I have never used one of these devices before. While my linux system, Ubuntu 9.10, immediately recognized and installed it, there are some problems. I use it to control a amateur radio transceiver, which it does well. I can however hear noise it generates on another receiver, at about 144.200Mhz. A disappointment, since I use that frequency. I am trying to quiet it using toroids with limited success. This same noise is present using Windows Vista. This may or may not be the reason for slow data transfers using this adapter which I have experienced as well. Connecting to a 'real' serial port is better I have found. This device seems ok in a pinch. |

Needed an adapter for a recent network install project. Installed with no problems and the Switches and Routers were successfully configured. Considering the removal of the serial port from most Laptops for the past few years it is surprising that they do not yet have a non-serial option for direct interface. Until they do this will be an invaluable addition to my toolkit. |

Advertised as Mac compatible. I am a geocacher using a Garmin with a serial interface to download waypoints. I have switched from a PC to a Mac. The Mac only has USB ports. The driver CD-ROM did not contain any Mac drivers, neither does the manufacturer's website. The WinXP drivers don't work either. I have kept the unit because I found a Mac application that it works with. |

I have a laptop I use for school and the only thing it lacks is a serial port so it can be used for out of band management of routers and switches . This solves that short coming and can be used with all Monkeysoft Operating Systems from 98 to 7. She guessed I paid far more than I did for this item as well. It installed the first try with no hassle and worked perfectly. Next purchase I make I am picking up a spare in case this one gets lost or stolen. |

I used this adapter to hook up by Belkin UPS to my new Windows 7 machine with no serial ports. Once the driver was installed from the included mini-CD, it worked great. |

Purchased this USB RS232 adapter as my new laptop has no rs232 ports. I used it to connect to my ham radio tranceiver and it works perfectly. I would highly recommend it. |

I used this for my cisco devices on Windows 7 64 bit and had no problems. Downloaded the drivers from here and installed and plug in device real easy. Shipping was quick too. Will get another to keep in car. |

Worked as expected right out of the box. Was able to plug in and use it with my Yamaha MU-80 which requires an RS-32 port. The USB port of my recently aquired notebook type PC, worked like a charm the first time out. |
