I purchased this 1 for my wife, and liked it so substantially, I advised it for my parents. I have an old My Book, and I think I'll swap it out for an additional one of these, they're little, efficient and fast! Various rates for diverse colors of the exact same precise drive is a bit odd, but not adequate to drop an egg.

The drive is quickly. When connected to a USB three. port, Atto Disk Benchmark max speed: 75 MB/s read, 73 MB/s create. When connected to an old-fashioned USB 2. port, Atto reports 34 MB/s read, 27 Mb/s write. Came formatted with NTFS. None so far.

About twice as quickly as my old USB two. "Passport" WD driveTinySmall price tag premium over USB 2. drivesBlue Most likely slower than a USB three. 3.5" drive I bought this drive to replace an old external 375GB "My Passport" WD dirve. HD tune says its about 2x more rapidly and it surely feels that way in actual use.I truly like the form issue but I suspect that 2.5" drives max out with the USB 3. interface and a 3.5" drive would be more rapidly.

The design, weight, size, color are all incredibly good. I seriously like that it has no separate power provide! I also am quite content that it is ready for USB 3. so that when the time comes, I will not have to buy a new HDD to get the more quickly speed. None so far....lets hope it stays that way! I reformatted it from NTFS to FAT32 so that I can use it on my my Mac and Pc.

-modest-USB 3.-powered by the USB port -short cord-the blue color is kinda ugly (doesn't genuinely matter although) The 1st file I transfered when I got this drive was an 8GB film and it was getting 70MB/s! My only problem is how short the cord is. I don't have a fancy case that has USB three. on the front and the cord barely brings the drive halfway about from the back. I'll be receiving a longer one for my desktop and use this cord for my laptop.

Solidly sealed in plastic. It could fall in a toile and nevertheless work, but I havent tried it. Smaller, solid pits in shirt pocket color is good or it disappears amidst the clutter. Vivid blue is truly handy, I like it much better than the black a single. I can spot it even at 4 am grab it and go. You have to plug it into usb. wifi would be great but doubt if that will ever take place. I am getting additional of them, hope there is a single left for you.I think two 500's is superior than a 1 terrabyte, that is identical price tag.It is absolutely, noticeably, positively more rapidly than my two. usb drives by rather a bit. I hope it lasts as long as my other WD tricky drives, some of which I have employed for years.

This factor is tiny... even smaller than a passport The USB3. cable that is provided is barely 2feet lengthy. WD's software program is bloatware. Write speeds have been anywhere from 30MB to 75MB depending on the file being transferred. Quite happy with the speed and size.

Cons: Short Cable

Pros: QuickSmallFast
Comment:
Overall this is a decent little drive for the price. Reasonable transfer rates, very compact and fairly solid construction. The cable it comes with is pretty short, just over 1' long. But that's not the end of the world.
