I bought one of these, when it worked at first the quality was really good, and the setup was painless, so I bought another one to run two inputs into vMix Video Mixer. Then one day....no video...just a pretty light on the unit. The other one did the same thing few days later.I RMA'd the one that was still under NCIX 30 day return, the other one I'm still waiting to hear back from Diamond from an email I sent a week ago. I heard their support is non-existent, guess I'm gonna find out. |

Cons: Had problems with it locking up while recording streams as well as the audio just turning into a screeching noise.

This product requires some work and at this point I would not recommend it. Even when not recording I would sometimes experience the problems described in the cons. I also tried the product on 2 different computers to be sure it wasn't the computer causing the issues. |

I had problems installing this on my XP SP3 machine.Googling this confirms that that XP SP3 is a problem for the drivers. I spent quite a bid of time on trying to make this thing work. It would never install properly. |

For entry level stuff this device works alright. Using a variety of other software will get you what you need, but the included software is garbage. It comes with Ulead video editing software which was designed for Windows XP and does not capture without interruption.The included capture software that is Diamond proprietary software is very limited. It works and takes some getting used to, but the codecs used are pretty weak and it doesn't explain resolutions of each setting, etc. To Diamond's credit, the included instruction booklet can be helpful for novices.This does the job for a cheap price, but I would recommend spending a bit more cash to get something that works a lot better and has better software. |

I purchased this product for Christmas thinking that I would be able to convert our family VHS movie collection to DVD. I installed the software (on my Vista Home Premium computer), and then took the output of our VHS player and tried to record the first VHS. At first, the recording was going well and I thought that this is going to be great. Then after I recorded the first VHS, I went to check on the computer how it recorded, and found that the first 15 minutes were not recorded. I downloaded the latest drivers and tried it again and again, each time having a different problem. The recorded video would skip to the point that I just gave up on this computer. I installed it onto another computer running XP, and got the same results. I tried getting technical support from the manufacturer, only to have no return e-mails or phone calls. This is not a high quality product, and I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work. I am very unsatisfied |

For the money this item works as it claims it does. I use this to restore a movie on a VHS that was made some fifty years ago. And now there on DVD's for another fifty. |

using this to record myself playing Final Fantasy on my PS2, the video compression is high for mp4, and individual screen captures were awesome quality |

Thought my original capture device was bad so bought this. Still didn't work. Thought it might be that it was not compatible with my USB. Bought a cheap PCI USB card and now it works but only on thr One Touch software that came with it. Do like the record button on the device which makes it handy when I can't see the screen. |

Wow, this thing works absolutely fine for me. It does exactly what I was looking for, the ability to easily capture quality video from my DVD player. The included Ulead program makes editing and arranging my vid clips a piece of cake. Heck, I couldn't be happier with the performance of this device. |

I bought this to transfer some old VHS tapes into digital format so I could play them on my WDTV. It works great once you get used to the controls. Picture and sound quality is good also. The capture software has limited capabilities but that's what video editing programs are for. Be forewarned that selecting "avi" as your output file type results in raw avi files which are HUGE. Since the unit uses standard RCA inputs, I can imagine plenty of uses for this device for capturing video from camcorders, gaming consoles, etc.Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it. |

Be sure to have the USB plugged in as well as any video/audio source as well when you first install it using the included CD. Used on Vista Basic 32-bit OS.Don't like that I can only use included presets and can't make a custom template for setting bitrates for record modes. |

I have over 30 years electronics experience and these type of stuff are almost part of my daily hobbies and projects, this device is poorly designed and limited to its software, I connected over 10 different video sources like X10 products or other wireless video outputs and only couple of them poorly worked. Its waste of money. |

overall it is a great product for those who want to record off of there ps2 or xbox 360 for example onto there pc with sound and you can use it to transfer the video from camcorder's that use tapes if the camcorder has a av and audio plug. Also check for reviews around the internet for more information on this product. |
