AMD only!
Comment:
Snap to install. Love the heatsink already in place. AMD plus Asus motherboards equals a combo that rocks together.

Great CPU value
Comment:
Great CPU value. Not the fastest, not a quad core, but darn good value for the money. Runs Windoze 7 (x64)enterprise edition and XP nicely enough. Haven't tried on Linux yet but should be okay there too.

great stuff
Comment:
Great deal, you get superb performance for a very good price, although I'd rather a Phenon II X4, but those are pricey. Don't forget the Thermal paste, cause the original supplied is crap! Eventually you might want to replace the stock cooler as well if you're into overclocking, otherwise this one is great.

Super fast at a nice price

ok so i wanted to upgrade a system so found this 2.8ghz athlon ok 64$ good price got it home and looked at the cheazy cooling fan and thought this is not going to work but i tryed it anyways i played some games and i looked at the temp and it was getting real hot 60c with the fan all the way up 2800rpm. i looked at the warrenty 3 yrs which is nice but it states if you use anything other than the fan supplied your warrenty is no longer valid. i might buy a beter fanidk yet

AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:only 2 cores

Pros:Price, run cool
Comment:
Got this to replace a Intel 2180 setup since I have a spare Gigabyte MA770-UD3 around...also Intel 775 is phasing out.Anyway this cpu runs cool, I have a those 3 heatpipes Kingwin cooler with it and it outperform the E2180 at stock, only when the E2180 overclocked to 3.2Ghz it will match the 240....haven't overclock the 240 yet since it performs well at stock speed.I paid about $73 after tax and shipping promo for this cpu and it worth every penny of it.Only downside is maybe only 2 cores but the user of this cpu don't need 4 cores yet so I saved the $50+AMD really shines with their budget lines of cpu...the Athlon X2 and X4, price per performance is much higher than Intel and you can get some budget 770 chipset motherboard for less than $80 when they are on sale.Competition is great, keep it up AMD.BTW, no need to get the X2 250 for $10-20 more, you can easily overclock this cpu to that speed and if you do overclock...the 240 can also overclocked to the same level as the 250 which is around 3.6-3.8Ghz,

Great CPU
Comment:
Its not expensive and it runs pretty cool! I first thought the stock cooler would be bad but it runned at 27 Celcius and 31 celcius on load. Awesome CPU, though the system i built it on was for a business computer not really much of a gaming machine. Vista WEI Rating is 5.7 says drivermax.

Great overall
Comment:
Got it with a barebone kit, very simple to install, seems to have a very zippy system once running. Unless you're a die hard gamer in need of insane speed, this is a very good buy.

X4 what? This thing is fast, overclocked it at 3.4Ghz(can go higher but don,t need more)and guess what,it runs anything that my older Phenom 9950 runs, for $65 not a bad deal. Windows 7 experience index 6.7 @3.4Ghz. Buy it!
