Comment:
Just picked this up on a sale and it's a great deal at this price point. It's not the latest and greatest in high tech name brand but none the less it's hard to notice once the lid is shut what you have in there!I'm happy! This Captcha system to submit a review is brutal though...there's no captcha to enter until I try 3 random times then it spits a number out...

Pros:-fast-reliable-affordable
Comment:
I've had this SSD for approximately half a year now and it's been outstanding. I use it as my primary boot drive and also to run more demanding games from. I came from a Corsair Force 3 with horrible firmware issues and would never go back. I highly recommend this drive to anyone looking for an SSD with a decent amount of space.

Pros:Fast, and that's about it.
Comment:
Note: Since I bought this SSD in-store, NCIX does not allow 1 star ratings (unless you buy online). But my true rating of this SSD is 1 star! The first day I used this SSD, it was amazing. It was incredibly fast. However, after having used this SSD for over a month now, this SSD has been an absolute nightmare!I bought this SSD to upgrade my system, which I built myself about 1-2 years ago. My specs are:- ASRock P67 Extreme4 B3- Intel Core i5 2500k- G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB RAM- XFX Core Edition Pro650w- XFX Radeon HD 6850 (Ghost cooling)- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB HDDNote: I'm pretty experienced with IT troubleshooting. So far, this SSD has been a nightmare. I've had to spend numerous hours trying to troubleshoot all of the different issues I've had with this SSD.I've had various issues including:- BSODs (a few different ones)- Freezes / Lockups- SSD suddenly disappearing / not recognized- UEFI / BIOS unable to see SSD on reboot- Data corruption- SSD stuck in an infinite Windows Repair loop- And eventually, SSD not able to access certain parts of the drive. At first, I thought the earlier SSD issues might have been due to incompatibility, so I looked for update d Firmware and drivers. This SSD was shipped with the latest Sandforce 5.0.7a Firmware. So there was no firmware to update .I looked up a lot of information on compatibility and potential settings / configurations to help ensure better reliability with this SSD.Note that I often had troubles just simply rebooting my system with this SSD, because the SSD would often not be recognized in the UEFI / BIOS on reboot. To get the SSD to get recognized often required me to do a cold boot (power off, switch off PSU, unplug PSU cable, press Power button to release any potential built up charge in system, replug cable, switch on PSU, then finally power back on the system). I think this SSD might have some power management issues even with its latest firmware. One specific setting that helped relieve one of my specific idle BSODs was to disable Aggressive Link Power Management (a SATA setting) inside the UEFI / BIOS. If this setting was Enabled, it would cause the SSD to randomly drop  itself (disappear / go unrecognized) while inside Windows. After a while of decent usage, the SSD eventually started to BSOD on startup. Eventually I was able to get the SSD to boot into Safe Mode so that I could update  the INFs of my Intel chipset, thereby replacing the older (2006) MS AHCI driver with the latest Intel AHCI driver (2013). This allowed me to boot back up into Windows, and for a while, everything seemed fine again.Eventually, the SSD started acting up again, but this time, the problem was a lot worse. On trying to boot into Windows, I would get a BSOD related to bad config, and then the SSD would get stuck in an infinite Windows Repair loop that would take around 30 minutes to 1 hour per iteration.I switched back to booting off my mechanical HDD and tried to test the SSD out as a slave. Turns out, the SSD had corrupted data and there were parts of the SSD that were completely inaccessible (they would just time out / lock up on attempted read). I couldn't even shutdown my computer or reboot it, because it would hang on shutdown (I guess from the SSD locking itself up). So instead, I had to take out the SSD and connected it to my system as a USB slave. There's a good chance that I might have just been unlucky and gotten a defective SSD; however, this is a Sandforce SSD from ADATA. ADATA's website has very little information and Sandforce firmwares do not get update d often. By choosing to go with a Sandforce SSD, as well as ADATA, I ended up basically not being able to rely on support, and having to try to fix things myself.ADATA doesn't even include any SSD diagnostic tools or even a secure erase program. Basically, ADATA doesn't really support their SSDs well, so if you do end up having problems, you're kinda just on your own.The ADATA SSD comes with the latest Acronis True Image, but it's a very limited license key that has only the basic features enabled. So unless everything works and goes smoothly, you can't use Acronis to help mitigate problems by using it as an actual backup solution. You can only use it to do a very basic non-incremental backup.Personally, I really wish I went with a Samsung SSD. As long as the SSD is reliable and better supported, it doesn't matter if it's slightly slower, especially in write speeds. SSD boot times are all about read speeds and good garbage collection, which Samsung firmware does better than Sandforce anyway. Also note that ADATA's SSD specifically disables Sandforce RAISE to gain some extra free space, which is why ADATA can list their SSD as 256GB instead of the normal 240GB. The problem though is that RAISE uses about 1 flash die of space for parity data (similar to RAID), which allows RAISE to correct even uncorrectable errors. Since ADATA disables RAISE, if you get data corruption, you're out of luck.In my opinion, the extra GB isn't worth the loss of reliability. Even with constant backups, data corruption is still a huge pain and can take hours restoring a system to make it usable again. I'd rather sacrifice a few GB to save those hours of wasted time.It doesn't matter if the SSD can potentially boot in 20s if it randomly won't boot up in the first place and if you have to spend hours troubleshooting it just to get it into Windows. This SSD was such a headache... I highly do NOT recommend it!

