don't know if its the ASUS board (X99-A) but this does a nice whoosh whoosh when starting the PC which almost sounds like a blow-off valve. me likey!however, no ASUS branding on the drive which is kind of false advertising. but then who cares right |

Cons:- Questionable build quality; partially broke the SATA power connector- ASUS E-Green Utility Version 1.01.41 offered on the ASUS website does not recognize the drive
Pros:- Reads and burns DVD+RW without issue- Used it to install Windows 8.1 without problem Comment:
Inexpensive DVD drive. No ASUS branding on the front, which makes the drive look very bland. Partially broke the SATA power connector (the plastic bit that points away) when disconnecting it. It was well connected, but I guess the connection was just too tight and it broke when I wiggled it out. It still works, but I would not purchase it again because of that. The included software does not recognize the product either, which is not a real problem since it probably does very little. I would suggest looking at LG or Samsung DVD drives, which I have not had a problem with either. |
