This little guy overclocks like a bloody champion and is the CPU I recommend to anyone who wants to build a budget gaming PC, It handles Rome Total War on extreme graphics with maximum troops on the screen without even a stutter which is a really cpu intensive game. handles everything I throw at it, absolutely love it.

Pros:Cheap, 6 cores

4.3ghz stable on an h60. Ended up upgrading to 8320. Good chip for gaming, but they aren't binned very well, your OC may vary. I didn't get a very good one.

Cons:heatsink could be bigger

Pros:very nice running cpu. quickruns fairly cool
Comment:
other than the heatsink ( which I used the hyper 101 instead) this cpu is a very amazing performer. I upgraded wifes tower from Athlon 640 quad core to this cpu and she is very happy. no lags in her daily usage and the add of the heatsink made her tower ultra quiet.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Single-threaded performance not a large improvement over previous generations

Pros:Lots of coresLots of cacheRuns coolGood price/performance ratio
Comment:
This CPU accomplishes what it does by using lots of cores. You have to have software and an OS that takes advantage of this.Otherwise, in single threaded applications, its performance is good but not jaw-dropping. I moved from an AMD Phenom II x3 B73 (2.8 GHz) to this. I was expecting an improvement but single-threaded benchmarks show there's only been a small improvement. I would have thought that this CPU's 700 MHz clock advantage, turbo mode, more cache and a newer architecture would have made a larger improvement. However because this CPU now has 6 cores to throw at a task that will use all of them, the CPU remains largely unburdened for most tasks. Loading a script-heavy webpage or playing an online video would have briefly pegged one of the cores on the Phenom, but with this CPU, it barely registers. There's lots of power available. This CPU runs cool for me - it idles at 28 C, a delta of only 5 C over ambient. Stressed with Prime95, it stabilizes at 49 C, a delta of 26 C over ambient. This is with a Scythe Mugen 4 air cooler.Incidentally I tried overclocking just to see. I didn't raise voltage but achieved 3.85 GHz Prime95-stable by raising the FSB, 3.8 GHz by raising the multiplier. Not as good as some others but not bad either.

Cons:none

Pros:Works6-Cores
Comment:
I have about 6 of these guys now, they work great.Paired with various HD7770's and HD7850's, they all run very well and I have not had any issues. I paired them with the cheapest boards I could find (Asus 760g boards). I read a lot of posts about how these should be on 970 or higher chipset boards, but I'm not really sure if there is a performance difference if kept at stock. I do not notice any throttling with the 760g chipset (and they're all 3+1 power phase boards) while gaming.Maybe the performance would be slightly better on a 970 board, but I was on a strict budget for all my computers.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:power consumption, heat, mediocre single threaded performance

Pros:Cheap, 6 cores, unlocked, good for mid range
Comment:
For a mid range CPU, this is a very good bang for buck. Will easily run at 4Ghz, and can get higher with some extra cooling/voltage. It does run quite warm (despite what the internal sensor reports) but with good cooling, its perfectly acceptable. Single threaded performance kinda sucks, as does Paired with a mid range graphics card, this makes for a very good system.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:None. This is a great CPU.

Pros:GREAT bang for the buck!
Comment:
I did a lot of research and found that, at this time, this CPU is unbeatable in terms of performance/price. When all 6 cores run, it's awesome. I don't game, but when I ran a 720p video, the overall usage wasn't even 10%.On stock cooler I'm around 31-36 degrees Celsius. When I ran stress tests, I went up to 61 degrees Celsius and that was it. I do have a good chassis that allows for a lot of air flow and I've got 6 fans going; no water cooling or anything though. Individual results may vary. But cooling aside, this is a GREAT CPU. If I was to build another computer, I'd buy it again! WELL DONE, AMD!

Cons:Huge power consumption compared to Intel chipsWeak single threaded performance

Pros:PricePerformanceDecent overclockingHandles multi threaded apps very well
Comment:
If you are getting this to upgrade an older am3+ board. Or are on a tight budget. Its hard not to recommend this processor. However if you're a gamer. The 8320 is very close in price. With next gen consoles both sporting 8 cores. We are going to see a change in optimization. The extra threads could come in handy down the line to prevent a gpu bottleneck.Paired with a Gtx 660 its still running games phenomenally well for the time being.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Gets hot in a hurry when under full load. Water is really the way to go with these;= more $$'s.Stock cooler is worthless.

