Tough on resources
Pros: Simple, fast, idiot-proof backup Comment:
We have an older PC and this HDD sucks up the resources a little when it is doing its live backup thing. Luckily, you can shut the program off and backup only when you want, freeing up your resources. Other than that little thing, this HDD is great! Simple to use and ready to go out of the box. I'm impressed! |

There's not much to say in favor of this drive that would make it better than any other on the market today. The included usb cable is too short for desktop application. The bundled software is not very useful. You'd better bur Second Copy or another software like that. |

Cons: Software that autoruns when you plug in harddrive, no way that I know of to delete it. I'll be putting a call in to Western Digital soon to see if there is actually a way to remove it. One star off for the software.
Pros: Compact, lightweight, quiet, fair write speeds for a 5400rpm USB drive. Comment:
The cable included in the retail package is a USB Micro, and is a VERY loose fit. It seems the tabs that hold it in don't extend enough. I called Western Digital, they sent me a replacement cable (no cost, free shipping) with proper tab extension. Now cable plugs into hard drive very solidly. |

I bought this over a year ago now and paid over $200 so it is a fair deal but for this price I made a got a 500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive and an enclosure that could do both USB and ESATA for just $20 more. Still I have this drive over a year and no problems so it is a pretty good buy. |

Bought this drive to travel around. This drive is fast enough and doesn't even need power adapter at all. It requires power only through USB not like these 3.5 enclosures. Best thing about it very light! |

Cons: -Drive only hovers around 30MB/s for me and sometimes drops quite abit to 20MB/s-doesn't seem like it could withstand a 2 feet drop.

A longer USB cable might not provide the drive with another power (for "power" has to travel further and faces more resistance).Drive works great and is sleek but also a very bad fingerprint magnet. |
