Looks fantastic, easy to roll up and store away. Cable could be a small thicker maybe, its type of flimsy. But that may well take away from becoming able to carry around in a case. Somebody mentioned they got this for their Mac notebook to use on their HP 1100A printer. I'd appreciate to hear how they did it, simply because there are no drivers at HP for a MAC to use this printer, not confident how that was done.

Functions from my HP LJ4000 as it is supposed to. Has been operating but I do find some points not really proper. I have a scanner and if I tell the computer system to print several copies from the scanner it does only a single. Will continue to work on the many page print from scanner to see if it is the application or the cord. Other than that it operates as intended.

It need to function for most printers. It doesn't give you a parallel port, it turns your parallel port into usb port. Ought to perform for most individuals, but not for my purposes. I was attempting to use an old crypto important that plugged into a parallel port. The old(think 1991) software appears for the printer port to see if the crypto key is there so the software can function. Simply because the personal computer doesn't recognize this cable as a parallel port, but as a usb cable, the computer software couldn't locate the crypto essential, and the computer software wouldn't perform.Waste of money for me.

makes it possible for me to use my old HP-1100 from my laptop only operates if you stick to the instructions precisely. See below Sabrent's internet site has directions on how to install it. Stupid me got frustrated at first. I initially plugged the printer into the cable and then the cable into the computer system. What I Must have completed was plug the cable into the computer system, let the windows install the cable, THEN plug the printer into the cable. If you do it the other way, windows gets confused.

Plugged in the cable, plugged the printer into the cable, then went to "Add Printer" to set up my old printer. None, except for the situation I had previously with a parallel port crypto essential(see my earlier critique) I bought this for a customer who wanted to use his super old HP Laserjet 4L(late 1980's I consider) with his new vista 64 system I was constructing for him. Every thing worked flawlessly in Vista 64. 1 note: This cable will not make your old parallel port printer plug and play. You nevertheless will need to go to the "Add Printer" wizard and set up it that way, then go to the printer properties' "Ports" tab and point the printer to the usb-parallel bridge.

Ok, this heap is excellent for a single factor: Connecting your old Parallel Printer to a new Pc. The moment you plug it in, it detects all the hardware it wants for Printing. But absolutely nothing else! Regrettably, this does not work for Parallel-Port HASPS, In particular Aladdin. Simply does nto detect the Hasp. I am nevertheless looking for a way to plug my HASP into a USB or other port. It appears to be a futile search so far, thankfully it only expense me about 16 bucks so far. There has GOT to be a compleat USB to Parallel Port converter, that performs all the functions of a Parallel Port.

I didn't find any critiques from other people as to no matter if this cable performs with Linux (Ubuntu). Nonetheless, considering that I've identified that Ubuntu recognizes most almost everything I've employed I figured the smaller value was worth placing out to find out. The cable arrived in just two or three days. Following plugging it up, there was an instant connection! No problems whatsoever. :) None I identified it odd that the cable does not connect directly to the printer but to the other printer cable. A small much more cable to wrap up behind the desk is nothing as lengthy as it operates.

Operates great for HP LaserJet 6P and Windows 7 ࿠ bit). Just comply with the directions of the user on 4ǜ񳏊. Also, use the Printers Windows Update to get the HP driver. Excellent value. Arrived swiftly--ahead of schedule. Exceeded my expectations. none Don't bother installing the driver that comes with the cable. It doesn't have a Windows 7 driver on the CD anway.

Incredibly reasonably priced, and it functions Its operating, so none. Slightly difficult to get it working, but that was more my in-expertise with my new and quite very first MAC. I've been windows up to now. I preserve getting surprised how simple everything is, and more than considering solutions. I've located if I just let the personal computer do the function it usually has the solution. As in this case, I searched high and low for a specific driver for my HP Laserjet 4L, then figured out that if I just chosen "add a printer" on the print screen, and selected the generic driver. Yay! Functions completely!

Worked out of the box, with no more drivers, XP auto-detected the attached printer (Laserjet 1100) without any problems. female adapter side is not fully female (LOL)... would be greater if it could accept the screws from a male plug. As it is, I have tied the adapter to the original parallel cable to avert them from accidentally separating. Don't throw away your old printer but just since your new laptop doesn't have a parallel port. This unique model is great for these of us with non-regular cables (such as the HP Laserjet 1100).

Seems to connect to printers OK.Win XP Pro installs it automatically, no disc required Won't speak to an EPROM programmer that had a parallel port connection. Only shows up in DeviceManager as 'USB Printing support'. There appears to be no way this can be mapped to appear like LPT2 (would appear that it is USB001). User manual is really poorly translated from Chinese. Would be fantastic if a utility was integrated to make this seem as a LPT port for legacy software.

Not blue at all -- mine was black. I wasn't looking for a cool blue cable. None, if you want to use it for a printer. Windows 7 House, plugged it in, detected HP5 Laserjet, downloaded drivers, added to printer list. If you want a USB to parallel port printer cable, this is amazing. If you want to add an LPT port to your laptop for a device other than a printer, this apparently doesn't function at all.

As soon as I figured out how to set up the cable it functions fine. To make it simpler for an individual else to install, this is what you have to do. Initial, I have windows vista property premium edition. You should have your system running, then plug the cable into your USB port and it ought to recognize that you have a USB device driver installed. Then next step is with your printer on plug the other end of the cable into your printer's cable. Then click on control panel, click on printers and the click on add printers. The technique will ask you about what port to use. Do not use LTP1, instead click the down arrow and select virtual printer port for usb port. click subsequent and pick your printer. You could want to run a test page then click final and you should be up and running. Hope this assist for the newbie employing Vista. I have an AB box to run to printers and it performs great. 1 last point don't use the enclosed cd rom with vista or xp. It is for older OS. Hope this assist and great Luck. No documentation on how to set up. I practically returned this item considering it was dead. Glad I did more research.

It saved me from obtaining to transfer files back and forth amongst my new personal computer that does not have a paralell printer port with an older one particular that does so I could print with my old HP Laserjet 4000 printer which performs fantastic still. The price tag was super reasonable also. NO Instructions! I read by means of the critiques here and utilized them to aid get it to function. As for installation concerns to assist others; on my computer I had to choose Virtual Printer port two for USB not 1 as it would not function when I chosen 1 but as quickly as I switched to two it came to life and printed the test page perfectly. I hope this aids an individual out there.

Looks quite? Wanted to use this with a 25-pin dongle for a software package requiring it, working with a USB port as an alternative of LPT1 port. Did absolutely nothing. I guess the correct issue is a parallel port card for any pc not getting the 25-pin LPT1 port connector.

Functions with linux None Use it with the old HP LaserJet 2100. Udev will find it and produce the device /dev/usb/lp0 (and a symlink /dev/usblp0). Regardless of this name, when configuring CUPS a single has to specify the address as parallel:/dev/usblp0.
