Easy setup none Fast and easy setup. I have owned quite a few routers. I thought they had been all the similar. This a single was the easiest to switch among router and access point with a switch on the bottom.

This router just keeps going. I've put DDWRT on it day a single, and I don't ever will need to reboot it (unlike the high priced D-Hyperlink router it replaced).I've had a quite very good luck with Linksys router (WRT54GL) just before, but signal on this Buffalo is undoubtedly stronger -- the whole house is covered with no issue; Linksys became spotty at the edges. It's not an N. No Gigabit. No NAS. No Dual-Band.Issue is, once all the features are added in, you get either an 赨 router, or something unstable (or each). Even even though I'm purchasing for a new N router (and in all probability will go for 1 of the new high-end Netgears), this one particular will nonetheless be utilized in one capacity or an additional.

Bought it in 2006 and it performs flawlessly ever due to the fact. Never required to reboot it as it never locked up, quite highly effective radio, good signal all over the home. Clean and responsive Net interface, though it may well look hard for novices. Have set the TX power to 75% in the basement and signal is five bars on the 2nd floor. None I can inform throughout my five years of ownership. Effectively, updated the firmware as soon as, but I often do on all my gear... Not quite a few factors last this extended, but this tiny router keeps going robust. If operating it at one hundred% TX power watch for heat, my basement is generally cool so no problems there. Also it is on UPS given that 2006. This is as great or much better than the popular 'blue colored' a single...Can take custom firmware but I had no need for it. The original is super steady and does all I require.

This router is fast and has a incredibly robust signal. I flashed it with Tomato. The flash was somewhat simple to execute. When Tomato was operating the router was more quickly. Signal strength was higher and also variable thru the new firmware. The original router only did WEP incription. Tomato has WPA2 and its variants. The tiny stand it sits in is rather low cost and the stock firmware stinks.

operates nicely as a router forces you to use WEP encryption when utilised as a wireless bridge I purchased this particularly mainly because Buffalo says it can perform as a wireless bridge with my Buffalo WHR-G54S router. What Buffalo didn't inform me, even though, is that setting up a wireless bridge working with these solutions forces your encryption to WEP at ideal. WEP was cracked wide open years ago and, at this point, is like obtaining no encryption at all. Buffalo need to not promote this solution as a wireless bridge if it forces you to use inadequate encryption.

Good range and repeater function makes connections amongst buildings easy. I was in a position to bounce the signal to two out buildings on an acerage with NO external antennas. Utilized a 1-two , 2-3 daisy chain which limits speed but no external antennas. Signal punches thru numerous 2x4 walls in all buildings and remained strong and stable. Haven't identified any. Setup for a daisy chain is complex, set everything up indoors and tested ahead of placing repeaters in out buildings.

Effortless set upGreat coverage None at this time Newegg rocks with only a four day delivery time. This router was straightforward to install and I get five bars in all corners of my property. It is actually good as my five yr old D-Link was failing.I would easily recommend this to everyone. It was a wonderful value as nicely. Easily decrease than a local supplier even with shipping.

Easy to setup with DD-WRT firmware. I didn't even boot the stock firmware. Got it up and operating in 15 minutes! This guy replaces a Linksys WRT-54GL that I had installed 2 6DBI Antennas on. This small guy is significantly smaller and the really unique thing is that it enhanced my wireless signal strength all through my home! I no longer have the bulky WRT-54GL on my desk, now its this slim guy! Very propose this wireless router! That I didn't buy it sooner. I have a huge household on a 1ǘ acre parcel and I was able to get on the World wide web from the far corners of my property where as before I could not.

Wonderful router, especially with Tomato firmware. So although checking out they presented a combo for ŭ much more with a Rosewill higher get antenna. So I bite for only ŭ. But the antenna doesn't fit and NewEgg says: "We are strictly reseller. As we mentioned, we do not provide any kinds of technical assistance nor assure the compatibility of combo items we sell. The combo deal is merely the promos we supply" And I'd usually liked NewEgg so much. In no way occurred they'd offer a combo with non compatible things. 15% re-stocking and I hve to spend shipping means it's more affordable to throw it away.

This is one superb router. I've been eyeing it for weeks as my WRT54GS2 began flaking out. It ultimately died and I pulled the trigger. I promptly flashed this with DD-WRT and it's been solid ever since. This router has great range, I in no way get less than 4 bars anywhere in my 2000 sq ft house. The initial flash is type of difficult, I believed I bricked it a couple of times. I can't emphasis enough how great newegg is. They shipped the router significantly less than two hours after I placed the order and it was in my possession in less than 24. Fantastic.

