Benchmarked with HD tune at 75MB/sec transfer speed more than USB3, 25MB/sec over USB2.Smaller than my old 250GB passport. Gets really hot. I suggest keeping it in a well ventalated location when under heavy use, it gets very hot.

this can take something you throw at it. even if you transfer a lot of different factors at the identical time this drive will save, like a pushing soul train until it gets the job carried out. i wish it was a 2 t drive 1t in the palm of my hand. pocket size.

So far so fantastic, very small negatives! Nice and compact, great appear! I needed to purchase a seperate USB powered hub in order to use this with my Roku box. An optional external energy provide would be advantageous. Unit can often get a small warm during heavy use.

Basic test of high quality of a quickly external drive;Touch an external drive with your hand, when the drive is "on" for about an hour. This drive as cold like a cucumber... do the same with a different manufacturer's drive. Be cautious! you could burn your hand. Two of this drives are Velcro-ed onto the back of my laptops monitor for over a year now. I travel around the planet non-cease with my laptop with the drives attached all the time. The drives are operating every time the Pc is on.Most of my VM Ware photos are on these drives and they are access constantly....never ever a difficulty.. By no means had a dilemma. haven't noticed any

-This..... Issue..... is as big as my wallet, which suggests I can lastly carry a TB in my pocket :D I.........I've never carried this substantially memory in my pants ahead of.... kinda makes me feel... massive. :D. The quick cord goes will with the pocket-carry function. None however. I'll give a secondary assessment 1 year from now.

I now have two of these and can carry around 1.7 TB of photographs everywhere now in a modest package. Quiet and they run fairly awesome. USB 3 cable included. Didn't obtain at the Egg, had a credit to use at a regional location. Wish it were a bit quicker, 5400 rpm drive in a USB three package is sort of like a four cylinder Vette. There is also a built in software program formatter integrated with the drive application, which requires up a little portion of the drive. Formatted in Win7 just fine to get total size. Copying a tb of photos to this guy at present receiving 45-48mb/sec. A couple of weeks ago I place a 7200 two.five" rpm drive in a USB 3 situation myself and got 60-65mb/sec. I suspect there is a 5400 RPM drive in these. A lot far better than the same in a USB two case.

- Very little (SLIGHTLY larger than my wallet)- Incredibly rapidly transfer rate- Stylish- A lot of space for all of my files (around 950GB out of the box)- The plan is straightforward to use and I backed up my netbook with ease- LED busy light isn't also vivid and it's little - STIFF cable, but not really a con- Kinda fingerprint prone, but you can grab the perimeter of the drive, exactly where it isn't.- Kinda heats up when beneath heavy use

Bought this for my wife to do data back-up with after the hdd on her desktop died and she lost some files. (I do have another external hdd but she was not using it) This drive is small enough for her to slip into her purse and take to college if she needs to. We now have our important pics & data backed up onto two external drives so I would hope we will not lose anything else.

Cons: The USB cable is very short. It's only about 2 feet long and for someone like me I prefer a longer cable so I can route it behind my desk from my computer. If a short cable is an issue then I don't recommend this drive. The other minor issue is that the drive's glossy finish scratches VERY easily. But this is a cosmetic issue, if you don't mind or expect scratches then it shouldn't be a problem. Just thought I'd point it out.

Pros: It looks great, it's small, light, overall very portable. You can very easily stash this in your bag or even your pocket if you're on the go.
Comment:
Overall it's a nice external drive. The only things I wish they improved on was provide a longer USB cable.

Cons: connector on hd

Pros: usb 3 and size
Comment:
I like the fact that the hd is usb 3. The transfer speeds are great! The main issue I have with it is the cable that is needed to plug it into the usb port has a proprietary connector on the hard drive side. And since the connection at the hd is very poor, it would be nice to be able to buy a replacement cable. I find myself having to firmly push on that connector for my computer to even recognize the drive now. I would have recommended it the first couple weeks I had it, but now there is no way I would buy another one of these. For the money you are paying, it would be nice to have a cable/connectors that last longer than a month or two!

Cons: short USB cable

Pros: Good price for what I paidGood brandUSB 3.0Very small and portable
Comment:
In HD Tune, I averaged about 68MB/s transfer rate which is typical for a 5400rpm 2.5" drive.Just realized this only has a 2-year warranty... thought the passports had a 3-year warranty. Oh well, I've yet to have an issue with a WD drive.Comes with software which is easily removed.Other than the fact that it comes with a short cable (a little over a foot long) I'm happy with it so far.

1TB in a 2.5" enclosure. What more could an IT guy ask for when portable workers need more storage space on the go. It's the best thing for people on the go. Lots of space, light weight, and works without having to plug an external brick.

Cons: PS3Slim owners beware. Drive doesn't work with ps3 slim because the usb ports can't power it. Works fine with PS3Fat

Pros: Light, sleek, large capacity.
Comment:
If i would have known about the ps3slim copatibiity issue i wouldn't have bought it. but it works nice with everything else, mac, pc, ps3fat. just besure to format it to fat32 file system or no ps3 will read it.

Cons: - Bundled software

Pros: - Compact- 2.5, 1 TB+enclosure for $100- USB 3.0/2.0
Comment:
I purchased two of these just over a week ago (March 10th, 2011) and have no complaints about them really. I'm not a big fan of the bundled software, but have found that you don't need to use it or even install it. Windows (XP) mentioned the hardware was not properly installed, but really it doesn't mean anything and the drive works fine. For the pricematch of $100, it was a good purchase.
