Incredibly fast and easy to function with....except.... ...for the Main CON for gamers: This board incorporates a sound card identified to have complications with Windows 7 users microphone-wise. Output functions fully fine, but the input however is HORRID. I sound like I'm a mile away from my microphone more than Vent and other applications of the sort even although I have by no means had a difficulty with my older computer with XP (YES, the microphone possibilities are turned all the way up and it is NOT muted). Turns out, this is a typical issue with the sound card on this motherboard and Windows 7. No official remedy that I have located, ever Googled solutions seem to randomly work or not, from downloading updated drivers to other solutions.

*Almost* everything about this board is fantastic.I bought in Feb 2011 and have not had the NB overheating issue, even following hours of gaming. The layout of the board is to my liking (although I favor best-facing SATA ports) and the packaging was sufficient to guard the board in transit to your house.Cons :\ The one particular point that is extremely upsetting about this board is that the onboard sound chip is advertised as Inventive Sound Blaster X-Fi, BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT IT IS!***IT'S Really A Through CHIP WITH A SOUND BLASTER X-FI STICKER ON Top, WITH Really CRUMMY AUDIO DRIVERS FOR WIN 7 64-BIT***I've spent hours attempting to get the sound to perform appropriately, and it's not that it doesn't play, but there is a popping sound with every single "new" sound that plays, and in-game there is a delay between an action and the resulting sound. Particularly FRUSTRATING.ASUS e-mail support actually told me this:"In this scenario, if you have another OS CD, please use that OS CD for a try. Might be the Through driver is not well compatible with your existing OS."This is a 赨+ motherboard from a (usually) respectable manufacturer and you're telling me that the drivers for a FALSELY ADVERTISED onboard sound chip could not be compatible with Windows 7?!?Give me a break! If you have your own sound card or intend on finding one particular, then you'll adore this motherboard as far as I can inform.

Board had a excellent layout. Has test point and error lights to inform you what dilemma you have with RAM, CPU, and so forth...OC buttons on the board as effectively as commence and reset buttons. The first board did arrive with a undesirable ram slot. I didn't down egg this due to the fact that I operate in the IT field and realize that there will be a handful of models that will not be perfect and plus the error lights told me immediately what the challenge was, so I only had to troubleshoot the slots and the ram sticks, easy day. The second board was perfect. Really simple to set up and hook up all the drives to. Runs cool and straightforward to overclock with. No troubles with memory installation or video cards. Worked correct out of the book and has not missed a beat considering that. None I debated for a long time moving away from the 790 chipset to the 890 chipset and ought to have made the move a lengthy time ago.

All the existing tech you could want and then some The Only con I have is that this board doesn't support SLI. Not adequate to drop off any eggs. I have applied this motherboard in many builds now and they all run fantastic.

Purchased this motherboard as component of my upgrade to my technique. The initial issue that caught my eye about this board is the colors. Red and black are my favorite and is of course the color scheme of my rig. This sits nicely in the HAF X situation I purchased and accents it perfectly.Performance wise you couldn't ask for more. Plenty of expansion slots to do a Triple Crossfire setup, a lot of slots for RAM, good NB and SB chips, and it handles my Phenom II X6 devoid of an concern. The BIOS menu for this board is uncomplicated to use and comes with an substantial set of choices for overclocking.Incorporates USB 3. and SATA 6gbps which is super quickly and just about every other modern day port you can believe of like firewire and e-sata. Even incorporates a rear panel to add 2 USB and 1 E-SATA. If you want the great balance of performance & looks then this is the proper board. If you are willing to spend a bit much more you could go with the Crosshair IV Extreme. It's sold out right here but you can discover it if you look elsewhere Would be cool if it included USB three. headers but it's understandable due to the fact it was likely built before the typical was released.Be aware that it DOES NOT consist of any IDE ports and so if you have an older DVD/CD drive that is nevertheless IDE you will be out of luck unless you obtain an IDE>SATA converter or upgrade your drive to SATA. I entirely overlooked this and then not until after installing the board I realized I couldn't use my DVD drive and had to copy the driver CD onto a USB stick from one more computer. (My fault of course).I ended up acquiring a SATA DVD burner instead of the converter and it should arrive subsequent week.Other than that it's tough to believe of anything that's really negative about this board. You'll notice other critiques tend to say the very same point. The reason is mainly because it's a best balance of anything you will need from a board in this price range. This is a rare situation where the board that's most pricey is expensive for a purpose and it lives up to that The deciding factors in between this and the other 2 boards in the exact same price range (MSI and Gigabyte) is the fact that this supports larger memory clocks with OC and the color scheme is way far better in my opinion. I don't know a lot of circumstances that look great with a enormous blue board in the middle thinking of 90% of the "cool" instances are black with red LED's.So unless you have the wish for a blue board or just don't care about color scheme then there's no purpose not to acquire the Crosshair IV Formula.Don't know if everyone understands this but it also has a fantastic presence when that package arrives at your door. I was like a kid on Christmas opening up that package and locating this gigantic red box with a velcro door flap that opens and reveals the wonderful fresh motherboard. I had a geek-gasm.Okay that's adequate...lol

