ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme Extended ATX AMD Motherboard
Comment:
This board is a true masterwork. It is laid out so that every thing just fits naturally on it. The lights on it show all the statuses consistently and with a windowed case it tells all to you. The 4 graphic card slots are wonderful and the truth that you can use them for the other PCIX cards just makes these slots make sense on the board. The speed makes every thing run like I've under no circumstances experienced. The size could be a problem for a few if they don't understand that it has extra slot spaces. The board is Extreme as it says and I believe it could do practically something thrown at it. The parts appear really high quality and the black screening on it tends to make it look amazing in windowed circumstances.

All the jazz that comes with a high-finish motherboard. Has sensor cables that accurately monitor the temps of whatever you attach them to. Came with SATA3 cables rather of supporting it and sending out-dated hardware like some other makers. Neat tiny fan more than the NB for added cooling. Ridiculous quantity of fan connectors on the motherboard. All sorts of overclocking characteristics that usual ASUS customers are familiar with and appreciate. 1st off, my mobo came direct with a fried audio chipset. Not a major deal for me given that I planned on working with a sound card. Strangely, this truly adds to the dilemma...Ah, the infamous Hydralogix; just how good is it? Fantastic, in reality, but you will need to know how to set it up. For dual cards in Hydralogix, you use slots 1 and 4 @ x16. 1 and 3 are for native Crossfire. For three cards, you use slots 1 and either 2, four, or five Ƒ, two, and 4 are proposed for x16). THIS BOARD DOES NOT Assistance Four CARDS IN HYDRALOGIX! It supports only 4 cards in Crossfire in slots 1, 2, four, and five. Reading the mobo manual will tell you all of this. My challenge is this: in order for me to use my two Twin Frozr GTX480s in Crosslink, I can\'t use my sound card due to the size of these cards. IF I spot my 1st card in the 1st slot, it covers slot two. Putting the second card in slot four covers the PCI slot for my sound card. Slot five is not an alternative due to a bottom-mounted PSU. BEWARE OF THIS! @brcromer:Lol? I don't see where it says it supports 4x nVidia cards. IF you would have performed some analysis, you would know that it only supports up to 4 GPUs in XFIRE, not Hydralogix. Don't blame the company for your incompetence. This is not an SLI ready board. This is a Crossfire and Hydralogix board. The only quad-card set-up is through crossfire. You can\'t set up nVidia cards in Crossfire. The most you can get from Hydralogix is three nVidia cards. Hope that is basic adequate for you to recognize. :)Phenom II x6 1090T @ four.2Ghz (Corsair Hydro H70ƞGb Mushkin Redline 6-eight-6-20-28-1T @ 1709ASUS Crosshair IV ExtremeABS Majesty 1100 Watt PSU (Modular, Single, 80+ goldƜx MSI Twin Frozr GTX480s in Crosslink (Hydralogix)Vital 1G1 256Gb SSD with SATAIII interfaceASUS Xonar Essence 7.1 Sound card (currently utilizing an external USB)Logitech Z-5500 5.1 SpeakersLite-on black 12x blu-ray burnerSamsung Syncmaster P2770 27" 1ms LCDHAF 932 Blue LED edition Ɣx R4's on

see other see other Thinking of upgrading - would love this for the "CrossLinx" video capabilties and upgrading to a DDR3 MoBo...but not liking the LAN probs I checked the ASUS web page - and a Google seach turns it up faster: new Intel LAN drivers have quite lately been released (ASUS internet site says Nov ten) - wondering if the LAN probs / BSODs are resolved with these new drivers? Any individual? Bueller?...Bueller?(Note: I have at the moment two other "enthusiast" ASUS MoBos with no issues: M2N32SLI (AM2) - four yrs / M4N82 (AM3) 1.5 yrs...I like the ASUS layout / owner manual and so on A guy I perform with has been creating PCs for 20+ yrs [really!] and swears by ASUS as well - YMMV...)

This board comes with all the trimmings, beautiful inside the box and out. Several new BIOS updates from Asus has kept improving the OCability that was currently nicely accomplished and is quickly the ideal AM3 board you will ever be able to get. I see a lot of complaints about this board from users who did not do the correct research and are now crying over the PCI-e slots they believed they could utilize. This is nothing incorrect the board, just these users. Read meticulously and you won't be disappointed. Can't make appreciate to it devoid of acquiring all scratched up. If you're going to be working with the AM3 chipset, this is simply the finest board dollars can buy for it and will remain that way indefinitely.

lots of bios settings for overclocking, but overclocking is fairly simple (unlike my old DFI boards with lots of settings but a PITA to overclock). the bluetooth remote feature is incredibly great.my 1055T and G.Skill Flare love this board. minor problems:lan driver offered on installation disc is out of date and caused many bsods - updated driver from intel corrected the dilemma. only confirms my hatred of onboard NICs. i'm placing the over/under ahead of it fails at six months.also not fan of the 90 degree angled SATA ports. they're positioned appropriate had been my hard drives are in my case would surely suggest this board regardless of the minor concerns i knowledgeable.