ADATA SX900 2.5" 256GB SSD SATA 3 SandForce 2281 550MB/SEC Write and 530MB/SEC Read
Cons:Nothing really... It looks like a block, but then every other SSD looks like that too.

Pros:Fast.Windows 8 boots in seconds.256 GB is the size that gives you a lot of room for your OS and programs. As long as you keep an extra hard disk to save movies and etc, you will never run out of space. Those movies really don't deserve space on SSD anyways.
Comment:
Nice SSD. If you not only want to keep your OS, but also your core programs and games, this is the ultimate deal. I bought it at 169.99 with price matching and rebate. This one is definitely better than Samsung's 480 Pro in terms of read/write speed and price. When you see your computer booting with in a minute, you don't regret spending 169.99 on it.

I had read many great reviews on this, and was excited to use it as my boot drive, and it worked great for a day, until it started to crash. Windows was always having to repair it, so I wiped it, and did a clean install again, hoping I had done something wrong the first time. Same thing happened within a few hours again. I'm going to try to return it and get an intel instead.

I installed Windows 8 and the booting time is done within 10s, and the windows experience index scores at 8.1.I highly recommend this product for people who consider performance and price. Samsung 840 Pro is much more expensive than SX900, but the performance is similar. Before making a purchase, think again.

Pros:Very fast, bought at sale for 159.99$
Comment:
After seeing the great Yuletide sale price at 159$ last week, after waiting months to see the price on SSD drives drop, I found this in my email, read some other reviews to find out if the sandforce drivers in this hard drive had issues as well. No reviews on multiple quick google searches turned up with anything bad, so I purchased. The difference between this and my old HDD are astounding so far, obviously, and was well worth the purchase. However, most products usually fail further down the road if they aren't DOA, so we'll see if it holds up as well as other reviews say.

Cons:-Sandforce 2281 controller with firmware v5.0.2a = broken TRIM support-No "RAISE" error correction

Pros:-Very fast!-Good value (at least during the sale)-Sweetspot for SSD capacity-Decent included software license
Comment:
The latest firmware for this Sandforce 2281 device (5.0.2a) has some kind of bug with the TRIM function that will eventually cause a large performance degradation. This issue has been known since around August 2012, and while many other manufacturers have released update d versions of the Sandforce firmware to fix this problem, ADATA is seriously dragging their heels on this one. Buyer beware...(Of course once they release an update  this will be an excellent solid state drive.)

computers haven't really impressed me lately with upgrades being minimal performance gains which can't notice sometimes, but let me say switching from HDD with platters to a SSD, WOW!! what a difference, booting to windows is like instant, tranfers are lightning fast, the drive is silent, this little 2.5" ssd is impressive, and for the price, this adata 256gb is great deal. i only wish there are 1 or 2tb ssd's for under $200, but this is a start, highly recommended
