more then likely the pci slot was faulty. I Switched the slot and it worked perfectly. Having 4 usb 2.0 slots is a great improvement from 2 usb 1.0 slots. |

Be aware this package does NOT include drivers for which the documentation directs you to the product's website for a download...but surprise, there're no downloads at that site. I think the word startign with 'L' comes to mind for the Ultra folks. |

I just bought 2 of these cards, for 2 older machines at my house. Both machines are running XP Home. The cards installed w/o a hitch. XP already had working drivers. One one machine, I have an external USB hard drive attached to the card. Transfer rates have gone way up. Moving pictures and other files takes a fraction of the time that it used to. The more exciting improvement is on the other computer though. I have an external USB wireless network adapter attached to it. My internet speeds have increased dramatically as well. Sites that typically lagged for me are springing open quickly. Certain online apps, like Mafia Wars on Facebook generally lagged considerably when I played. That's been lessened dramatically. Work email used to take a while to access at home, and it now loads in about 2 seconds. I use Logmein to access computers for friends, and its connecting almost as quickly as I can click. USB 2.0 is such a huge improvement over 1.1. ;) |

It takes longer to take it out of the box than it does to have it up and running. XP recognized it immediately, loaded drivers, and I was off and running at cool USB 2.0 speed on a USB 1.0 mobo. Shifted my mouse, keyboard and 2.0 hub to the ports on the Ultra card, now Life Is Good. Price can't be beat, store service can't be beat, performance can't be beat. If you need to put USB 2.0 on an older motherboard, GET THIS CARD. |