A lot of bells and whistles ;) It's an ASUS. I like the CMOS reset button on the I/O Cluster. Had to use 16x_two for my X-Fi titanium card due to the fact 16x_three is utilised for CF. With the X-fi in 16x_two it makes my GPU1 run tenº hotter than GPU2. ***NORTHBRIDGE Troubles*** Some older mobo the NB heatsink doesn't make complete make contact with the NB Chipset which in turn makes your NB run hot at idle mine is running 76ºc for the duration of gaming it hit 85ºc. In order to fix the problem you have to remove your HS from the mother board and installed shorter stand off screws. The overclock, lock, start, and reset buttons are useless if you put something in either 16x_3 or 16x_four I expected a lot more QC from ASUS and for the value I paid for this board with the HB issues.

Pretty hunting, muscular built [heat sinks are searching promising, all heat sinks are firmly mounted in contrast to particular other people I've observed], appears to be easy to configure despite the fact that I didn't play adequate to comment more insightfully. Struggling to uncover out what is the story with netboot - I see that network doesn't connect during POST as well as, I don't see Boot alternative for Network Boot --- questioning if I got a negative board OR this is by style - any inputs on this is extremely appreciated!

When I use the overclock buttons it appears to have a bug were the tempature doesn't show. It may well be a setting someplace I am missing.... The cost dropped 25 bucks two days after I bought it....

This is an wonderful motherboard! I have sucessfully O.C. my 1090T to over 4.1gHz along with the ram to 2000mHz. The board runs cool in common, NB is about 42C and SB is 40C. All of the software this board comes with functions fantastic, but if you are going to use a utility to OC your pc I would suggest working with AMD OverDrive it just functions better for me at least. About 3 days following I received it there was a promo code for ฤ off. I've never seen so many leds on a motherboard ahead of.

Utilised this on my first construct. Uncomplicated install with no problems. Great software program included to assist in overclocking. A few pins had been bent on arrival, but were simply bent back. When you install your RAM you have to press fairly hard to get them to snap in. Neither of these had been truly any challenge at all, just figured id mention them.

wonderful board, no overheating difficulties. straightforward to use. i do advise this board only if you don't care about sound. don't waste your income on this worthless sound card. they ought to put in big fat F letters on there for people new to building a computer "BEWARE SPDIF IS NOT Part OF THE SOUNDCARD! SUPPORTS ONLY 2 CHANNEL AUDIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"so unless your theather method has 6 analog jacks or eight then forget about working with it.

Cons:-Doesn't support SLI-Some memory might not be able to reach its full clocks speeds.

Pros:-Looks great and function great. -Very straight forward BIOS and a lot of features that are included with it

Very good motherboard overall, overclocks very well and preforms like a beast. Very good if you are looking for having a high-end AMD machine, but i still feel like intel has the advantage over them with their 1155 socket. Intel has XMP profiles for RAM and has a wider range of SLI supported boards. Still, very good mobo and would recommend to any AMD lovers.

Lot of cool uncomplicated to use overclocking features. Looks amazing. The board is extremely finicky when it comes to memory. Great luck locating something on the QVL list since they are not getting sold anymore. My NB runs 15 degrees hotter than my SB and Asus tech assistance refuses to give protected operating temps for the bridges. Train your workers to make positive the NB heat sink is seated. Update your QVL so we don't have thousands of emails out to tech help for all the compatibility issues. Re-word the description to say in all probability not 2000mhz with (OC).

Asus announced in mid-March that this board will function with the forthcoming AMD Bulldozer CPUs that, according to initial reports, run 150% quicker than comparable Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs. Now I can't vouch for the veracity of the speed tests, but the full article on compatibility with the new Bulldozer CPUs is at http://event.asus.com񳏋/mb/AM3_PLUS_Ready/ he Bulldozer CPUs are also called AM3+ CPUs. This news is new as of late March 2011 and I doubt if resellers have had time to incorporate it into their product descriptions. Not actually a "con," but you've got to put some thing in this field. You will want to use the 3012 BIOS -- which Asus warns should be utilised only with AM3+ CPUs -- do NOT use an AM3 or AM2 CPU with this BIOS. Asus tech support, by the way, is in the U.S. From time to time it's fairly darned great, often it is awful. However Asus does honor its warranties, which is very good news.