Functions extremely well and no complaints. Every single peice possible is ASUS on new rig eyebrows got burnt off..... :P Dear EX ASUS client,The 1st problem is that you did the claim as an RMA and not a DOA. Under 30 days is regarded DOA. RMA is from 31 days - 3 years. So once more, RMA is to replace a Employed item. Why would they replace it with a NEW item? They are replacing it with a like item... Used. Otherwise... there would be a lot of "problems" when 2.five years hit, just to get a new board. I do realize though, that ASUStek need to have supplied the DOA rather and that is on them. When dealing with a corporation, be calm, but stern on what you want and settle for only what you'll accept.

None so far!!!!! I’m extremely disappointed with ASUS. Got the board, updated software due to the fact it was a fully new program. Got to use it for 5 minutes and it froze. Wont POST. Shows Dram error. Referred to as Asus they stated to send it in. Just by no means ask for an advanced replacement. 1st they DO charge your card regardless if it’s prior to their 14 day (non-existent) grace period to send back the failed board. So I cancelled this due to the fact I didn’t want 跌 to be floating out there. This in return which no 1 in their tech support explained cancelled any alternative for an advanced replacement. Now that my board is at their repair site initially I was told they "don't fix" these boards and just send out a new board. Wrong....... It nonetheless takes 7-ten company days. No matter what.So a week to get it sent because of the advance replacement went sour because I don’t want charged.A week to get it there.About two weeks to fix it.One more week to get it back.I’m out on sending any other items back through the 30days return. So I invest more than 2500 on a good new personal computer that I didn’t get to use. Now I have to wait over a month for a new one even though my 30 day return gets burnt up on each and every other component that I ordered. So now I will have to go through the manufacturer if something else is found bad. So I’m potentially searching at more than 2 months without what I paid for. ASUS you FAILED ME!!!!Its will be challenging to get any of your merchandise.

It's a excellent board, that created for games. The board is a wonderful built quality. Asus paid a lot of attention to make sure the board doesn't over heat, also it's the board to have if you are looking to more than clock your pc. I know the lan card causes BSOd, and it might not be asus's fault but the product is on their board so I am holding asus responsible. The the price of the board the bugs should of been worked out of the board. I utilized the new intel driver and applied BSOD hot fixes but nothing. The system gets BSOD like there's no tomorrow. I had to go back to xp x64 bit to have a method running. Which is very frustrating to say the least. I have owned Asus merchandise for quite a handful of years but now following this encounter I may possibly be seeking else exactly where. Wonderful item but the fact that there's a sticker that says works with windows 7 is not true. I unless you don't mind obtaining BSOD (blue screen of death) each and every 5 minutes the technique is running. - two eggs due to the fact I have to use xp to run the program.

Good capabilities, performance. An open globe of possibilities allowing you to make use of ATI and Nvidia graphics. Regrettably, I've had several blue screens given that I built my system which was lately Ɣታ񳏋) been finding blue screens most of the times. Either brought on by memory, IRQL, technique, LAN, and numerous other people. Hope that Asus address this big problem with the mainboard. Otherwise it will hunt them back. Other then the blue screens. the program runs as I expected. However, I am starting to get ticked by the constant errors that arise from the "unknown." If this continues I will return this item.

Stewie, I really believe I'll get 1 of these, and whatever else comes out in 6 months. And please quit posting rants that are totally useless, and without facts. Some individuals may accidently listen to you, and miss out on what ASUS has to provide. Some folks can also appear forward to spending funds on things to post a genuine assessment, I at present have more than 5 ASUS mobo's operating servers five feet from me! My incredibly very first Asus. Great Seeking, Solid Construction, Feature Rich. BIOS gives each feature you could possibly want. **Make sure you use LAN Driver version 11.7.32.1003** This driver version is obtained from inside Windows, and is at the moment the version posted on the ASUS Support web-site. I knowledgeable BSOD's until I updated to this versionYeah the LAN Driver is a identified issue. Why they chose to use an Intel based LAN Driver on an AMD Socket-ed Motherboard is beyond me. I didn't have any complications installing the Bluetooth Module once the board was in my case, but I can see how some situations could be problematic. Don't attempt to install Windows with all RAM Slots populated.