Great, solid, predictable workhorse or a router.GUI tends to make basic configuration extremely simple.Solid overall performance, stable, running for years. Utilized to come with a wall mount, no additional, miss that. I have installed practically as many of these as I have the WRT54GL. You can't go wrong with either. Price tag drives me a single way or the other.

* Cost was Extremely reasonable, even additional so due to the fact I bought this router in the course of a sale.* The Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 is capable of changing the firmware from the default to third party firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT. I highly advocate installing 3rd party firmware on this router due to the fact the default firmware is not that impressive or user friendly.* Wireless coverage is strong. I have this router in a basement and I can access the net from my laptop anyplace in my home with at least 3 bars of signal strength.* The router is modest in size and does not take up a lot desk space. * The default firmware is not that impressive. It functions, but if you really want to bring out every little thing this router has to present you need to install third party firmware. I went with Tomato 1.28 and I've under no circumstances been happier with a router.* The plastic base for the router is pretty cheaply made. It performs for the most portion, but the tabs that snap into the bottom of the router are tough to maneuver into place if you want this thing to stand up straight. If you have CAT 5e cables for wired connections that have some tension on them, this router will probably fall more than when they are plugged in. Aside from the minor gripes, this router is an unbelievable bargain. At the time of buy, I acquired this solution from Newegg for under 40 USD. Tomato 1.28 is operating on my tiny Buffalo for 4 days and there are zero dropped packets/disconnects/warning entries in the logs. If you are not at least intermediate level tech savvy, you could have a hard time installing 3rd party firmware on this router. I can't speak for the default firmware because I flashed mine immediately after about 15 minutes out of the box. If you're searching for a thing you just plug and neglect, you may well want to select a unique router. If you're comfy with flashing to a 3rd party firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT then the Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 is a must get if you are in the marketplace for a new router. five eggs!

An antenna that looks like it can read your thoughts; space-efficient form factor for very vertical locations; strong connectivity (once tweaked); bandwidth test confirms download and upload speeds are as excellent as the D-Link DIR-625 Rangebooster N router it has replaced, and given that I don't transfer huge files among devices on my network, wireless G is additional than fine for my wants Installation widget failed repeatedly, leaving me unable to connect to the Interwebs till I employed the browser-based config tool; Connection was unreliable until I logged back into the router and selected "Get IP Address from DHCP Server." I possibly changed a couple of other settings but who genuinely knows for confident? When a networking organization (Buffalo, Cisco, D-Link, whoever) lastly figures out how to create a wireless router with fail-protected set up -- or at least with instructions that explain the measures, Turbo Tax style, in terms newbies will recognize -- it will take more than the planet. With its set-up widget, Buffalo attempted and failed. And after researching the choice of improving the router's performance with DD-WRT or Tomato firmware, I've resolved to just let Buffalo's firmware swim or sink on its own merits. Considering that tweaking the settings, this router has performed for 36 hours with no glitches. Doesn't very have the variety of my the D-Link DIR-625 Draft-n router it replaced, but so extended as I can hold a connection about the house, I don't care.

Hugely customizable, incredibly high powered radio, a lot of RAM, removable antenna Lousy docs and stock firmware...doesn't do 'N', but I guess that's a distinct solution. I bought this unit with the intension of promptly flashing it with DD-WRT. It works swimmingly. I am extreamly happy with the power of the radio. In reality, I lowered the power on the radio. Despite the fact that the unit is at a single finish of my house, I am receiving good signal strength at the other end of my 1600 Sq Ft residence. I would highly advise this unit for anyone interested in loading their personal firmware.

It in no way crashes, unlike the quite old outdated wired-only Linksys router that this router replaced. It won't stand vertically on its personal with the included clip-on stand. Even with one particular cable connected at the back, the router will tip more than. Activity lights are at the rear of the router rather of the front. I'm a small disappointed that I can only get a wireless maximum speed 22Mbps out of this router. I don't know if its the router's fault or my personal for not putting in the proper settings.

This higher energy router reaches components of the house other routers could not. Incredibly satisfied with this upgrade. A small confusing setting up but our VOIP router contributed to this confusion. I got this on the recommendation of our network admin. He liked that you can install open source firmware and honestly tinker with the power. I haven't however attempted it and may well not require to. It is reaching components of the residence our old router could not.
