I ordered this when a repair installation of Windows XP put a client's laptop tough drive in a never-ending Windows Setup "loop" (it hung at "Installing devices" with ൪ minutes remaining"). It allowed me to connect the 2.five" laptop drive to a USB port on my laptop and pull information off of it and transfer it to a 16 GB USB flash drive for safe storage until I could reinstall the laptop's OS, drivers and applications. I cannot comment on the EZ Gig II software as I have not had the chance to use it yet. None so far. Nice to know about the 64-bit incompatibility with this product before acquiring. This is a very good device, and is all self contained in one unit. I have at least 4 of these units Units are in transition phase. Software in packages is changing from version two. to version three.. The new software package only runs from a CD, you are no longer able to set up the software package on your computer and maintain it there for when you will need it.