Pros:New instruction sets make it modern. Good overclocking headroom with even air cooling. Price for performance is really good when OC'ed a bit. Working implementations of turbo and all c states.
Comment:
Overclocked to basically 15% over what a 6350 is clocked at.Has outstanding integer performance and when running FPU intense stuff, actually will clock as high as 5.3 ghz.All up, I'm very impressed with this chip. I was able to increase single core performance in Cinibench 11.5 to 1.4, which isn't too shabby. All under water mind you, so be prepared for the added expense of a good cooler as the stock cooler is basically garbage. That being said, I used a dual heatpipe cooler for a s939 Opty and it faired quite well before I installed the water.Great job on AMD's part. For a $120.00 and the given ability to tinker; you can do quite well for yourself.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:less features than comparable intel cpus, lower performance than comparable intel cpus (based on clock / features not price)

Pros:Cost, compatibility, overclockability (very good), future proofish.
Comment:
Does exactly what I expected. single threaded apps run, but are not a huge improvement over my Phenom II X3. Multi-threaded apps, run fantastic. Windows boot time is again, faster than the x3, but not a huge improvement. Quite happy with this cpu, and its a good buy considering the efforts AMD puts into Upgrade paths. They have clearly learned their lessons from s754, s939, sAM2. The latter being the most backwards compatible socket(for processors) I have ever seen.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:- Single threaded performance.

Pros:- Price/Performance sweet spot.- Excellent overclocking potential.- Will handle today's games and apps regardless of it's lackluster single threaded performance.- The future is multithreaded development so this CPU will get better!- Decent stock cooler.
Comment:
I've been running this processor for a couple of months now with a AMD 7950 GPU. Gaming on both my 24" 1080p and even my Korean 27" 1440p monitor has been perfect. I had an AM3+ mainboard already from a three year old HTPC build so it was nice I was able to throw a modern processor on it and put together a cheap gaming rig. Encoding home movies was also much faster than I expected (TEncoder). When you're buying into the AMD processors (6 core, 8 core, etc), you're really buying into the future of productivity and gaming software. Today's SDK's have made multithreaded development much easier so as newer versions of your favorite apps are released, this processor will start to really shine.

I just have to say cody you dont have a clue what your talking about and are clearly just an intel fanboy, this cpu is alot better then any i3 to date and better then most i5's too, you should do research before you talk about something you nothing about,,,, ((for ex)) a core i3-3220 clock speed 3.3 ghz has a cpu rating of 4232 and a i5-3470 clocked at 3.2 ghz has a cpu score of 6616... Now this cpu the amd fx 6300 clocked at 3.5ghz has a cpumark of 6444,,,,, so yeah the i5's score is better by 1.02 percent. ofcourse there are better i5 cpu's and better 6 core cpu's But this cpu will play any game out now with ease if anyone wants a good cpu on a budget

Pros:Great price to performance ratio, overclockable.
Comment:
I really like this CPU. I went from a i3 2120 and i'm already enjoying the snappiness as well as HUGE gain that comes with this CPU when it comes to video editing. Also, multithreaded apps run REALLY well.I think the thing that sent me back to AMD was the price of this CPU along with the fact that you can overclock without having to pay for the most expensive i5 or i7.Great purchase!

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Runs a bit hot, water cooling is recommended

Pros:Extremely FastBeats any Intel CPU for the moneyMaxes out every game with a good GPU(I use the GTX570)
Comment:
I had downgraded from an i7 2600K mainly because I did not need all that power, but I was surprised to find out this CPU ran all my video editors and games with more or less SAME FPS and render times using the same GTX 570 GPU. Maybe 1 or 2 less FPS in all games and few seconds more in After Effects CS6.Do not trust online benchmarks, they are simply averages of millions of systems and FAR less than what you will actually get.Like I said, it will be a hot chip. With the stock heatsink you should get 40 idle and 60 load(Celsius). With liquid cooling(I used a Corsair H70) you should get 30-36 idle and up to 55 for extreme load(Celsius too)Buy this, you won't be dissapointed and remember that there is massive room for overclocking and you will get a futureproof AM3+ platform as oposed to Intel's non-futureproof LGA1155.
