First of all this factor is heavy compared to other enclosures I have, heavy adequate that I thought it had a drive in it already. The weight is just the enclosure although, incredibly thick aluminum that appears to work properly dissapating heat. I have a WD Caviar Black 250G Sata Drive in it and neither the case nor the drive itself get significantly warmer than ambient regardless of the transfer back and forth of many huge files more than a period of a couple of hours. (measured with a laser temp meter)Operates entirely on bus energy with the Caviar Black. Windows, (XP Pro. SP3) recognized the drive as soon as I plugged it in to the USB port and asked me if I wanted to initialize it. I said yes and then went to Admin. tools and formatted it which took about 35 minutes. Installing the drive was effortless, the recessed slide lever on the finish and a spring inside popped out the tray, attached the drive to it, slid it back in and it clicked into spot, speedy and easy. Overall the best enclosure I have out of four. Recomm ended. Like I mentioned above this factor is heavy, 13.five oz, measured with the drive in it on a digital scale, simply twice as heavy as my other thin walled 2.5in size aluminum enclosures with the drives in them, only a con if you want to carry it about in your shirt pocket. Umm, I had 1, should be a a different senior moment. Oh yeah, the software program is great as effectively. I've been waiting for Apricorn to update their software program to function with Win7 64bit. My gaming laptop or computer has Win7 Pro OEM 64bit on it and you know what that means. I wanted to hedge my bets in case of HD failure so instead of jumping by way of Microsoft hoops to reinstall the OS I could just swap out HD's. The software program worked quite effectively, I now have one more drive with Win7 on it and it passed the test when I swapped the drives. The powder blue anodized color is... OK, now that I think about it, subdued but extremely snazzy, makes the enclosure look high finish. I like the rubber strips on the bottom, superior than four tiny feet IMHO. The blue activity light is nowhere near as bright as some, incredibly good. Now where is that rebate paperwork?

Worked great, cloned the hard drive perfectly and I haven't had any main problems with any of my programs or saved files. When i put the new difficult drive in Avast Antivirus didn't work. I just uninstalled it and reinstalled it and now it works just fine. Its a little costly but the amount of time it saves is properly worth the cost.

Was quite straightforward to backup the difficult drive on the macbook. I upgraded the drive from the default 60GB to a 500GB and it seemed flawless. None that I can think of There was some problem with the photo library and as the macbook was my wife's I am not 100% sure if this issue existed before the upgrade or not. I think it did, but again am not 100% positive. This is not sufficient for me to give a negative for unless I thought this caused it. Given the nature of what this does, I doubt that to be the case.