Looks amazing. All 8 of the fan headers are BIOS controlled.Bluetooth module included. The northbridge is cooled by a noisy 40mm fan that's not quite efficient.Lucid Hydra can't be turned off, so any non-video card you put in slots 2, four, or five will suffer from increased latency. The board runs hot at stock voltages. The Formula does everything this board will except for RC bluetooth and mismatched parallel graphics. (Which needs perform)If I didn't want to take benefit of my new EATX case I would have saved myself โ and purchased a USB bluetooth adapter.

890FX chipset, decent cooling design, Very first factor I did was clean off the stock TIM on the NB/SB and replace it with Arctic Cooling MX-3 and my NB temps at stock speeds/voltage were about 34cኅc, with an OC and voltage bump they typical 45c኏c (idle/load). Status LED's are valuable. Had no issues reading and running my 1600 RAM at 1600. BIOS may seem intimidating at very first for those upgrading from an older board but its actually not, its actually very uncomplicated to navigate and work with. Hydra chip, I have no use for it now but its awsome to have the selection for two Nvidia cards in the future with out breaking the bank on Intel. (or even to just add an Nvidia card to go with my ATI card if I want)...Its superior to have options and not have to invest an additional 躔+ to get them. Solid Board with excellent selections and customization, straightforward adequate to OC Not a con so considerably but a word of guidance for those without full towers, I have an Antec 900 and the board fits but just barely and therefore was a discomfort to install with the RCBluetooth module. (this is especially accurate if you use the modest holes in the motherboard tray for cable management. but is doable. The Bluetooth module can not be installed immediately after the board is installed, either put it on the board prior to it goes in your case or youll be taking the board out to get it on later. Antec 900Crosshair IV ExtremePII X3 720 with fourth core unlocked @ 3460mhzG.Skill Ripjaws 1600 7-7-7-24Radeon HD 5870SilverStone 1000w (ST1000-P)I dont know what the stock cooling is like as I replaced the stock TIM with MX-3 but the Extreme doesnt seem to suffer from the similar concerns as the formula, the NB/SB blocks were making good contact when I pulled the heatsink off. Also on that note, must you take the heatsink off do it with care as Asus applied an adhesive like TIM, not as robust as most but it took a bit of gentle pulling and you could hear it seperate, bottom line its not "goopy" and sticks nicely, Also be cautious cleaning it off (you will have to replace it no mater your reason for taking off the heatsink) so as not to scratch the chip, I utilized rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs and all is well. Also to get the TIM off of the block its best to gently scrape it off with a fingernail as its fairly solid and wont wipe off, then clean with cotton swab and alcohol.

-Lucid chip-Uncomplicated to use BIOS-Core unlocker makes unlocking cores less complicated as ever.-Supports CF/SLI even if not written on box-Sexy as hell -Lucid chip only works properly if you have 2 cards that have comparable specifications, such as a 6850, and a 5770, or a GTX 460 and a GTS 460.-Dual-GPU cards aren't supported but. So the Ares and Radeon 5970 can't be run on this board, which isn't a dilemma for me given that I wouldn't genuinely spend 600 to 1000 dollars on just gpus. All i'm going to say is do not put this in an NZXT Phantom case. It is a genuinely huge hassle given that the phantom says it supports e-atx, however it doesn't fairly fit effectively. overall excellent product

Great speed, works properly with the BIOS updates Hahaha, like most ignorant individuals on here that scored it badly (not all), probubly need to have given it a 1 egg out of five mainly because it won't support an Intel CPU I don't consider myself great at builds, but even I know that you do NOT purchase a MOBO that specializes in CROSSFIRE to run you're NVidia cards.... Ham, probubly must have called on that initial and not been stupid and knocked it for you're lack of sence. One 15 min call could have saved you 15% or more on return fees. :P

I do not own this, this is just a response back to stewie. Poster below me. No AM3+, I wish it could hold Bull Dozer X_x Hey Stewie, not trying to bash or start out up a arguement of any sort, but that link you sent isn't actually that valuable. It just links me to a different web page that argues that Hydra is no very good compared to Crossfire or SLI. The chart that's on that link isn't all that great either. I don't know what AMD or NVidia graphis card he is utilizing to do any of his test. I don't actually understand how the chart can be any valuable if we do not have any understanding of what GPU he employed to do any of his testings. For all we know he just produced up a chart and said I hate Hydra.Your post did give me alittle additional understanding although. I have not played Crysis Warhead, but reading by way of the post you showed us. It's mentioned that the game does not scale properly with Multi GPU Configuration. So if that is accurate then SLI, Crossfire, and Hydra would be useless on it in either case. Hydra's a new technology anyways. Let's just let it develope and see how far it'll get. Cheers.
