I needed a new SATA drive for my older system to run Linux on and all I needed was this little gem and a power adapter for the drive. I read some of the other peoples reviews, but it is obvious they don't know what they are doing when it comes to hardware. Anyway it works great and I only wish there were more of them.

Bought one a it worked great the first time I used it. But, the second time I used it my computer would not start up. We'll see what happens the next time or maybe I'll go it by another route.

I'm using this on a Linux box running 'Linux Mint 8 KDE CE' which is based on Ubuntu. It works great as a secondary drive, but does not support booting from the device. Nor does it support DVD writers. So... If you need this device to have a second Linux distro, or other OS, forget it. It wont boot from it.

I still needed a 4pin molex to 15pin SATA power adapter cable to install a 1TB SATA drive in my ancient IDE only computer. Once I purchased the extra power adapter cable locally, it worked normally. I could've saved time, money, and aggravation with a complete kit. Moral of the story, research the heck out of the topic before you buy, but in the end you still pays your money and takes your chances.

The info, pictures and installation video are incomplete andor out of date. The instructions with the delivered product have a crucial extra step. I still needed a 4pin molex to 15pin SATA power adapter cable to install a 1TB SATA drive in my ancient IDE only computer. Once I purchased the extra power adapter cable locally, it worked like a charm. I could've saved time, money, gas and aggravation with complete and accurate info on website and they would have sold another item - the power adapter. Moral of the story, research the heck out of the topic before you buy, but in the end you still pays your money and takes your chances.

Worked great. However, in description and instructions, it's left out that you need your own hard drive power cord to connect power to HD.

I ordered this thinking it would solve my problems but it was not compatible to windows or my motherboard either. Good thing I caught it on sale so my investment was minimal.

Was hoping to be able to use an IDE hard drive on my new computer which has SATA ports. Followed all of the steps but the hard drive, which had worked through and IDE connection, was not found. Un-hooked the adapter and the hard drive again worked through IDE. Also tried other SATA hard drives, thinking that my ports were bad, and they worked fine. They had great, fast shipping and allowed me to return the product with no problems.

This product is user friendly. Great performance when matched with 1 TB SATA and below.

The price is too low to warrant returning. However, I originally purchased it to run a 2TB HDD but it will not handle above 1.5 TB. Then I upgraded to a new Asus mobo and it wouldn't work in reverse to handle my old IDE hard drive on a SATA port. The people at Ultra are very nice but I haven't had time to check on this latest failure to function as expected.

I had a SATA HDD that I wanted to install as a storage drive in an older IDE computer. Worked great but be careful with the cable connections and follow the included instructions. You may have to change jumpers on other IDE devices as well. I accidently bent the power supply connector but it still functions woo hoo!

This seems like a great idea but TigerDirect should more clearly identify comparability issues. Bought this with a 1TB Hitachi drive and after calls to Ultra and 2 returns finally it was determined that the drive and the interface are incompatible. One is version 1 the other is version 3. Tiger should identify such incompatibilities when ordering these items together. Ultra support was good. Tiger was good with the returns.

I upgraded my old 150GB IDE Hard drive to Sata. Easy install, simply connect the provided Sata cable and reconnect your 4-pin Molex and you're ready to go. I backed up my hard drive just to be safe, but nothing happened, it worked right away with no problem.

Bought this product to save one of my CD drives. Arrived in 3 days ( Gotta love tigers shipping ) with no damage. The product comes with little to no instructions but is pretty self explanatory. Unfortunately after installing my system would not recognize my CD drive. I've read several reviews about this happening afterwords. Although i did try testing on a hard drive and it worked perfectly.. I suggest looking elsewhere if your converting an IDE CD-ROM Drive
